"Is this cause Violet was found first? Or cause he's still hiding. No no no, we can find him before napping, its kay! We dont gotta end the game yet!" Violet was being asked so many questions, all of which missed her point of Plant not being allowed near Verglas. "N-No Plant, it's not..." "No no! Tree Bulb is my friend." He ran away from the spider. She inhaled and exhaled, trying to maintain her composure. She crawled as fast as she could, following the little Snivy. She was able to catch up to him and was able to use her legs to stop him.

When she had a hold on him, Violet turned him around to look at her. "Plant, listen very carefully to me." She said, her voice more serious than usual. "Verglas killed Rio and ate him. I saw everything. For your own safety, you aren't allowed near Verglas." There was almost a hissing tone woven into her voice and a glare in her eyes, showing Plant how serious she was about this. Normally, she would never act like this. But she needed Plant to listen to her.

There was a light put put as the Snover walked down the streets, his red eyes on the lookout for his friends and some humans. It was strange, he had traveled such a distance from his home yet he hadn't found a single human.. that was alive at least. He had heard that cities were usually very noisy places but this one was quiet which comforted the mountain native. A noise was drifting through the air though. It seemed to be voices but they were too far away for Verglas to catch. "Plant is that you?" He asked in its direction, but he was too far for whoever to hear him ether. In fact, he was too far away to even see the owner.

Picking up the pace he headed off in the direction the voice was coming from. It'd be great to find/be found already, but if it was a new Pokemon, hey that would be even better! He could ask if they had seen any humans on their way over to this city! With each step the voices picked up but they still weren't clear enough to hear yet. I'm coming!" He announced.
    ________

Although he had a head start the Snivy had been pinned by the spider. He writhed in a desperate attempt to flee from her grasp but it was futile, Violet was much larger and stronger then him. "No, let go!" he yelled scrabbling at the ground with tiny hands. "Plant, listen very carefully to me." She flipped him, still holding tightly so he couldn't continue his flight. The Snivys eyes were tightly closed in the effort to break free, "No no no let go. LET GO." He was already tired from all the running around he had done, trying to free himself now was simply exhausting. "Verglas killed Rio and ate him. I saw everything. For your own safety, you aren't allowed near Verglas." Plant cracked his eyes open while he struggled, and saw a coldness to her eyes that made him freeze up with clenched muscles.

His breath stopped for a moment as he was scared stiff. His friendly spider friend was scaring him. She wasn't being his friend at all! Muscles twitching from the clenching the Snivy went back to his struggle. "No! I don't care, Verglas is my friend. He wouldn't do that. He wouldn't do that. Your just a big liar!" Scowling at her he let loose his Vine Whip. The long green vines wrapped around Violets slender legs, pulling at them until they released the child. Dashing away a bit he glared her down with Leer. Hopefully she would look into his eyes, and not approach. "Liar!" He yelled, exasperation and effort was causing him to pant. Retracting his vines Plant took a step back and turned hard, thrusting his Razor Leaves toward Violet.

Violet was shocked at what Plant had done. He used his Vine Whip to get out of her grip and glared at her. She backed away in confusion as he yelled at her. "No! I don't care, Verglas is my friend. He wouldn't do that. He wouldn't do that. Your just a big liar!" Violet stood there, heartbroken. Tears formed in her eyes as she was attacked by his Razor Leaf attack with one last "Liar!" comment. She fell to the ground, shaking from the tears in her eyes.

The Ariados crawled away sobbing. She took one last look back at the Snivy, who was still mad at her, before crawling away. She made her way to her shelter, which was James' house. She crawled onto his bed and continued her crying. Her heart had been broken by her only friend. Violet may never come across another friend like Plant. "I'm sorry Plant..." She said. "Please believe me... I just want you to be safe..." He had a grown to be like a little brother, almost... and he denied her warning...

The Snivy stormed off in a huff. Tears bubbled at the egdes off his eyes with each heavy step. Blinking them away he simply left his eyes tightly shut though the tears continued to seep through. "She doesn't know anything.." he whined wiping his eyes, "Nothing but a big liar." "Plant?" The Snover was walking in his direction, confused as to why his friend was crying, "Whats wrong?" Plant sniffed, and continued with heavy steps and his head down. "Nothing. We don't need Violet. We don't need no one." Grabbing the Snover's hand he continued on, brooding while dragging Verglas along with him. The dual type stumbled in step with him more or less willingly. "Were you not able to find her?"

Plant stopped and whipped around to face his friend, dropping his hand in the process. "No! She's not our friend no more. We can play stuffs without her." he was exasperated, yelling at the Snover even though he was innocent. "What happened?" Obviously he had missed something while they were separated. "Plant tell me!" Verglas touched a branch-hand to the shoulder of the grass type, but the Snivy turned his back to him once again. "She said bad things 'bout you then said we can't play no more."

Scratching his head Verglas didn't see how that didn't make them friends. More curious, what could a kind Pokemon like Violet possibly of said about him? "That's not very nice, but happened Plant?" "Violet said that Verglas ate Rio. She said he's dead n we can't play together! But your not doing nothing see! Violet lied to me. Lied to us." Plant crouched to the ground, covering his orange-brown eyes with his hands. "Why would she do that..?"

An uncomfortable feeling plagued the Snover as he tried to explain himself, now realizing what he had done. "Well, I did have some of a Liepard but I don't think it was Mr. Rio. The eyes didn't look the same." Technically it wasn't a lie, right?

What? Wait.. what?? "You did eat a Pokemon? [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Verglas gross! You don't do that, little Pokemon don't do that!" Disgust hit him hard. Staring at Verglas he felt as though he throw up. "I don't know," The Snover mumbled unsurely, "it tastes better then berries to me." A bout of coughing struck the Snivy as a pre dry-heave. The thought of the tiny Snover killing- No. Eating another Pokemon was just sickening. Though he was a child Plant knew that Pokemon killed each other. It was horrible but it happened. Tiny Pokemon didn't though. Why did Verglas! Plant shook his head in denial, trying to think of something to say. "guess maybe eating something that tastes better then another would happen to me too.. but not with another Pokemon!"

Shaking his head Verglas felt disappointed in himself. "Im sorry Plant, I didn't know it would bother you like this. I'll try not to or something." But the Snover didn't feel confident in what he was saying. Maybe just species he hadn't made friends with?

The need to vomit wasn't leaving the Snivy though. There was no danger in the presence of the Snover but the thoughts of what he did, the images it made, were too much for Plant to handle. Disgusted, exhausted, and crying, he had lost a friend, attacked another, and put the last in question. Oh dear Butterfree he attacked Violet! The realization crushed what was left of the Pokemons spirit. "Your not the only one who did a bad thing.." He sniffed hard and looked straight at his friend. "I hurt Violet.. I attacked her!" he cried out, daringly using the word 'I'. Plant got to his feet, again grabbing Verglas' hand and darted in the direction he had fled from. "Come on, we gotta make everything all better, Verglas!"

Run. Running as fast as little legs would allow. The Snivy's small hand was clasp tightly on the discolored arm of the Snover, pretty much dragging him as they rushed forward. He had to get to Violet. He had to apologize and made it all better. He had to say he was sorry to her. "Come on Verg, we gotta go faster!" The Snovers stubby feet weren't nearly as fast as his anxious friend. "Plant slow down, I'm gonna trip." The Snivy only quickened his pace as the tears blurred his vision.

The space where they had had that fight was coming into view. Just a few more buildings length and they had arrived. Plant was panting with fear, where had she gone? Small whines escaped through his teeth and his nerves got to him. "Viiiiiolet??" he called out for her to no avail, the spider had long since fled this spot. Verglas placed a sympathetic hand on the grass starters shoulder, "Maybe she's still close by?"

The Snow Tree looked around for any sign of where Violet could of gone. Each stone tile of the ground looked the same and wouldn't hold much of a foot print especially with Violet's being so very small. Then he spotted it; small red blots, a thin trail of fresh blood drops. "Plant look! I think this is from Violet." He pipped pointing to the trail. The Snivy turned to the spot nearly jumping out of his skin at the sight. He had caused that blood, her blood, to spill. Tears dribbled down his face even faster as he ran clumsily after the blots, too wrapped up in this shame to control his motor skills properly.

