History | Born in the wild, Gale’s Arcanine parents lived in a small area alongside a pride of Luxray. Although the land was sparse, prey particularly hard to locate even in the most fruitful months, the canines lived peacefully alongside the feline community. They were not considered a threat to their way of living, thus were permitted to share the poverty-stricken land surrounding them. Gale’s childhood was cut tragically short as the arrival of three siblings pushed him into a position of responsibility. Abandoning the playful antics of youth, the young Growlithe began training as he and his father took it upon themselves to provide for the growing family. Spending the majority of his existence hunting alongside his proud but aging parent, Gale was a fast-learner and was proving himself a particularly quick-footed battler. He had a natural skill, his navigation abilities second to none as he continued to strengthen over the years. The close-knit family took a crippling blow at the death of Gale's father. Following a hunting trip beyond their usual jurisdiction, the canine pair were set upon by poachers looking to earn money off an Arcanine skin. Despite his valiant attempts at fending the humans off, a shot to the head ensured that his father was beyond saving. Gale left heartbroken as he returned to bestow the shocking news upon his fragile family. However, there was little time to mourn. Taking it upon himself to supply for his family, intent on filling his father’s pawprints, Gale slipped into the identity of the breadwinner. His mother struggled to care for her rambunctious pups, his siblings, and lacked the energy and ability to provide food as well. Gale was undaunted by the task, training hard to ensure his strength never faltered. As the years passed, Gale never broke his promise. He grew into an amiable, if a little aloof, young man intent on keeping his family safe and healthy. But as times grew harsh, he found his favoured hunting grounds had become occupied by a female Luxray. He’d never been one to socialize with the neighbouring pride of felines, so was admittedly disliking of the stranger with the nerve to invade his territory – but with conversation, the duo were revealed to be kindred spirits. Katniss was like him, intent on seeing her family through the worst of life. Striking up a solid friendship with the headstrong lion, Gale’s loyalty was immovable. It took her sudden disappearance for him to realize he’d fallen helplessly in love. One day, Katniss simply didn’t show up to hunt. Gale, both concerned and annoyed at having been stood up, approached her pride in search of answers. He found the group far amiable than he’d always thought, but the news that she’d been captured by a human was devastating to the Growlithe. Furious that humans had effectively stolen away another of his life’s pleasures, Gale worked hard to provide for Katniss’ struggling family as well as his own – unwilling to let the memory of Katniss die with the mother and sister she’d left behind. Gale ran himself ragged in the weeks that followed. His energy sapped from the never-ending hunt for food that were simply too elusive to his keen senses, the canine was adamant in his decisions to assist his surrogate, feline family. He’d grown close to Prim and her mother, consoling them as they grieved over Katniss’ disappearance whenever he dropped off food for them and their pride. The community was slowly starving in these harsh times, bodies dropping like flies as Gale was finally forced out of familiar territory. Driven to extreme lengths, the fire-type took to the nearby cities – hunting Rattata and scavenging from the human bins so that he would not return empty-handed. However, on one such trip, a strange electric box caught his attention. Peering through a window at the human television, the Growlithe was stunned to see images of Katniss battling flashing before his eyes. She was alive! ‘The Games: Live from Orre’. Returning to the pride with a rarely plentiful collection of prey, Gale was more animated at the news of Katniss. Whilst he knew his loyalties laid with providing for the community, both Katniss’ and his own family began urging him to bring the feline home. Not realizing that his love for her had been so obvious, Gale reluctantly agreed and soon began training a collection of Luxray to hunt. Passing on his skills to the most able individuals in the community, unwilling to risk the group starving in his absence, the Growlithe eventually set off for Orre. Unfortunately, he only got so far. Captured by a human on his travels, Gale was savage in his attempts at escaping the man’s clutches. Vicious, untameable in his pursuit for freedom, the Growlithe’s human was a rival to his own stubbornness, resilient as he thrust the youth into vigorous training. However, with rumours of the epidemic beginning to spread, the human was drafted into the military, accompanied by Gale. Evolved with the use of a fire stone, the Arcanine was often considered more trouble than he was worth. Constantly rebelling against orders and taking every opportunity to light the building on fire, the canine’s thoughts were consumed by Katniss and their families. Knowing his imprisonment to the army was only wasting