Infection = Status Ailment? Empty Infection = Status Ailment?

I was wondering, does/can the "Infected" status mean the same thing as a status ailment?

What I mean is, like, if a Pokémon is Infected, does it have the same effects as a status ailment such as Paralysis, Poison, Frozen, et cetera? And also, would they be applicable to the double-effect of some moves such as Hex, which does twice the amount of damage if the target is affected with a status ailment?

I just wasn't quite sure and thought I'd ask. ovo

I'm not really sure... Status ailments are rather different from diseases and viruses, which is what the virus is. I suppose it could be seen as one, but I don't think it would apply as a normal status ailment.

Besides, if a pokemon used Hex on an infected, it really wouldn't feel the pain, so the entire point would be mox nix XD

I honestly think of the virus as something similar to Pokerus [Nurse Joy did say that the Pokerus was a virus in the game], so it would be considered as a separate status I presume. So no double damage there if using Hex.

Adding onto this thread, is it possible to have Pokerus in here? If so, does it give immunity to the Epidemic [For a certain amount of time]?
