The city was on fire. The city that she last saw her trainer alive was on fire. Buildings were crumbling in the distance, and Dahlia could hear screams and howls from deep within it.
She shivered in sadness as she watched the blaze tear through the tiny homes. Despite her small shelter in an outcropping of rocks, she still felt vulnerable. She was bleeding profusely from bulletholes in her fins, and had left a blood trail in the water, as she tried to make her way here.
The wounds that hadn't touched the water were clotted with dry blood...and had clumped enough to stop the bleeding. But the blood that was in the water had attracted many of the undead water pokemon to her...but managed to escape them by diving into dark parts of the shallows, where they couldn't follow.
She began to weep weakly as she thought back to what happened in the last 24 hours...the whizzing bullets, the terrifying screams of all the pokemon around her, blood staining the ground...waking up to piles of shredded corpses around her...looking with dread for the body of Maynard among all the corpses, but finding nothing...
Maynard...
Dahlia squeezed her eyes shut as she thought of her trainer.
Maybe...maybe he came back here...maybe he is looking for me...
She lifted her head back up to gaze at the falling city.
He wouldn't go in there...he would look for me on the shores...
Her thoughts were pierced with the resurfacing pain of her wounds. She let out a short cry as the salt of the ocean stung her wounds.
She slowly dragged her heavy body onto a small shoal nearby. The tall jagged rocks nearby would help disguise her, as her shell helped her blend in with her surroundings.
The beautiful cyan pendant hanging around her neck glowed cheerfully, oblivious to the pain and suffering of its' owner.
Maybe...tomorrow...will be better...
Exhausted both emotionally and physically, she lowered her head, covering her mystic water with the bulk of her neck, and quickly fell into the abyss of slumber.
