Great Marsh | Evening | 15 (Post count carried from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] )
It had been quite some time before that ice cave, and it was warmer out here in comparison, but he had lost Jeriah within the ice maze. The small larvitar was walking alone, the faint smell of a marshland ahead as the scent carried on the air like an ill fog. Rubbing at his eyes with his stubby arms as he was starting to tire from the travel without much of anything to refuel on. Peering ahead he followed the train tracks hoping that his small brother would have followed the metal to food as he walked between them.
Seeing some sort of shape ahead in the darkness, it was hard to tell what it was, as it could have been anything. Gabriel stopped and eyed the object up and down. As it didn't move at all to his approach, he walked closer slowly seeing it was some sort of run down structure proving little worth to linger.
He followed the tracks down a little further hearing the caws of the birds above, slipping off the tracks and following them stomach deep in the marsh gunk. He made himself even smaller and hid his scent in the muck, he didn't want to be found by these birds and he felt that knot getting tighter in his gut. Peering ahead further, he saw some sort of light a fire perhaps, fire meant living. Something darker ran in front of him and he paused, he barely saw it, but decided to keep going.
Moving quicker not to lose whatever it was, trying to remain as quiet as he could wade through the shallow marsh. The fire is getting closer as other Pokemon started to come into view as silhouettes outlined in the light, the shadows they cast seemed whole enough. A thick voice confirmed it, "Someone needs help? Where are the-" the pause in the voice worried him. Did whoever was speaking seen their unknown death, or were the Pokemon nightmarish infected?
Climbing out of the marsh ready for an attack, the fire was beckoning him to come closer as the warmth was within reach. The shapes became a little more detailed as he came closer, remaining as undetected as he could. The fire was the tail tip of a large orange dragon, two smaller vulpine shapes were Pokemon he's never seen before, and a human. Falling off the path into the swampy muck he Looks up, he gathered himself back to his feet.
Glancing at the other pokemon as he must have been detected then, his only hope that they were friendly enough to not just out right attack him. The small black thing from before was a strange ditto with a white mask, the eerie blank expression that made his scales crawl. Rubbing at his stubs he looked to the others, red eyes falling back to the human taking in their features. Gabriel hadn't seen this many humans before in such a short time, but this one was different. More gruff and worn. " You seem in a little rough shape but I'll have to commend your will to fight this long human," trying to say it as more of a compliment.
Next were the two vulpine pokemon, the body shape might of suggested maybe some sort of eevee family branch but he didn't quite know. The purple one looked ill and weak at first impression, but it must have its nature as the weak would have died long ago. Next was the winged version that seemed more comfortable in the sky then on the ground. Before thinking of the bird types above them, " I have never seen one of your kind before," he said, cocking his head to the side now more curious. The two of them seemed to be together in some form of another, and with the rest of the group around them both one of them seemed to be leader. Then seeing the other pink and pastel colors, as it seemed the more outcast of that family, blinking slowly before giving a nod.
Last but not least was the orange dragon whose fire is what had drawn him to find the group. He seemed to be trying to hide the flame from an aerial view, only adding to his growing suspicion that what ever was flying around up there was bad. " I couldn't help but pick up your flame in the distance. From my angle it looked like a beacon." Moving a little closer to it letting the heat bathe over his olive scales, the cold touch from before melting away. Looking at each in turn he came to notice he hadn't given himself a name. " Gabriel... " he said, holding out the stubby arm. Having addressed the whole of the group, hopefully having convinced that he meant them no harm and no ill intentions toward them.