One drip, two drips, there was the third drip and the fourth. He followed them intensely. Violet was at the end of this trail, he was almost there. He was almost to her. Plant was panting from the exertion when he came to a house. The door had been pushed closed but was still not completely shut. The drips could be seen on the ground leading inside and slightly smeared on the door itself.

Violet was in there. His little eyes went wide at the though and the Snivy pushed the door open busting into the room. "Violet!" He squeaked, "Im sorry Im sorry I hurt you Im sorry!" His eyes took in the room; the blood trail ended at a bed with a blood splotch on it but nothing else. Violet wasnt here. "Euhh.." His tiny legs would no longer support him as Plant crumpled to the ground in a sniveling ball of tears.

Verglas had turned a different direction then Plant. At the house he noticed more of and a thicker blood trail coming from the back side. It left a bad feeling in the Snover as he followed it through the backstreets of the city. He would of called for Plant but he was too overtaken with tears now. The farther he traveled, the more blood the trail contained. Thicker, heavier. Refusing to let any nerves get to him the brave Snover kept going.

What laid before him was not for the faint of heart ether. Faint whines and grunts came from the half-eaten Ariados and undead Sandslash, respectively. Its bloodied quills were naturally red from there shiny coloration but the fresh crimson layer on them was not. Its one scarlet eye stared at the Snover as though unsure what to do. Its mouth opened to reveal red and black bloodstained sharp fangs as it shrieked with a demonic shrill. Violet was trapped beneath its long claws and could only wince at its cry.

The Snover didn't know what he could do. The undead pulled its thick claws from Violets abdomen, gushes of thick blood following. She whined in pain as her body shuddered. Slowly it moved closer to Verglas, its one glowing eye locked on him as its next kill. Taking one step back in a moments hesitation the Snover blasted the Sandslash with an icy burst of Powder Snow. The ear piercing cry it let out was coated in ice, smothering the sound until it was dull and quiet. But the Sandslash was not detoured. With one hand and half its face frozen it continued to come at Verglas guns blazing.

He ran, moving his stubby feet as fast as they would go until he literally dashed so fast his form stayed in place with his Double Team. "PLANT!" He called out as hail began to fall around the fighting Pokemon. If Violet was going to die, judging by all that blood and gore she didn't have long, the Snivy needed to be there asap. As the insane ground type slashed at his copies Verglas spat more Powder Snow at it, scoring direct hits to the dumb creature.

His trick only lasted so long before he was slashed in the back from the Sandslash's spiky quills. The Rapid Spin laced his back with long gashes which dripped drops of dark blood into the bright red trail of Violets. Verglas let out a wail of pain and several Razor Leaves in his defense. They pelted their target, causing blots of darkly colored blood to ooze from its discolored skin as well. "Leave!" He yelled at it. That was twice he had risen his voice which wasn't like the quiet Snover at all.

Though his attacks were super effective the undead still came at his comrade. It landed another powerful claw through his side strengthened Fury Cutter. The attack knocked the wind from the Frost Tree making him collapse to the ground. The Sandslash slowly came closer until he was looming overhead. The Snover made another attempt to strike, sending a few stray Leaves at its face.

At least one found its target in the creatures last eye. The ear splitting curse of pain was its parting gift as the ground type fled back to the rocky outcrops. Verglas forced his way back to his feet. Violet, didn't have much time left. His head was swimming with fogginess but he stumbled over to her, "Its gone, Violet, I tried." he voiced weakly to her. She tried to speak but all that came was a mouthful of blood, but the look in her eyes told it all; You tried to save me and I forgive you. The hail was stopping, but the solid and melted fragments of ice made the scene have a shiny, surreal red glow.

There was a horrified wail as a green bullet darted up to the spider. She was missing two walking legs and one of the remaining was only a stub. Her abdomen was half gone and a bloody soupy mess. The majority of her body was covered in her own blood as well..

Verglas will never forget the look on Plants face as he saw her. "Im sorry Im sorry.. Im sorry.. Momma please don't leave me. Im sorry.. " The Snivy didn't know what a mother was yet he had found one for himself. "We can make it all better, things will be okay again.." he begged life for her, clinging tightly to the spiders head. Her blood dirtied his skin but he didn't care. "No no why.. Violet please dont go.. Momma don't die.. please.."

The spider was able to mumble a few weak words. They were smothered with the gargles of blood but the sounds of 'forgive', 'love', and 'son' still came though in their broken sentences. Then there was a small outward gasp that came from her, and the light faded from Violets eyes forever.

The Snivy's cries filled the solemn air.

    Pewter City | Late Evening
    17 | 14

The sun was going down, casting darkening orange streaks across the sky. The city was quiet, only the soft hum of the wind keeping it awake. This silence was not natural though. It was that of sadness.

There is a space in Pewter that has a large grassy field covered in wildflowers and a few trees dotting its gentle slopes. In the warmth of the day they bloom into a shower of color. It was a beautiful spot. It was also, where Violet was to lie at rest.

Moving her, was a horrible, tedious, scarring, time consuming task on the children. They were small. She, was much larger. By the time they had gotten her to the field both kids were coated in a fresh layer of blood. Each flower that grew above the the space they were to dig, had to be carefully dug up and preserved. A task Plant was used to. With them safe, they started to dig.

It was a slow going task. Each small handful of dirt hardly meant a thing. Both the Snover and Snivys hands burned with raw pain when the hole was finally deep enough. If it wasn't for the blood, half her body missing, and that her eyes her dull and lifeless, Violet almost seemed peacefully asleep in the hole. Plant's body was again petrified with sadness.

Verglas cast a sad glance to his friend before beginning to fill in the grave. He had pondered freezing the spider but for the sake of Plant decided against it. The grass starter had again composed himself, assisting in filling the hole in. Then, carefully, he replanted all the flowers back on top of the spot. He had rearranged them so that the colors, almost formed what looked like an Ariados. More tears fell from his eyes.

They stayed there for a long wile. Quiet, tearful, staring at the flowers that softly flowed in the breeze. There was a tree next to the grave site, the shadow drifted across the way to show the time if the darkening sky did not already say so. It was getting late. It wasn't long before nearly all the light had left the sky and the stars were beginning to shine. The day that had started out so great, and turned so horrible, was finally coming to a close. The Snivy gathered himself up and trudged out of the field with eyes cast to the ground.

It seemed he knew where he was going, so Verglas followed behind quietly. Plant didn't seem like talking, which was expected; he didn't feel up to it ether. They walked a path that seemed so very familiar to the Snivy, despite his lack of animation. Something he had traversed many times. They came up to another grove of trees, thickly overgrown with horribly dense shrubs lining their bases. If one could see behind them, there was a large building standing in the near distance.

Plant dove in through a tiny hole at the bottom of the shrub. Was it an entrance of sorts? Verglas followed to find the ground had been dug in a few inches and some overlying branches of the shrubs removed to create a fairly open space from within. The floor was lined with dead leafs and moss, making it plush and lovely. It was considerable warm in here, he noted, though it wouldn't be hard to make it cool. "Plant's home.." he muttered, but it was unclear if the statement as an answer or just a declaration.

The Snivy flopped down on his side, thrusting his tail over his face. It was puffy and red, eyes burning and pinkish now from the tears that were nearly dried up. Verglas looked at him, then to his own wounds; Plant had helped him treat them as best he could, which wasn't much, after they moved Violet. The blood on them both though, still needed to be cleaned. It was odd, his wounds didn't hurt as much as he thought they should of. Regardless, the Snover relaxed into the leaves. It wasn't the most comfortable thing ever, but the space itself was quite comfy.

There was a long pause of silence. Nether child was asleep nor speaking. When all the light had faded from the sky, Plant finally willed himself to roll over and look at Verglas with his pain-filled eyes. "Goodnight, Verg.." he murmured as loud as his voice would allow. The gesture was oddly placed but welcomed, "Night, Plant."

