I peeked gingerly out from behind my hiding place, my eyes wide as I watched the horde of living pokemon retreat to the only building left standing - the Cafe. My fur stood up on as I watched them disappear into the building.
I should probably go see if they are friendly... I told myself silently as I came out of my hiding place, a bush. The green leaves still had many berries growing on it, all round blue oran berries, and I was replilinishing my stregnth with them when I heard the loud talking of the group. I shook a few stray leaves out of my fur and looked longingly at where they had gone. I didn't recognize any of the tye of pokemon they were, except for the golbat and vulpix, for they were more or less common from where I had come from. My eyes glowed in the fading light of evening and I shivered as a breeze went by, chilling my skin beneath my short pelt.
I had better find shelter, and soon, befor one of those things finds me, I told myself, swallowing the fear that rose into my throat.
I never felt comfortible around a pokemon that wasn't of my own kind, except for my father and sister, but I was ruunning out of options. After the mounths of fleeing, just running on end, my paws were always in constant pain and my whole body was sore. I sighed, reaching up to eat another berry with distain. I didn't like to eat food that I hadn't caught. Hunting is the only way my kind should eat.
But... My stomach grumbled in protest and I sighed, swallowing the slimy grossness of the berry. I grimaced, but welomed the feeling of something on my stomach. I had already had several, but I wanted to have enough to keep me good for the night, maybe even days.
I took another one in my mouth, and thats when I heard the hissing noise. My eyes nearly bugged out of my head when I slowly turned to see the one behind the noise. My heard skipped a beat and then drummed fast and harsh against my ribcage. An infected raticte slithered out of the shadows. It was all black and red with the gore of its open gaping wounds and its victeims. It was several meters away from me, and I could easily outrun it, but not forever. The berry still in my mouth, I stepped back slowly, as to not make it attack. Too late. The thing snarled and sprang, thats when I noticed it only had two legs, its back ones, but that didn't hinder it al all.
With a terrified yelp, I sprinted. The raticates splintered teeth left a grove in the ground where I had been only a moment before. With out thinking at all, I used quick attack to reach the door of the cafe. To my horror, the pokemon were already inside and had closed the door. "HELP!" I screamed through the mouthful of berry. Why I hadn't dropped it yet was beyond me, but it didn't matter at the moment. I glanced over my shoulder to check on the infected thing. My eyes got immpossibly wider as I saw the intense speed it had with only its two legs to propell it. "Help me please!" I cried, scratching in vein against the door with blint claws. Out of the corner of my eye I saw the raticate withing a yard or me. "I don't want to
DIE!"
Almost as soon as he cried the last word, Etincelle used tackle against the door, busting it open. He recovered quickly and turned to slam the door back shut with his shoulder just as a lout
crash! announced the raticate's try to get in. Etincelle stood by the door, motionless and breathing hard, as he waited for the raaticate to retreat. He heard a faint hissing and more slithering as it dragged itself away. That was when he realized what had happened. The blue electrike whipped around and stared at the pokemon, terror rising in his throat. "P-please don't put me back out there," he whimpered, setting the erry down onto the ground as he waited for the others to respond.