time that could go towards the survival of his loved ones, Gale’s spirit was impossible to break. No matter how many beatings he received – knocked unconscious for his escalating crimes against the system – the Arcanine was beyond control. Raw emotion singled him out as a rebel, a fighter, as he was eventually dumped in the wilds at the mercy of the undead. The humans had lost their fight to break him, one of Gale’s relatively rare successes. His level hiked since his brutal training for military purposes, Gale was unfazed by the creatures of the epidemic as he set his sights on returning home. Slaughtering anyone foolish enough to cross his path, the Arcanine was distraught to find the community he’d grown to love reduced to a bloodbath. No one was spared. He saw Katniss’ family, his mother and his precious siblings, all dead. Furious that he hadn’t been there to protect them, to prevent the horror, Gale has since stalked the land hell-bent on wreaking bloody revenge. |
Appearance | "Arcanine is a quadruped, canine Pokémon with an orange pelt marked by jagged black stripes. It has diamond-shaped ears with beige insides, black eyes, a round, black nose, and two pointed teeth protruding from its upper jaw. Its head, muzzle, and chest are covered in shaggy, beige fur, except for two oval sections around each eye and ear. Long tufts of fur grow behind its elbows and around its ankles. Its underside is black, and it has a billowing, beige tail that is bent in the middle. Each paw has three toes and a round, pink pad." A prime example of the Arcanine species, Gale is larger than average and boasting a handsome, muscular build. Whilst his colouration remains typical to his kind, the canine’s fur is in surprisingly good condition although often dirtied and thick with dust from his travels. With very little regard for his looks, the best means of describing Gale is rugged. Whilst attractive, he embraces nature and does not work to achieve a typically ‘handsome’ appearance, cleanliness and vanity particularly irrelevant in his mind. Gale’s eyes are a deep, dark brown colour, borderline black. |
Personality | -Brave -Battle-Ready, Physically Strong -Protective – Big Brother Type -Willing to Assist -Good Sense of Humour -Usually Easy-Going -Blunt – Can be Insensitive -Stubborn -Rebellious, Free-Spirited -Will Not Follows Orders -Bad Tempered -Impulsive, Reckless -Emotions Dictate Actions -Unrequited Love for Katniss the Luxray -Vengeful |
User Notes | - Believes Katniss to be dead. - Gale has little to no knowledge of The Games or the fact the organizers were behind the deaths of the community he’d grown up in. However, if he ever discovers, it is unlikely he will show any shred of mercy. -Loosely based off Gale Hawthorne from 'The Hunger Games' Series. -Adopted from Snitch, original profile here. |

History | Being born as an egg and hatched to a competitive battling trainer is never the right way to start off life-- the small Charmander kicked open his shell under the pair of eyes from a young man and a large bird Pokemon. His expression immediately became sour, seeing the shy attitude of the child. Donating the Charmander to a nearby Pokemon Professor, the Fire Type waited his turn to be chosen as a rookie's partner. A young girl came when he was only a few months old, interested in the thought of a legendary Charizard. But throwing him into a fight immediately after, she soon learned he was not a killing machine; the unnamed Pokemon sobbed in pain after being scratched by a wild Fletchling. Returned that same day, the Kanto 'mon learned his first taste of being abandoned. His soft nature and gentle spirit were not for the rigorous fighting trainers went through. The cycle repeated itself a for a third time before the Chamander learned love. The Pokemon Professor had no problem taking care of the starters before handing them out, but being returned a third time, after being donated nonetheless... he almost considered just releasing the poor thing. The girl that walked in the doors that morning was not inexperienced, having a Gogoat and a Meowstic following her endearingly. The professor warned her about the Charmander's past up front, advising to choose either of the other two, but soon as he spoke of the Charmander losing so many homes, she took his Pokeball without hesitation. Walking out of the building, she held the lizard in her arms and spoke to him. The 'mon was confused... no one had ever shown interest in him. The professor had cared for him, but he had always just been distasteful to those around him. The girl dubbed him Alduin, looking into the Charmander's eyes and smiling. Alduin felt his heart pound from anxiety... wouldn't this human just dump him like the rest? He couldn't survive in the wilds, the Charmander was frightened and unsure. But as time passed, days became weeks, and Alduin found his heart opening up. The woman had been on the road for a few years in Kalos and knew her way around the region, content to raise her Pokemon at their own pace. As Alduin slowly opened up to her, he even started to want to battle for her. Finding some weak wild Pokemon, for the first time in his life the Charmander won a battle, using his new Dragon Claw technique on a wile Furfrou. Overjoyed, he