Pewter City [Plant's Nest] | Late Morning
    18 | 15

The light of day was bright and warm as it shined lazily through the thick branches of the shrubbery. Verglas blinked his red eyes open from light sleep to find that Plant was not in the place he crashed last night, but a small pile of yellow and blue berries was. The berries that grew up in the mountains were few, usually hard and dry in taste. His own snow berries, though not in season, were much tastier. Pushing his stubby body into a sitting position he brushed off any leaves and moss that clung to him after the nights slumbers. Verglas concluded that his friend had left these for him, wherever he may be now. He moved closer to inspect them; they were plump and healthy, full of juicy nutrition. Half were Oran berries, the others, which he had only seen once or twice before, he recognized as Sitrus.

Bah, berries didn't sound pleasing at all. He ate one yesterday to be polite, but the thought of eating more simply made his stomach churn. With a sigh though, the Snover guessed that Plant wasn't any any condition to take a refusal from the kind gesture. Slowly he opened his mouth and ate three of the berries, not paying attention to the colors. The taste made his mouth dry and pleasant, this was not the food for them. That was enough to put a dint in the stack so that it shouldn't offend the Snivy. Good. Verglas carefully collected him and backed out of the nest to the expanse of Pewter, the sunlight blinding him for a moment.

He had been in the city an entire day and, like all the other cities he had been in, hadn't seen any humans. Well, living one at least. Verglas began to wonder where they were hiding. He had traveled such a long way from his home, from the girl.. but the thought broke away as he saw the heavy-footed Snivy slinking his way. The red look to his eyes told him he hadn't slept well last night, but who could blame him. Clasped in his tiny green hands was a sturdy wooden bucket. "Hey Verg," He muttered dully, his shoulders slouched forward without care, "Lets go get cleaned up." The blood smearing both of their bodies was long since died to them. The dark red clashed terribly with Plants green scales. Verglas took a quick look at his own body, blood on him from who knows how long. Maybe cleaning up wouldn't be such a bad idea.

The Snivy lead the way to the complete other side of town and out to the route past it. It was strange, there had to be water closer, but it seemed Plant was going somewhere specific. It took a good while but by the time they made it, Verglas could see why. Trees protected the space, and a river that ran though came to a shallow spot so the kids wouldn't be swept away. Plant crept close to the waters edge and filled his bucket full. He splashed the cool liquid over his eyes, reducing the redness a little and reviving his face. "C'mon Verglas." The Snover waded his way in as well.

The water was refreshingly cool, not nearly as cold as the rivers that would run down the mountains in the warm seasons. Plant came over, asking then proceeding to removed the scarf tired to his arm. It was the first time it had been removed since he had tied it there long ago; the wound beneath didn't look much different. Regardless, Verglas scrubbed at his body, letting the bloodstains lessen in the clear water. He would wince at a dull sting to the new wounds as he washed over them. Fresh blood running through the water as each dab. No matter how much he washed though, the discolored bruise-like marks on him refused to cleanse themselves. His usually white coloration still looked dirtied to a brownish tint.

Plant did the same, with slow strokes he carefully removed Violet's blood from his scales. It made the water run red, but it would soon wash away downstream, flowing farther and farther as the river cleansed itself. With the bucket, he dumped the water on the Snovers head as he washed, and Verglas did the same to him. By the end, they were both much, much cleaner, practically glowing from the suns reflection. Plant even took the time to clean the tattered scarf as best he could and wrap it back around the wound on Tree-bulbs arm. He was much whiter, Plant noted, then when they had met the day before.

The bath had brought some pep back to the Snivy, he was still sluggish and groggy voiced, but he tried to make conversation and not stare the ground quite as much. "Whatcha wanna do now?" He asked with as much inquisitiveness he could muster. It wasn't much. "I don't know, Id say look for humans but their doesn't seem to be many here." Normally, Plant would of asked why he was so attracted to 'hoo-muns', but a gurgle came from the Snivy's stomach. "Well, didn't get ta eat any of those berries for myself. Could we go back?" There was a small flip in the Snovers' stomach at those words, "I dont mind." He said. As long as I don't have to eat anymore.

The pair made there way back to the Snivy's home, grateful for the cushy flooring to relax on after tracking back and forth. Plant drove his tiny teeth into the a Sitrus berry, starving from not eating in nearly 24-hours. From the games, the emotions, and the focusing work yesterday, food hadn't been on his priority list. This morning, gathering them was merely something to keep him busy. He wasn't even hungry at the time. Now though, he was famished. He chewed the berry slowly, swallowing hard to say, "I miss her.."

    Pewter City [Plant's Nest] | Late Morning | 19

The Snivy blinked his sore eyes as he chewed the Sitrus berry. The rush of flavors overtook his mouth yet he was hardly phased as he slowly chewed it, lost in his thoughts of the previous day. From all the fun, to all the tears.. To say the least he was feeling pretty crumby. The rejuvenating properties of the berry wasn't much condolence ether. Was he supposed to be ashamed, regretful, depressed? Or resentful, spiteful, and vex? He just didn't know what to feel, but his belly sure did. It felt twisted, knotted and painful, from hungry or emotion he could not tell.

With a heavy sigh Plant grabbed another berry, an Oran this time, from his small pile of spoils. He hardly even looked at Verglas but was more then aware of his presence within his home. The Snover, his friend, admitted to killing. Violet had accused him of so, though Plant had denied it then, but she also said that it was Rio. Verglas only said he killed a Liepard (which was amazing/horrifying to think of), that could be any of them. But then, where is Rio? A silent sigh puffed from his mouth.

His belly flopped inside him, making the process of eating nearly impossible as Plant put his food down. He had let Violet down, betrayed her and gone against her wishes. She had only wanted good for him, her son, and he blew that completely away. Now, she was gone. He couldn't make it up to her. He couldn't explain the truth to her. It was just him and a.. murderer. He looked to the Snover. No.. Verglas was still Verglas. Still his friend. He had, tried to save Violet from the Sandslash, with the wounds to prove it. Even though he had gotten hurt, even though she had claimed such foulness on him, even though she would of still died..

A vexed feeling crossed through him and he glared at the undead, ever so sly that he couldn't see it. Was he supposed to he angry, or sad? Who was to blame for her death? Him or Verg. He didn't have his replacement mother anymore to tell him, to explain these things. Only another Pokemon his age.. Only someone like him. What was that again? A, broohur? Plant blinked. Brother. He stared at the berry beside him with wide eyes, a slight reflection in the juices. Brother! Maybe Verglas was a killer but he, he had played with him, agreed with him, he slept, washed, and worked with him. The Snover had been like a brother.

Tears dribbled down Plant's face and splashed into the mossy floor. There was a heavy quiver to his lip and a small hand wiped his eyes. "Momma.. I gots a brother." He whined quietly, looking awkwardly as Verglas with shiny eyes and a big smile. I promise to be a good big brother momma.. I'll show you he's good.

    Pewter City [Plant's Nest] | Late Morning | 16

The Snover attempted to get himself comfortable once more in the spongy moss, though a particularly sharp twig was jabbing the slashes on his back. He shifted until he could remove it, feeling a thin trickle of dull blood touch his hand. Plant seemed to only vaguely take notice that he was even eating a berry, his eyes distant and fixated on some far off point. Verglas felt a bit of guilt, unable to help his friend but what was there to do? His eyes drifted to the stained scarf on his arm that Plant had reapplied.. he had to do something.

The small space with all its padding, two bodies, and the growing sunlight was getting increasingly hot. The Ice type wasn't used to such climates. Getting to his stubby feet Verglas shifted over to another spot that was better shadowed and cool, noticing a dark passing glance from Plant in the process. "You okay?" He asked a bit nervously, but the only response was an expression of a sigh not accompanied by sound. "Plant?" This time, he looked at the Snover with his large orange-brown eyes. They still looked distant, as though peering inside of him. Small bits of confusion bobbed in his brain as he shifted his tail across the floor. Something was on the Snivys mind past the fact of Violet's death.

