Quote | Dig up the bones but leave the soul alone. |
History | Born in the beautiful region of Johto, Jasmine had a rough childhood. Her parents were loving individuals, always spoiling their daughter and giving her whatever she pleased. Being a large and wealthy family, Jaz never knew the meaning of discomfort in her early years. At the age of five, her father brought home a very rare Pokemon called Audio for his daughter. But somehow a Magnemite had followed him from the nearby construction area, making all of the stuck up grown ups gasp in horror at the ugly hunk of metal. The Audino lashed out at the duel type viciously, making little Jasmine cry out in horror. Rushing forward, she shielded and protected the the scared Magnemite. Thus her love of steel types began. Mortified by their child's reaction and adore of the filthy and wild Magnemite, they spent a great deal of time trying to turn her against the cold Pokemon to warmer and fuzzier normal type Pokemon. But there was no success. It became clear that little Jasmine was scared of most Pokemon, comforted only by the Magnemite she befriended that day. But wretched from her grip, the duel type was thrust away as the parents came to a grim conclusion on how to take care of their daughter. Choosing the black sheep of the family, Jaz was sent off to live with her Grandfather, the dad of her mother, who resided in Sinnoh. The young girl was thrust from an uptight first class society, to living on a farm with the older man. He was a jolly old man and lived an easy life with his partner Empoleon. He had many Pokemon on his farm and young Jasmine grew up quickly, learning to take care of herself alongside her Grandfather. She stayed with him for five years before she captured her first Pokemon. A rampaging monster of a Steelix attacked the heard, and Jasmine managed to cage the beast within a Pokeball in a stroke of luck. Showing her Grandfather, he was proud of her. Soon she captured several other Pokemon and had a full team under her belt. The ten year old was a steel type prodigy, taming the wild creatures with a pure heart. Her Grandfather raised Jasmine well and she learned to train her Pokemon and execute battle plans perfectly. It was a few years later that her guardian learned he had a job offer back in the Johto region. Selling the farm and all of the Pokemon was devastating to young Jaz, having bonded with all of them on one level or another. But a single lone Mareep would not go with the others, and her Grandfather allowed her to keep the tyke. Cuddling the sheep, he was her new best friend as they set back off to her home region. Having grown up in the rough but born in high class society, Jasmine dressed well for a lady before sending out her then-tamed Steelix to massacre the competition in battle. Taking root in the port town of Olivine, Jasmine and her Grandfather were happy there. The young girl had no desire to reconnect with her parents and helped her guardian with the ferry service he and Empoleon managed. After a while, Jaz and Mareep began to get restless. That was when she bid her Grandfather farewell and started off on her journey as a trainer. Jasmine soon earned herself a reputation, steel type Pokemon taking the stage with her beloved Mareep by her side. He never went into his Pokeball and followed her like a lost Growlithe. Finding a place within her heart, Jaz trained him with much more care than her Steelix. But within a few years, he was fully evolved alongside her team. Thrilled with her best friend's achievement, Jaz playfully dubbed him Amphy. They all returned back to Olivine after many years of travel, all much more weary from their journey. Jasmine settled in happily with her old guardian, and Amphy took over the lighthouse when the old thing broke down. Never bothering to fix it, the town heartily accepted him as their savior. A new gym was even opened within the busy town and Jasmine won the title after a brief contest of strength. As she was the Gym Leader and Amphy the lighthouse guardian, Jaz was living the dream. She spent her days with her best friend and took on any challengers. Years passed by and things were stable and calm, Amphy even fathering a generation of children to take care after he was gone. But life was not so kind to the young woman, for when the Epidemic came, it ravened the land. Undead swarmed across her beloved home like the plague, massive infernos devastating the buildings. At one point, most of the survivors were rounded up around the gym, ushered inside while their leader's Steelix bravely defended them. Jaz ran out to the lighthouse for her beloved Amphy, sure she could get him without needing assistance. But the sight that beheld her was one that would haunt her forever. Straight from the depths of Darkrai's night ares itself, was a Tyranitar. But it was no normal Tyranitar. Infection was obvious on the beast and it held an energy unlike any of the other undead. Just as the monster turned its gaze to her, suddenly Amphy was right before her, positioned to defend her. But all the Ampharos could do was be slaughtered by the Tyranitar, the beast even taking care to smash the orb on his tail between immeasurable jaws. Jasmine was changed from that day, something snapping within her. As the