Viridian Forest | Afternoon | 15
The toothy grin that was plastered on Brimstone's face never left his maw as he continued to slash away at the droves of Infected in the building. Everything around him had been little more than a blur. He hadn't even noticed the arrival of the strange arachnid-like creature, and he assumed the scream was little more than a death cry from one of the infected bugs as it was smashed into the ground beneath his claws. A brief blast of fire charred the blood on his talons, and it flaked off like blacked snow as he whirled around just in time to swat a beedrill from the air.
He was in his element. It was only until the heaviest part of the hoard had been decimated -- which was partially thanks to the precise and rapid blade-action of the scyther -- that he realized Skoll had vanished from the battle field.
The charizard snorted, and a puff of smoke escaped his flared nostrils. "Bah. He's missing the fun." Even so, the mindless attacks of the undead creatures were tedious even if they were manageable. They operated on instinct; sloppy blows and strikes fueled by bloodlust were easily countered, though the heavy breaths that escaped Brimstone's throat as fiery drool dripped from his open jaws showed that age had taken a toll on the brutish male's stamina. His lame leg wasn't helping matters either, as it was shaking badly as he relied on it more and more to hold his weight.
As much as he hated to admit it, he couldn't fight forever. There were many mauled and mangled bodies littering the floor, but it wasn't all of them. He could still hear the skittering of many legs and the moans of the undead.
He had been told not to burn the building, but at this moment, he didn't care. He just wanted to smell the scent of burning, rotten flesh. Besides, it seemed that now he was the only one in the building aside from the dead.
The dragon released a bellowing roar as flames licked at his lips. He extended his wings, only dimly aware of the fresh tears that burned in the already shredded membrane, and let the waves of flame escape his jaws.
How fitting that the humans referred to the technique as Incinerate.