As soon as it stared, it changed. The glazed looking stare turned dark with a glaring glance, then to epiphany with wide eyes. Verglas shifted onto his feet as tears oozed from Plant's eyes and down his cheek in fat blobs. "Momma.. I gots a brother." The Snivy uttered, making a "Wha-what, Brother ? Me?" response happen without thought. It was completely unexpected and caught the dual type off guard. The creepy wide smile and shininess to Plant's eyes as he moved slightly closer only added to this.

The Snover hadn't seen any other Pokemon with Plant that he could think to be 'family', also there was the fact that he didn't seem to be talking to someone in the room. Violet.. Verglas blinked hard his red eyes, the skin on his cut eye tugged faintly against its wound trying to take the surprise away from his face. There was a weakness to Plant's face, like he was on the verge of breaking down. To deny him now would push him over.

Nodding with a soft smile Verglas tried to keep his voice light. "Yeah, brothers!" Maybe this could be fun, and brothers liked to do stuff and help each other with things, right? "What do you want to do first then." He honestly liked Plant's home, but the cramped space was just not his type. "Maybe.. something outside?"

Yes. Yes. Plant found it hard to breath not from sadness but from some serendipity that he was in fact not alone after all. He had lost Violet, hardly calling those last moments a final goodbye, but he still had someone with him who he could call family. Verglas. A small green hand passed over his eyes to clear his vision from the blurring tears. "Yeah, brothers!" Verglas chimed, letting the Snivy make a small puff of a sigh.

He smiled with a near-crazed look to his face. He was, happy? His stomach knotted in a way that made him feel sick, yet it wasn't completely unpleasant. He had just been grieving, depressed, hurting, broken, and now he was smiling with a 'happy' feel? "What do you want to do first then." What did he want to do now? A tiny "Heh.." came from his maw his Plant's leaf-tail wrapped around his feet.

They were kids, they were supposed to be playing and carefree. Or at least, that is usually how he felt. That's what a kid was supposed to do, right? Bubbles in his tummy told him that 'carefree' behavior wasn't going to happen. "Um well, we can uh.." The Snivy stuttered, trying to think of something to do with his current.. mood. "Maybe.. something outside?"

Outside? Like, of his home? Plant blinked in confusion, cocking his head to the side. When he first ventured into this city, he missed the trees horribly. This was supposed to be a temporary nest for him, a place to go when he was tired of exploring or the stoney town but didn't want to walk all the way back to the trees. It had turned into his permanent residence, a safe haven and of nature. His home.

The entire city was like his home now. The feeling of grass under his feet was the best but he loved to explore this place each day. He knew a lot about it, including the dangers that it could hold.. Plant's expression fell. Violet didn't know, and I didn't tell her.. He had seen that Sandslash before. It prowled around increasingly often. His small hand clenched into a fist. I shoulda protected her.

He took in a breath, "Yeah, I know exactly what we are gonna do." Plant crawled into all fours and stepped out of his Nest, enjoying the feeling of the uninterrupted sunlight along his back and leaf. He would keep his family, protect them. "We're gonna go battle stuff." If they became stronger, is he got stronger, no one would be taken from him ever again.

    Pewter City | Late Morning | 17

Verglas was a bit relieved as he watched Plant crawl from the shrubbery and back out into the stone colored city. "Yeah, I know exactly what we are gonna do." He quickly followed suit, enjoying the cool breeze that blew in the air. "And that is?" He questioned the somewhat ominous tone to the Snivy's voice. "We're gonna go battle stuff." The Snover caught a look from his orange-brown eyes that sent worry through is cold body. "Battle?" The fun-loving Snivy wanted to battle for the wrong reasons? Not to mention he had just battled and the wounds on his back seem to be burning.

Was Plant being spiteful because he of the Sandslash incident? Was he simply angry that he couldn't save Violet? Bubbles gurgled in the Snover's stomach. If Plant want to fight him.. well, he had the type advantage. Not to mention he had a trainer who taught him how to use his moves. He could win easy against the Snivy! Oh. His trainer.. The girl was still waiting back on the cliff for her little Snover to come with help. His red eyes squeezed closed. Im trying to find help I promise! He opened them again to have his sight drawn to the scarf on his arm.

"Yeah, we can do that but," His gaze wouldn't let go of the scarf, "Maybe we could patch up my wounds first?" It brought back more memories of her, of their fun times together. His quest had brought him such a far way from home to such strange new places. He had run into many dangerous and violent Pokemon as well. Maybe.. battling and getting stronger wouldn't be a bad thing. Maybe if I am stronger this wont happen again..

He stared for a moment at the gash in his side, it didn't hurt as bad as the others. Honestly, they all only hurt as a dull sensation instead of an agonizing pain. It was a relieving thought. "Once these are covered we can go battle our levels up." Hopefully Plant knew where some bandages or cloth was, he did live here after all. Vaguely Verglas remembered coming to the red-roofed buildings he see's in every town and feeling much better in them. "I think I know where some are."

Verglas didn't seem overly excited at his plan yet the Snover didn't object to the idea ether. Plant simply turned his head at his brother's voice, "Yeah, we can do that but," The 'but' caused him to blink and look longingly at him. "Maybe we could patch up my wounds first?" Plant stared longingly at Verglas' wounds. They looked painful and raw, yet they seemed worn and aged. It was odd, theyre age impossible to tell if he hadn't already know.

"Uh, yeah." He stammered lightly, pushing himself onto his hunches to look at the wounded Snover. "We should get those patched up before the battles. Wouldn't want them getting worse or something." There was a tug at his small heart. What if this was supposed to stop him from going? They had to get stronger, and be able to protect themselves. To protect each other. Worry began to roll down his soft green body. "Once these are covered we can go battle our levels up." It faded quickly though. He's in it with me. Softly, Plant smiled at him.

"Alright, lets go get you all cleaned up then." The Snivy paused to think of where something to wrap him up was. Two places came to mind when Verglas said, "I think I know where some are." The Frost Tree was peering off toward the Pokemon Center in the distance. A cold, heavy feeling plagued the Plant's stomach. Yeah, there. He took in a deep breath in attempts to keep the smile he finally got back. "Me too, come on." Sliding back to all fours the Snivy lead the way over to the Pokemon Center through a path with the least obstructions. The Red-roofed building looked the same as it did the day before yet it now held a dark air to it. He shuddered.

Climbing in through the window, helping Verglas as well, Plant scanned the messy foyer for bandages. Bandages The thing on Verglas' arm. There was plenty of papers, bottles, and boxes littering the ground. Searching each one he didn't find any of the what he wanted. He looks with his orange-brown eyes to the back rooms, many of which were locked. He stepped closer to them, planning to find an opened one when a roll of the bandages bumped his foot in the dark. With a grin he picked it up with his small green hands and stepped back over to the Snover. "I found some."

"Lets see if I can do this. Hold still.." Carfully Plant unwrapped the bandages, wrapping them around the Snover in moderately tight strokes. The first layers were tinged with dark blood that he disturbed with the action, but soon it was all clean looking. With one last slow, tight loop, Plant tied off the wrappings and stepped back to review his work. It looked as neat at the one on his arm, bringing a bubble of pride to the Snivy. "I think that looks pretty good. Now its battle time."

Heading back out of the Red-roofed building, making sure to take a firm glance to the shadows on the way out, the pair headed back over to the Forested Route of Plant's birthplace. The feeling of the trees around him was comforting and natural, the feeling of the grass much more relaxing then that of stone. They walked a fair distance into the trees before the Snivy stopped them. "Okay," He said to Verglas, "There is lots of little things around here. Lets battle some!"

Plant seemed apposed to the idea at first but more or less relaxed to it. There was a soft smile to his serpent face, honest and gentle. It was good to see it once more. Soon, hoped Verglas, Plant would be able to recover enough to be his cheerful self that he was when they first met. "Alright, lets go get you all cleaned up then."

