It was dark, Ho-Oh greatly preferred travelling by day rather than night, mostly because he like dthe bright sun, but also because he seemed more energized when filled with the warm rays of the sun. But at the moment he had to travel at night, not because he wanted stealth, it was rather hard for a giant colorful bird to be stealthy anyways, but because the undead were more active at night. He was still on his pursuit of knowledge, and that pursuit has taken him to his home region in Johto, in Olivine to be precise, it was easily recognized by the lighthouse and because it was near the shoreline.
He needed to know more about the undead that plagued this world, he had seen a few, but they were in the early stages of infection, plus they would attack so they would need to be put down. It was just his luck that the breaking of glass got his attention, taking him to what appeared to be a Café of sorts. The windows were completely shattered with its remains on the inside of the building, something had broken in.
There were 7 pokemon, of many different species, but most notable was the undead one, the umbreon. A paw was missing from the thing, and its rib bones could clearly be seen making him believe it was well into its infection, a prime candidate for observation. He knew he should quickly go in and kill it to protect the others, but it was 6 against 1 in this fight, they would surely not get into any harm, and he feared he would not have another chance like this again.
Ho-Oh watched the undead’s actions against the living pokemon with great curiosity, he had seen undead be able to take hits, but it that after a while they start to grow immune to pain. The more danger the umbreon was put under the more feral it became, it looked to have already lost all previous consciousness in his opinion. And all too quickly things went south.
The wounded golbat retaliated out of nowhere, but that only made the thing madder, and it could not escape quickly enough with that wing. Before Ho-Oh could swoop in and do something about it, the umbreon cut off the wings and took off with the bleeding and crying body, its dark appearance instantly getting lost in the night, one final scream told him the bloody deed was done. Because of his thirst for knowledge, a pokemon had gotten hurt; he had not done anything to help. The guilt was eating him up, he was a legendary pokemon, he was supposed to bring hope, not stand idly by as one got killed in front of him. Ho-oh had to right the wrong he had done, he had to save the wounded bat.
Ho-Oh gracefully swooped to the Café opening, his body not entirely fitting in building, only his neck and most of his wings. The scared and confused pokemon must have many questions for him, but he had something more important to take care of. Only the wings of the pokemon were left sadly, so it would take more energy, but he needed to fix his mistake, so the legendary bird gathered them up into a pile and dug out the sacred ashes in the pouch hidden within his plumage.
Pouring some on top, Ho-Oh covered the pile with his wings, covering his ritual from the world. Fire seemed to dance from underneath the covered wings as Ho-Oh lowered his beak to the pile, filling it with energy. When the hidden fire stopped dancing, he unveiled his wings to reveal the once dead golbat lying underneath. He wanted to explain, to show that he hadn’t meant for that to happen, but they would just be excuses, he had messed up and he should take responsibility. So Ho-Oh got out from the opening and prepared to take off, but not before saying
“Forgive Me.” Guilt evident on his face, the pokemon would most likely have no clue of what he talked about, but it was best not to stay, so he took off into the night.
((So sorry for the long post, I seemed to have gotten carried away...And Ven's death has been recalled. He is to post next, but then the order goes back to normal))