let himself completely go, and found himself loving his trainer like he had never before. She was more than just someone to raise him... she was his first real friend. A few years passed and he did little battling in that time, but that wasn't a problem for her. However, one day Alduin was horrified to witness his Trainer collapse to the floor, unconscious. Fortunately it was in a PokeCentre, but the news was grim. After tests wee done, Alduin waited with the rest of her team only to learn she had an inoperable brain tumor. Devastated, the Charmander could do nothing but lay by her side in the hospital bed, her Meowstic on the other as the team loyally watched over their trainer. It felt like years to Alduin, but in only a few days of being in a coma, did their trainer pass away. As protocol, her family was contacted and sent to pick up her Pokemon, however Alduin did not want to live with her parents. Or any human for that matter. He fled, grief and loss making him not think clearly. The Charmander found himself on the edge of the region, by the ocean, and resided himself to start a new life somewhere else. Sneaking his way onto the boat, little did he know that the infection had already begun by then. Their boat was lucky-- no undead found them on their voyage, but upon hitting the mainland of Hoenn, packs of Linoone and Mightyena swarmed the foreigners. Screams pierced the air as Alduin found himself midst a massacre. Dodging undead and hiding behind bodies, he was able to get out of range before he was found. However now he had a new problem...he was alone, and in a place he'd never seen before. It was hard to survive for the young Pokemon, but he managed to hide out in abandoned buildings and avoided most undead contact either by running or hiding. It was after some time had passed that Alduin was in a bad spot-- chased and cornered by a pack of undead, he ran into the nearest escape he could find: the entrance to Meteor Falls. Running and running, Alduin never stopped running through the damp cave, terrified he would be caught. It was only after time passed and he fell over from exhaustion that the fire starter realised the worst news yet: he was hopelessly lost. |
Appearance | "Charmander is a bipedal, reptilian Pokémon with an orange body, though its underside and soles are cream-colored. It has two small fangs visible in its upper and lower jaws and blue eyes. Its arms and legs are short with four fingers and three clawed toes. A fire burns at the tip of this Pokémon’s slender tail, and has blazed there since Charmander’s birth. The flame can be used as an indication of Charmander's health and mood, burning brightly when the Pokémon is strong, weakly when it is exhausted, wavering when it is happy, and blazing when it is enraged. It is said that Charmander dies if its flame goes out." Alduin has the appearance of a normal Charmander in every way. His skin is smooth, tail flame healthy, and sports a pair of baby blue eyes. His mannerisms are the true oddities about the Fire Starter, often crouching or ducking his head in submission, fear and unease clear in his young eyes. |
Personality | Pros: Passive, diplomatic, kind, protective, gentle, supportive Cons: Insecure, skiddish, shy, anxious, naive, lonely, short tempered Neutral: Soft spoken -Alduin tends to be suspicious when first meeting strangers, but at the same time he is naive enough to trust them even after only a few short words. He will tend to cling almost unhealthily close to anyone he believes will protect him. -Alduin is not completely helpless, he does know how to use his claws and fight if need be, he just does not enjoy it at all. At his low level, it is not like he could do much damage anyway, but he is not a pacifist, just does not enjoy it. -Likewise, he might not like to fight, but he will fiercely protect those he considers close, whether it be an undead or from verbal abuse, he finds it hard to stand down and not say something for his special person. -Alduin does have very bad abandonment issues, as well as separation anxiety to those he clings to. Currently he has no one else in his life, but before she passed, his trainer was his lifeline, now he is alone again. -Contradictory to his normally passive nature, he has a vicious temper when provoked. It is normally difficult to anger him, but when pushed far enough he attacks with claws and teeth. Due to no battle training, he tends to just go with primal urges and fight physically. -He is needy. When he is close to someone he needs to always be near, touching in any way, commonly involving him curled up and pressed close to them, nudging with his nose til he gets a pet on the head, as well as just laying on their feet. When scolded for being like this, he will be extremely ashamed and go hide away out of sight. -Likewise, to those he does not like or trust, he will not under any circumstance let them touch him, unless he attacks them in a battle. He finds disgust at being even so much as brushed by someone he despises. |
User Notes | -Based off of my own Mega Zard X (that totes replaced my stater aha) and named after the dragon Alduin from Skyrim Elder Scrolls -Father was a Garchomp, giving him the bred moves. Dragon Claw was a gift from his trainer. |