The Snivy lead him over to the Pokemon Center, and Verglas was thankful for not having to walk around and climb constantly over large piles of rubble. The doors of the Pokemon Center looked quite heavy and were dented in slightly. Luckily Plant already knew that the nearby window was completely gone and helped the heavy Snover through it with his vines. "Thanks," He said gratefully. Inside it was dark and rather dirty but the space was exactly what he remembered. There had to be bandages around here!

Peeking in boxes and around books Verglas found many items he vaguely recognized. There was Potions and Pokeballs, though the latter seemed broken. He was slowly examining a gold colored bottle when Plant came back with a dull white colored roll. "I found some."" There was a tone of excitement to his voice. Was the old Plant coming back?

Verglas took the roll and stretched out the bandages, "I think I got this.." He mummbled trying to wrap it around, but the strips weren't overly neat, a deja vu event for the dual type. "Lets see if I can do this. Hold still.." With deft, careful hands the Snivy covered his wounds as though he had done it many times. It was new to grass type, yet his intent on his task was memorizing. With each strip a soothing chill ran through the Frost Tree's body.

He finished it off, not the neatest but good enough to make another smile cross his face with pride. Verglas looked himself over; neat bandages covered most of his body, making him look snowy-white all over. His face was still uncovered, the purplish color to it harshly contrasting against the clean wrappings. "I think that looks pretty good. Now its battle time." The Snivy was regaining himself, and after helping Verglas through the window once more the pair made their way over to the woods from earlier.

Plant stopped, he had still been traveling on all fours and sat himself back on his hunches. "Okay, there is lots of little things around here. Lets battle some!" If the brothers had ears, they would of been rotating in search of sound. It wouldn't of been needed though, as the noise Plant had made already attracted a pair of Rattata's, one of which was much more purple then it should it. Both had a very dark look to their eyes as they strafed from the bushes.

"There!" He called, drawn to both of the rodents but deciding to go for the odd one simply because it was closer. Quickly swinging his arm Verglas threw several sharp Razor Leaves at the Rattata. The scored marks in its deep purple pelt causing the vicious creature to hiss at him with large fangs. It lunged at him with a strange swiftness, barely missing as the Snover dodged it.

Recovering himself he pressed his lips together and blew a cold Powder Snow at the Rattata. White ice formed in its head but the creature kept going until it slammed the Frost Tree in his belly. They were pushed back only a miniscule amount which allowed Verglas to hit it with more of his Razor Leaf. This time its low his was accompanied with a hobble away under its frozen front half. Looking past it to the shrubs it was fleeing to, the little Snover could see more red eyes glowing from within.

Verglas cried out at the sight of a pair of Rattata. The violent looking rodents were creeping up, looking more then irritated that a pair of children were on their turf. The Snover claimed one, leaving the other for Plant to fight. It moved much slower then its partner as if weary of the intruders. Its hesitation would be its downfall.

The vengeful grass type charged the Rat, slamming it with his large head in a Tackle attack. The Rattata was thrown back into a tree with eyes wide in surprise. Not letting up the Snivy swished his leafy tail to let loose a Magical Leaf on it. The glowing foliage flew to their target, shimmering in the light. It screamed, completely unable to defend itself. Plant crouched onto all fours, slowly creeping forward on his prey before making his next move. The Rattata knew it was outmatched and hauled its fluffy tail away in a scurry of paws.

Turning to see how Verglas was doing his orange-brown eyes spotted many reflected eyes within the shrubs. A small gasp came from him as he realized the spot was much too close to the nest. Wait, I thought we were farther away! Hesitation would now be his downfall as many Rattata jumped from the shrubbery and a pair came toward him.

Fear acted before he could. The Snivys vines sprouted to protect him as his small green hands covered his face. They cracked like whips and flailed about without aim in attempts to deflect the striking rodents. One was hit by the plant life and tossed about while the other dodged through them with a burst of speed. "Raaaaatttttt!" It yelled a coherent sound as it slammed Plant with its shoulder. The Snivy was tossed back, his vines going limp on the ground.

His leaf-tail moved over his face defensively, hardly protecting him against the fangs of the Rattata that now sank into the main part of his tail. Squealing in pain his vines came back to life, smacking the creature as hard as he could get them to. The second Mouse Pokemon appeared, slamming into him also well to cause another wave of pain to run through his flank. "No no no!" He cried out as they continued to bite him.

Many of the eyes stayed hidden within the shrubs but two of the rats containing them burst out to attack each of the intruding children. Both Rattata's dashed for the Snover with jaws agape. Standing his ground as firm as he could Verglas spat more ice crystals in his Powder Snow. One of the Mouse Pokemon was hit, scoring a hit to the shoulder and side of it. The other was not fooled and easily dodged it before sinking its teeth into the dual types snowy-colored cap.

He stifled a cry and shook his stubby form in attempts to fling the Rattata. The icy one recovered itself and growled, aching its back with fur and tail raised. Ignoring the pain in his head from the still clinging Rattata Verglas moved his arms to shoot several Razor Leaves at it. They scored cuts throughout its purple and cream fur but the creature pushed through until it too could bite him. His eyes were closed in pain but he forced them open only to see more Rattata emerging to fight them. This is bad..

"No no no!" The sound of Plant's cry caught his attention and he turned to see two Rattata also hanging off of him, more fast approaching. Acting fast the Snover grabbed the purple Pokemon on him, surprise from the action made them loosen their jaws enough for Verglas to rip them off. Dashing, copies of the Frost Tree appeared about the space, confusing the attacking Pokemon until they were all standing still. He stood remotely close to Plant and called, "Plant, cover your ears!" He grabbed a nearby long blade of grass and put it to his lips.

The sound of his Grasswhistle sang through the trees for all to hear. The Rattata's looked about the space unsure of what to make of the sound. At first it wasn't the most pleasant of noises as Verglas' voice was clouded with pain, but as the rats were affected and their teeth loosened on his body it grew to be the perfect set of notes. They wobbled on their feet for a few moments before slumping to the ground in slumber. The two on his covered frame fell as well, desperately trying but failing to stay awake.

"Now!" He cried, shooting sharp leaves at as many as he could. Some woke up and fled, others stayed asleep through the attack. A few tried to attack back, but seeing their comrades flee made them decide against it. We can do it! Their numbers dwindled.

The rodents teeth bite repetitively into his scales. The second Rattata had latched onto his shoulder and blood could be felt dripping down. Pain pounded in his body, tremors rippled through him and a cold sweat broke. There was too many Rattata and too few of them. To make matters worse he was panicking from only two that were upon him. How badly were they going to hurt him for trespassing? "Plant, cover your ears!" Verglas called out. Ears? The Snivy's glossy eyes opened in confusion. Nether of the kids had ears, and what could Verglas be doing that dealt with them? He ignored the facts and thrust his small hands over his ear slits moments before the sound of a song could be heard.

This strange noise intrigued him. Plant wanted to removed his hands and be able to hear it clearly but his brothers warning held clear in his mind. Cover your ears. Fear made sure his hands did not move though his eyes were able to see the Rattata's on him slide off to the ground fast asleep. Slowly the Snivy found himself regaining confidence and returning back onto two feet. Whatever Verglas was doing was working brilliantly!

His confidence was raising with the downed enimes so his legs weren't nearly as shaky. "Now!" His brother let loose the battle call with a burst of leaves. Not to be out done Plant let loose his own Magical Leaf, the shower of colors mingling with that of Verglas. The sleeping Rattata's were pelted with leaves, shrieking, waking, and fleeing for the onslaught. His tail hurt to swing from the bite wounds upon it so Plant switched tactics using his Vine Whip to toss the lingering rodents away. Soon the battle field was next to empty with only a few stragglers still fast asleep or trying to flee.

Panting had overtaken his body from fear and exertion, though now his confidence was returning and Plant found himself standing much sturdier. "We, we did it!" He squeaked to the Snover breathlessly, his hands clapping together with relief. Scratches and bite wounds on his body stung like fury and the panic had sapped much of the energy in his small stature. It wasn't much but that was more then enough battle excitement for the Snivy for one sitting. Or even one day. "Okay.. lets, go-" His words were cut off as the shrubbery rustled loud and unnervingly, accompanied with a low rumbling growl.