people fled the town in search of a safer place, Jaz came by a familiar Pokeball and took a moment to save her Grandfather's Empoleon as she fled with the others. Inside she knew her beloved guardian was dead, too. The group heard of a secret hide out holding the dragon tamer Lance as well as other people of importance, and they headed right there. The group was but a small fraction by the time they made it, Jasmine unable to keep any but a handful of people safe. Given a rank within the secret base due to her status as ex Gym Leader, she took it without complaint. But she was not the same person anymore. Her spirit was broken by the Tyranitar, horrified and shattered. On one scouting party, Jasmine lost the male Togetic of her breeding pair and would not speak a word for an entire month. Raw and grieving, she became a hardened soul. She spent her time training the weak. Keeping herself strong. Hell bent on not getting even with life, but getting revenge. When time passed, though, she grew restless. She picked up more and more feild missions, slipping away from the hirarchy between Lance, Clair, and Steven, as she slowly but surely became more and more focused on revenge-- her latest expidition has taken her to the Ilex forest... |
Appearance | Rugged and unkempt, she is an almost polar opposite to her former self. Her hair that used to be down her back in a thick wave of soft tan, is now about one third it's old length, being just above her shoulders now. Soft tan eyes that were once such a gentle light are now cold and hard, much like the steel types she commands. Expression always hard, there is a tight scowl that can always be counted on piercing through anyone she glances at. Body healthy and lean, the dainty and almost childlike body is now muscled and strong. Working alongside men and powerful Pokemon alike in the new world, she has learned that the weak do not last long and has worked hard to change that. Normally with dirt under her fingernails and smudges on her face, she is truly one to prove not to judge a book by its cover. Almost always having her Steelix, Magneton, Magnezone, or Empoleon by her, there is a truly intimidating factor to the ex Gym Leader. |
Personality | Always the soft spoken and quiet one, now Jasmine has changed. Cold and distant, she avoids people as much as she can. Not in the mood to take any shit from anyone, the short woman is the first to give a tongue lashing to anyone under her who messes up. Or those equal to her, even. Icy cold and straight to the point, she is blunt and truly intimidating despite never raising her voice. Having a huge dislike of large concentrated groups of people as well as flames after the massacre at Olivine, Jaz hides her feelings behind a mask of anger and is quick to snap at anyone who questions her inner feelings. Grieving at the still raw loss of her Togetic and Amphy, she has become almost a recluse on hours she does not have work to do. Hiding out in her room, she depends almost solely on her Pokemon to keep her sane and strong, often breaking down and hugging them close while she sobbing silently in the dead of night. Now a pained and hurting individual, she has no optimism left in her. Staying strong only for Lance and the sake of humanity everywhere, she has no hope that the Epidemic will end and plans to take her life as soon as her usefulness is gone. But overall, no one knows her inner pain besides her Pokemon and she prefers it that way. The ex Gym Leader would rather have a Pokemon's company over any human every time. She holds a special hatred for undead and puts bullets in their heads every time, at every chance. Having cared for Amphy by herself for many years, she has a special place in her heart that only he can fill and losing him was a devastating blow to the young woman. She is firmly against befriending any more Pokemon and is always particularly disgusted with young trainers and new bonds between human and Pokemon. Extremely pained, her mood goes from sour and grumpy to downright vicious whenever her thoughts go to the Ampharos that gave his life to protect her. She will take no bad talking of the situation and will be the first to give a punch in the jaw to anyone who dares do so. Noticeably more violent around the subject of him, she often wonders why he had been taken by the monstrous Tyranitar and not her. Suicide becomes an almost constant thought and Jasmine has almost constant nightmares about the event. The loss of her town and Grandfather was nothing compared to the death of Amphy. |
User Notes | -Is a trainer to the people at the base that remain with their Pokemon. Always making sure no one is soft and takes a lot of pride in keeping the fortress' trainers fit and nimble. -Despises the nickname Jaz -Grandfather is dead but still has his Empoleon. -The death of her Amphy broke her, in a way, and finds it near impossible to bond with anyone new, especially after losing her Togetic. -Curses like a sailor nowadays. -Really antisocial and hates people in general. -Will bring out Amphy's pokeball when she becomes very upset, very rarely in front of other people. -Spends a lot of free time making knives and bullets with her Magnezone's Magnet Bomb. Has quite a collection by now. She will not share without exception. |
