The horrid Umbreon soon rose from his attack as if he hadn’t attacked at all! The thing had recovered as if the Hyper Voice had done nothing, albeit its face seemed to contort with anger. Staccato frowned deeply, his muscles tensing; this fight had only just begun. He flapped his wings and prepared to intercept the obviously infected Pokemon, his intent to protect those around him. We can stop this- ack! The Chatot seemed to pause as he was about to move, his back suddenly burning worse than it had even done before.
To add things up, as he lay on the ground (when did he fall?), Staccato winced at the sensation that seemed to drill into not only his back, but into his mind, wiping out whatever train of thought he had. “H-help!” He shouted to anyone, because when he opened his eyes, he saw nothing but a blurry world. Why couldn’t he see? Why was everything hurting suddenly? Why?
The Chatot writhed around in his pain, wanting redemption and respite. “STOP!” He screamed in hurt, bellowing Hyper Voice after Hyper Voice in hope that the burning would subside. It didn’t though, and Staccato didn’t know why! The Music Note Pokemon cried, weeping because his pent up sadness was finally getting to him. For the trainer that died right in front of him, for the missing Faux and the killed Sin, for everything he would have otherwise mourned for but never had the time to. Humanity’s greatest sin: they never have the time to weep properly.
After shutting his eyes, Staccato opened them once again. He could see, thank the heavens. But his back... It’s probably nothing. There were others to be helped. His back had probably just opened again in this recent battle - nothing was wrong! Flapping his wings and getting to his feet unsteadily, the Chatot realized how awfully tired he was. He was gasping for breath, and his feathers were heavy... as if they were weighed from water. The Chatot reluctantly turned his head in horror, finding that the three long scratches on his back were bleeding beyond the point of recognition. ... Maybe it’s worse than I thought.