His body was cold with fear as his heart pummeled in his chest. The trembling had returned to him now completely uncontrollable. All the confidence the Snivy had recovered and entered the battle with was gone as his eyes laid sight on it; A giant Raticate, black bleeding sockets were eyes should be. The sound was its voice was a horrid wheeze and a fore-paw was missing along with its tail. The smell that came from the zombie creature threatened to choke the Snivy as he realized. That's a big Pokemon.. they kill ones like us..

It was hideous to say the least. The Raticate's fur was splotchy purple and patchy, falling out in many places along with the skin beneath it. Its jaws were coated in blood both its and other Pokemons and it oozed from its mouth in dark bubbles. Verglas stepped into line with his brother trying not to appear intimidated, unlike Plant whos trembling was clearly visible with a look of sheer terror in his eyes. The Snover stood firm on the spot, "Stay calm, we can do this.." He whispered softly to his brother. Dark thick blood dripped slowly from his cap and the wounds from the previous days battle burned under his bandages.

The Raticate made a gurgling, grunting sound as though unable to make actual words. Its dark paws slide forward and bumped into a sleeping Rattata still under the effects of Grasswhistle. The evolved undead shriek a bone-chilling cry and reaching down clamped his long fangs through the purple mouse' body. Its death cries only lasted moments before the Raticate shook it to death, the body falling in pieces to the ground. Its brightly colored blood spilled across the grass as the undead scooped up parts of its meal. A look of horror was still painted on his detached head and Verglas' stomach gurgled with hunger at the sight.

His eyes glanced upward as he could now see hail falling down on the battlefield. His ability had been obstructed by the trees but the bits of hail were now falling freely down on the Pokemon. The small pieces of ice hit the Raticate and Snivy, both crying out with displeasure. At the sound of other Pokemon the Raticate came to life and dashed toward them. It was heading toward Plant, and the Snover was frozen on the spot. He was afraid of the clearly more powerful Pokemon but the sight of Plant cowering..

It happened in a matter of moments. His eyes closed hard, then flashed them open with there red brilliance. I have to be brave.. The Snover's feet moved with incredible swiftness. Not because I want to be.. His form blurred about the space, leaving copies all around. But because I have to be! He slammed the Raticate, feeling its claws dig into him instead of the petrified Snivy a whiskers length away. "Plant you need to be strong!" He whined through the pain, shaking free of the Raticates grasp. Dashing away from the enemy and about the space Verglas cried out as he moved, "Over here!" It didn't have eyes but its ears had to be working.

Obviously they were as it regained itself, turning its head toward him with a rumbling hiss. The hailstones that fell upon it only irritated the undead further as it dashed toward the Snover. Every time it came close Verglas would dash away with his Double Team, the copies pointless against the blind creature. "Plant I need you!" The Raticate shrieked with frustration, stamping its feet in place against the ground. Its oddly colored fur seemed to glow orange. No, it was glowing orange.

The Raticate began to move, the orange light suddenly turning it to fire before them. The horrible sound and smell of burning flesh was coming from its body as it came for the Snover who was now too tired to flee. Collapsed on the ground Verglas' eyes reflected with the light of the Flame Wheel, a hollow feeling inside him knowing the attack was a double weakness to him. Be brave.. His body tensed.

His body shook hard with fear and Plant had to crouch to the ground as not to panic. The Raticate slowly came forward, stopped by a Rattata obstructing its path. Things around him slowed down. All Plant could perceive was the death cries of the Rattata, the ripping of flesh and bone, and each individual beat of his heart. Thump thump. His head pounded, feeling as though it was under heat and pressure.

The Rattata's severed head fell to the ground, the eyes sightless, clouded and staring off as blood pooled around it. Verglas stood by him, probably saying something important that he simply could not hear. Thump thump. Something hit his back, an odd sting remaining in the spot. Thump thump. Whines came from Plant, tears dripped from his orange-brown eyes. Thump thump. The Raticate heard him and turned his way, coming straight at him with jaws agape. His eyes squeezed shut wishing it all away. Thump thump.

What was he doing? He was trying to get vengeance for Violet's death by getting himself killed? She wouldn't want him to die.. to die like this. He didn't want to die here, to feel the pain, to be eaten. Violet wouldn't want to this.. why was he in a battle he couldn't win? The slobbering growls off the Raticate were nearly upon him and the Snivy's body tensed as tightly as possible, bracing for impact. He was a disappointment to his mother.

There was a cry. But it wasn't his. Plant opened his eyes, shocked to see Verglas lunging in front of him literally using his body as a shield. "Plant you need to be strong!" Verglas..? What was he doing? Why was he protecting him when he couldn't even protect himself? Tears blurred the Snivy's vision as he stared petrified, watching the Snover taunt and lead the undead away from him and around in circles. You.. saved.. me? How could he be strong when he.. wasn't..

He simply couldn't move, heart aching in his chest and cold seeping into his bones as the hail continued to burn with icy hotness against his scales. Wh-..why? What had he done that deserved this.. He had brought Verglas here for training but instead he was going to get him killed. "Plant I need you!" His brother desperately called for help, exhaustion slowing and soon stopping his movements. But the Snivy's eyes squeezed shut with agonizing guilt. What could he do to help? He was weak and childish, trying to take out an entire nest of Pokemon out of spite for anothers actions. For something he had caused.

His eyes shot open as the piercing cry of the Raticate hit his ear slits. It ran straight for the downed Snover, body aflame. No.. Verglas didn't move; He had no where to run, and couldn't. No.... He couldn't take a hit like that. "NNNOOOOOOO!" Plant screamed. No one was to take his brother away. He needs me. He dashed as fast as only a Snivy can, leaping between Verglas and the Raticate moments before they collided. He wouldn't allow it to touch his brother.

He took the entire impact, freely allowing the flames to burn the scales on his side. It stung like fury and sent shooting, radiating pain throughout his entire side. The Raticate was thrown away from the Snover, swaying strangely on unsure feet with now blackened fur. Plant stood numbly on his feet, legs trembling from the sheer amount of excruciating pain pulsing through his body. "NOBODY TOUCHES MY BROTHER." Charging, he slammed it with Tackle, the fur still hot from the attack and wreaking from being burnt. "Nobody!" The pair slammed against a tree, a snap coming from within the Raticate.

Moving back he stared it down in pure rage and sent a shower of sharp leaves in its direction. The blind creature seemed confused as chunks of fur and flesh fell to ground, Hail and leaves pummeling it from all sides. Plant did not stop, panting from exertion made his head swim but he refused to let up. The undead hissed and charged toward him with a Flame Wheel once more, but did not make it to the Snivy. Within a few steps, the flames had overtaken the Raticate, burning the undead unnaturally. Plant hopped to the side on all fours, watching it stumble around blind before its body literally collapsed in broken pieces. Dead.

He panted hard, eyes wide with shock but his thoughts blank aside from one thing. Momma.. Im a good brother.. A small smile crossed his face. His panting suddenly stopped, and the world went black as the Snivy fell to the ground.

He, he couldn't believe it. Plant had regained himself and jumped in front of the flaming undead, knowing all too well the pain a fire type could cause him. He had fought it, some Powder Snow aiding the attack. The Undead was defeated, and even killed, though that was due to its own hand. The Snover got back to his feet and looked to Plant who was heavily panting with a grimaced face. Before he could even say anything, the Snivy collapsed. "Plant!" He cried out rushing toward him.

His side was raw with burns from the Flame Wheel, pink, black, and radiating heat. The little Snover didn't know what to do. Plant was unconscious and wounded, he was the same minus the former. He looked about the battlefield, there was blood and goo everywhere, melting hail and small embers that couldn't find life in the wet grass. Clumps of snow and leaves littered the area along with the majority of that Rattata.. Verglas' eyes blinked at the sight, his stomach begging for food. Instantly he forgot about his wounds and the Snivy beside him for the free food that lie about.

He gathered up all the bits and popped them in his mouth, enjoying the rich taste of blood and fresh meat. After working, battling, and eating berries this was the best meal he had had in a good long while. The Raticate lay dead as well, but its rotten, burnt meat tasted just as so; like ash in mouth. Verglas ate a small amount of the Raticate, not wanting to feel wasteful since technically they were the cause of its death. Another Rattata had lost its tail in the scruff, in which the Snover placed in his mouth and sucked on. Yum~

He looked back to the Snivy, his body burning up from the wounds. Vaguely he recalls Pokemon in his mountainous home with fire moves, Medichams and Machokes, but nothing of what to cure the burns. The girl he had been with used something but it was lost to him now. There was something else the group of Snover would use, but the very idea is fuzzy to him now and too hard to recall.

Verglas stares at Plant with hesitation and confusion. Softly as he can the tired Snover blows wet cold snow on the Snivy's burn, his unconscious body twitching in protest from the cold and his elemental weakness. The snow wont last long in this climate but for now it is cool on the burn. Carefully he moves the Snivy onto his back and starts to walk back toward Pewter. Plant needs help but for now he needs to go home. The little Snover stumbles from the awkward weight of the limp Snivy but shall not falter until he makes it to at least the field with all the flowers and shrubs from the day before.

Making it all the way to Violet's grave the Snover lets the Snivy rest in the shade of the tree. He will need bandages and sustenance when he wakes up, but Verglas himself also needs to rest from the battles earlier. Though he didn't want to leave the Snivy alone here something told him he would be okay to rest alone. Picking his way through the town he goes to landmarks he can vaguely remember.

Grabbing the bucket from Plant's Nest and going to a fountain he had passed during hide-and-seek the Snover scoops up water and washes the blood from his hands, careful not to dump the tainted fluid back in the fountain. No one would want to drink water with blood in it. He rinses it when done for the same reason and fills it with fresh water. Placing it back with the Snivy he makes a trip to the Pokemon Center where he grabs the bandages he had found earlier and a few other things that he can't quite remember the use for but feels he might as well take. Another trip leads him to getting the rest of the berries from the Snivy's home, his second solo visit to it now, and a few extra he finds in the fields going back to Plant.

Leaving all the materials next to his brother the tired little Snover lies against the nearby tree. His energy is completely sapped and he doubts he can get back up again without rest. Verglas' shuts his eyes as exhaustion overcomes him.

There was a light, sweet smell. It danced around like a feather in the wind. Delicate and fragile like a pond lily. There was a feeling of warmth and safety around him, keeping him safe from all harm. A voice circled about, calling to him words of serenity and tranquility. It was.. nirvana..

    Then it was gone.

Plant blinked his eyes open, unable to see through the blurriness. How much time had passed? There was a breeze yet everything felt hot. His eyes ached and his head pounded fiercely. There was a stiffness to him as he tried to move- pain shot instantly throughout his body and it felt as though he was on fire. A gasp wheezed out of him from the suffering feel which only caused him to move more and irritate it farther. Delirious with pain the Snivy felt swamped, underwater and drowning. It burned.. it burned bad..

Everything was hot and dry. His eyes stung both dry and watering at the same time. Tears fell down under his eyes that burned like acid. "Wa-water...." His voice was merely a croak, weak and sore with his dry throat. "Waterrr.." He whined not to anyone in particular. He was gasping for air, lungs painful and choking. His thoughts were few, only on that of pain, heat, and water. Every movement, even that of breathing brought more tears to his eyes from the burning sensation throughout his body.

His vision cleared only slightly, enough to see the white form of the Snover and other objects he didn't recognize. "Ver.. glas.." Could he hear him? Plant questioned if he was.. dead, unsure of why there was so much pain but so little response. "Water.."

"Ver.. glas.." He awoke to the moans and whines of his brother, stumbling groggy and disorientated for a moment before stepping into action. The Snivy was panting heavily and burning with fever. "Water.." He pleaded desperately. "I-I got it!" The bucket was full and slowly he tipped it over, dripping the life giving liquid in the Snivy's mouth. Verglas gently poured small bits over Plant's wound and head, hoping to cool him off at least a little from the heat that ailed him. He cringed at first but gave in to the cooling water.

Looking to the medicines he had gathered the Snover could not remember what they were or their uses. He knew they were useful items but did not know any of their use and if they had any at all for this situation. Picking one at random he tried to remember how to use the bottle shaped container. He recalls way back when his trainer used a similar thing on him and mimics the movements she had done. Shaking the bottle he presses on a grip which releases a mist of pale yellow droplets. They settle lightly on the burn, soaking into the injury within moments and started to take effect. At first the Snivy only made small grunts but it quickly turned to violent cries of agony. That's definitely not the right one!

With panicked speed more of the water splashes down on the Snivy, hopefully cleansing the wound of the Paralyze Heal Verglas had used. Casting it aside he picks up another and lets free the pale pink liquid. It has a spicy scent to it and instantly causes an even worse reaction in the Snivy then the last medicine. The Ice Heal had caused the wound to radiate even more heat then before, festering the burn and creating searing pain within. Tears streamed down Plant's face and he cried pitifully. "Sorry.." There was two more bottles and hopefully one was the right one..

With a shake and squeeze a bitter-sweet green spray hits the burnt patch of skin. At first the Snivy refuses like before with quickly he relaxes and almost seems to enjoy the healing medicine. Relief floods over the Snover as he has finally found the proper medicine in the Burn Heal. He coats the entire injury, the loose scales freeing themselves from Plant's body and looking better underneath with a close to natural yellow-green color. The entire thing seemed to clam down, losing heat and redness throughout. It looked much better already and seemed to cause Plant much less pain.

Giving his brother another light drink Verglas looks to the last bottle he had picked up, curious as to its use. It looks different from the others he grabbed yet draws him in an odd feeling of remembrance. It was a good medicine, it had to be. He grabs the much heavier container and messes around with it until he can figure out how to work the spray. The coverage of it is a much larger space, making it impossible to only hit the wound. Veglas let the mist settle all over the Snivy, soaking into his green scales until he almost seemed to glow with health. All of his bites and scratches seemed to clear and cleanse themselves, still their but much less painful.

Plant seemed much better but how did he feel? The Snover leans in closer and cant feel the heat from the burn any longer. Cautiously he asks, "How do you feel?" To his brother.

He couldn't seem to breath. His throat and mouth was so dry yet his eyes streamed boiling hot tears. Water please.. He needed it bad. He wouldn't be able to last like this "I-I got it!" Verglas? The Snover had awoken and was doing something. Plant's sight was still too disorientated with pain to tell what he was doing but it was soon clear as a thin stream of water hit the edge of his mouth. He shifted his neck ever so slightly, allowing his tongue to soak up the life liquid. "Thank.. you.." He took sips as fast as his slow movements would allow. Regaining his breath he felt better but the heat pulsing through his small green body refused to alleviate even with the water in his system.

It revived him, allowing for thoughts to flow easier. Searing pain was dashing through him, making the Snivy feel like a summers barbeque. The grass type hated the hot feeling, wincing at a hot sweat that dripped down his head and into his eyes. This was horrible. Why did he do this? What would Violet say, to seeing her child suffer like this from such a stupid thing? An especially stinging salty tear dripped from his eye. This suffering was for her, for the ignorance he had preformed. The pain moved with each beat of his heart, agony to the child as he lay thinking of his mother.

This pain should be for her, that he was doing it for her. But it wasn't. It was for his foolishness. His vision cleared enough to see the flowers about him. Am I next to you? If he was in her resting spot.. maybe if he died from this it would bring her peace. Peace that he would no longer be suffering. Or maybe life from his spirit. A small smile crossed his snout but was quickly removed with a grimace of pain. Would you accept me dying for you? Would you like to be together again..?

His thoughts snapped back to Verglas instantly as his body began to jitter. Something was making his skin crawl and then burn and sting. He cried in pain, the shooting bolts making his heart beat wild until he thought it would leap from his chest. His small hands clenched into fists around the grass to make it go away but did nothing. Water flushed his scales and the pain dissipated slowing, lingering as it faded. Maybe if he could withstand it.. by being a brave little boy.. he could please the spider..

The second wave of pain made his body heat up and BURN within seconds. It felt as though he was within a flamethrower and on fire. "Make it stop, make it stop!" The agony caused the Snivy to flail about the ground, only increasing his suffering by agitating the wound. He couldn't take it, he was going to break. His body would give in before his spirit. If I die I can be with you.. Tears of agony and plea moistened the ground beneath his large head. We can be together forever..

Then relief. The harmonious feeling cooled his body, feeling like a wave of cool water upon him. The burning and pain was finally started to leave him and his heart eased into a normal beat. Everything felt much better... for a second Plant tried to stand but his limbs would not support him as physical and mental exhaustion was still overwhelming him. Was this what death felt like? To feel peaceful but not be able to move? To almost be forced into resting. I'm dying.. His eyes lied shut and a small gasp of air left him as he expected death to wash over him.

Instead energy flushed through him. Every muscle felt invigorated and ready to use, the pain from any wounds on his body all but vanishing. Soon he felt as he had just awoken from a good nights sleep, rejuvenated and full of life. His eyes opened expecting to see Violet in a bright cloud world. To be welcomed to the world of the dead.

All he saw was Verglas in front of him with an empty bottle of Super Potion in his hand. "How do you feel?" He asked with concern. Overwhelming disappointment and sadness filled the Snivy's heart. "Better.." He mumbled hollowly as another tear dripped from his eye. Physically he was better but emotionally, he was done.

The Snover couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief at hearing Plant say "Better". He sounded exhausted which didn't surprise him after what he'd done. He looked at him with soft eyes and a gentle smile, feeling tired himself from the moments of panic and screaming. At the same time he felt pride that he had been able to help the Snivy when he needed him. He was a good brother! He blinked at a thought. Am I the big brother or..?

Unsure of what to do now the Snover tried to think of something. Seeing the berries he had grabbed he asks, "Are you hungry? I brought those berries from the Nest." He picked one up berries for a moment then set it back down in hesitation.

He stepped back over to the tree and looked to the sky, the sun now getting a bit low, then back to Plant. They wouldn't be doing much if anything else today. He was over tired and Plant needed to rest. Quietly he settled back against the trunk, not feeling up to much talking by his quiet nature and exhaustion. After a while the sweet scent of the flowers around him was a bit too much for the Snover and he couldn't handle it. "I'll be back in a bit." He muttered to Plant as he got up to leave.

Everything felt weird, it was hard to walk. He had brought those bandages but hadn't used them on himself or Plant. Silently he noted that the ones him his body needed to be replaced at they were tattered and messy. He let out a sigh knowing he left Plant there, not necessarily confident that he was safe with it was getting later now but he was set on what he was doing. The Snover walked slowly into Pewter, sluggish movements with a dull pace. Carefully rounding every turn and corner to check for movement or sounds Verglas knew there had to be humans somewhere around here, and he was going to find them!

Verglas seemed happy and bubbly that he was okay while Plant felt lower then he had ever felt before. Lower then the when he saw Violet dying and when he buried her. Lower then being in a fight and dying from a burn. This. Sucked. The thought of being with the spider again, to not be with her now, he had had enough. His tears no longer burned and oozed thickly down his cheeks as he sulked.

He had just built up a moment, a hope that maybe he could be with her again. Now it was gone. He knew it wouldn't happen, she was dead. Dead was dead. He buried his snout in his arms and let the tears drip down to the grass. What now? What could he do? This Pokemon that he had just met suddenly became such a big figure to him, that losing her was like shattering his world. His forearms curled closer and his head turned in. Where was he now? Practically getting himself and his brother killed in a fight with fire, attacking other Pokemon for the sake of it. What was wrong with him..

Verglas had asked about food or something, he was holding a berry up but set it down when he didn't reply. Verglas.. The poor Snover followed him through it all. He had followed his lead blindly from their first meeting. Plant had put him in the face of danger yet the Snover still dragged him to safety afterward. He even went out of his way to heal him and get food/water. He cared for the Snivy, without a word of protest.

His small heart seemed to break in two in his chest. He was no brother. He kept taking or doing things for his own reasons, dragging Verglas around like a plush toy. He even wanted death while he valiantly tried to cure him of his suffering. Fat tears splattered on the grass. Who was he to think of him as a 'brother'. You're the worst kind of brother. He squeezed his eyes shut, and sulked on the ground.

Verglas at some point seemed bored or maybe fed up with his pointless misery and simply walked away. Gone. The Snivy felt completely hollow, cold, and worthless. Abandoned and left to die. What was the point to him? Now even Verglas had left him.. he was all alone again like he had been 3 days ago.. But it was different now. Now he knew what it was like to have constant friends, to have proper companions. To have family. To lose his 'mother', his strange 'uncle' and now his 'brother'.. These are words that had been nearly foreign to him but now meant the world to the Snivy and the Pokemon behind them. He had lost and failed them all. A failure.

Plant lie there for hours. Crying, sulking, sniffing. There was water and berries by him but he had absolutely no appetite. He turned his head to look at the flowers he had planted; they seemed to be thriving well. Violet was beneath them. She would never leave that spot. She would forever be cold and alone in the ground. He couldn't take it now. The sorrow and all the negativity he left in the air here. He forced himself to his feet, the burn on his side feeling much better yet too numb to even notice, and looked at the stuff around him.

To leave it here would be another jab at Verglas who had gathered it all, but taking it with him just felt like an impossible mission for him. There was no way he could do it without stopping and curling into a worthless ball of a fetal position. He wiped a tear from his eyes yet more simply flowed in place. He picked up the half-full bucket, it felt like it weighted a million pounds, and slowly poured it on the flowers. His arms threatened to drop it but he held tight using his vines for extra support.

That small act seemed to drain what was left of his strength. He tried to continue, moving the Heals and empty Potion containers into the bucket. By the time he put the last in he was just so tired and weak and done the Snivy fell to the ground in a puddle of tears. For a moment he tried to rise but failed and gave into the exhaustion as feelings of guilty failure knotted his stomach.

    Pewter City | Afternoon | 24

He marched steadily at a slow pace, many of his bandages finally coming lose from his earlier jonts and activity and falling to the ground. The Snover peeked in each house he could enter for humans and left when all he heard was silence. He kept going, looking in each and every one one until he had to rest for a moment within one of the homes. He lied on a couch and tried to think past his exhaustion.. Where were they? He hadn't found a human that was alive in since his own, he was beginning to question where they had gone. Maybe all of them moved somewhere? He looked to the scarf on his arm; new blood was already staining it.

Where could they of possibly gone? He had been traveling for so long, come so far and yet he had no results. The Snover had been in this town for a couple of days and hadn't had any sign of them. Again. Quietly he wondered if they were even in this town, or anywhere else. The humans were probably in one place out there.. With a sign he knew he would soon have to move now out to check other cities. This one was empty. Shifting in position he knew that that was a difficult task. He had Plant now, and the Snivy was in no condition for him to leave. His discolored green arms covered his eyes in frustration.

"Maybe you would come with me?" He whispered quietly to himself. If Plant would go with him, then he wouldn't have to worry. Even if he didn't know what a human was he wouldn't be bad company. Would he agree to leave though? After he became fit to travel, or at least calmed down from the day before would he even want to leave his home? It was a big change and the Snover knew it. His mountain home was nothing like all the other places he had been. Plant seemed very comfortable here where he knew the layout and dangers. We would meet a lot of challenges. He felt the wounds on his body. A lot of challenges.

The Snover got to his feet and left the building. He rounded back toward Plant a different way then he had came. Hopefully it would lead him back without too much complication since he didn't actually know where he was going. He had to continue his search, his mission! Plant was now the deciding factor in if he was going to do so alone or not.
