History | - .:
Before he was born, his mother was the alpha to one of the stronger Eeveelution packs that there was. Rei's mother, Aya, was alpha until his father, Tsume, took over, claiming Aya as a reluctant mate after he brutally beat her and raped her. From that incident, Rei and his brothers Shizu and Akira and two females came to be. The little girls didn't survive past a few minutes; Tsume killed them by his own paws because he hated females, and he thought they were weak and useless.
Their mother loved them a lot, she thought they were her world despite that they came from their father. Their father seemed to feel nothing but disappointment, annoyance and anger for them. But as they grew older, he took a liking to Rei, because he was larger and heftier than his two other siblings. Tsume decided to raise Rei in his own image; a merciless, powerful leader. Before then, though, Rei used to spend the best times of his young life with his brothers. As Rei was taken on, his father gave him and his siblings tests of adulthood. The middle child, Shizu, was beaten a lot because he failed what his father told him to do. Rei defended Shizu a lot of the time, and being Tsume's first and best son, and the fact Rei was so strong, he backed off. Shizu was usually grateful, and Rei felt a major purpose.
As days grew to months, Tsume pushed Rei to his limits, who - along with his brothers - was still just an Eevee, often to times where he couldn't do things completely correct which made Tsume angry. His father started to doubt Rei, beating him verbally and physically to make him get the point. Not getting little praise from the start, Rei decided that he just wasn't being good enough. The fighting his parents did only fueled more of his guilt, as Aya usually defended Rei. Akira, the youngest, developed spite for him, making him feel like he failed him somehow. It's where his real troubles began.
About the time when Rei was an early teen, Tsume was just about done with his mother and Shizu. In a livid fit, he started getting aggressive with Shizu. Rei, being too afraid of his father, did nothing to defend Shizu out of fear of being beaten himself, since the beatings since he was younger had gone from pinning to now, maiming. His mother stepped in to defend Shizu, and Tsume ended up brutally killing her. Rei's heart sunk from the loss of his mother, his guilt anchoring itself in the back of his head as it started to feed on him. Tsume publicly discluded Shizu from the pack, leaving him to die with his mother's corpse. Rei felt torn, afraid of being abused harder by his father or staying with his brother. He ran to Shizu and tried to stay and refused to leave, but his father wouldn't let him stay, beating him until unconscious then dragging him away by the scruff.
Rei, being with only an angry, disappointed father and brother, let the abuse immensely attacked his psyche. All of his problems developed to the point of where he didn't know how to feel anymore. His father gave up on him, not caring anymore how he grew up, only using him as a punching bag. But one day, Rei went off on his own, and was caught by a trainer. He was relieved yet almost saddened at the same time.
Rosco Williams, the trainer who caught him, seemed like a nice guy. He'd pat Rei sometimes and gave him food, as disgusting as Rei thought it was. The large Eevee was pretty content with this new life, thanking Rosco for taking him away to what Rei thought was paradise in comparison to before. One day, Rosco took him to this old man who called himself the "Move Deleter." Rosco named him "Catalyst", as he was the start to something Rosco hadn't told Cat was going to be part of. --- Catalyst felt his legs giving out in panic, being in a tight, small metal cage. With the black blanket over it, he was unable to see anything. The car stopped, and the cage was picked up. As the blanket lifted, he saw other pokemon in cramped cages, looking about as scared and sad as he felt. The hint of unity died as he was taken out of his cage and picked up by Rosco. He was carried out into a small room, the sound of cheering faint outside of the walls. The only thing in the room was a large door. They placed him down and started hitting him, trying to aggravate him. All Catalyst felt was fear, and he lashed back when he could. These humans weren't his father. They were stronger and smarter than he was. They seemed pleased, stopping their torment and ushering him out the door.
He was blinded as he ran out into the ring to get away, and the crowd around the metal, Roman-fashioned colosseum in some abandoned building. It looked like a tackier version of a battle stadium, except a bit smaller. His feet stopped, his body paralyzed in fear and dread made his muscles ache. There was an announcer with a microphone just beyond the side line, the voice ringing off the fiberglass and shabby metal that served as boundaries. Catalyst didn't catch much through his absolute terror, except that he had to fight to the death. At the other side, there was a large, menacing looking Houndoom, battle scarred and strong looking. He heard of battles before, but now that he was in one, he was floored.
The Houndoom charged and threw intimidating words, attacking Cat and throwing the dark-grey Eevee back against the wall, damaging him pretty bad. The Eevee staggered and got up, flailing and dodging a lot more than landing feeble attacks on the monster Houndoom. He got lucky, managing to even the HP between them. In a last ditch effort, the Houndoom struggles to pin the small Eevee on the ground, and digs it's teeth into his throat. Catalyst couldn't even gasp, it was stolen by the Houndooms fangs. His muscles involuntarily convulsed, his eyes pouring tears. His heart fluttered, then finally stopped. The only real thought that passed through his mind was that he had failed Rosco. The one who picked him up when he was low.
The Houndoom howled, the crowd roaring with one discontent voice damning the Eevee. The announcer declared the Houndoom the winner, but then stopped. Black, thick fog started to cover the Eevee's corpse, then there was suddenly a white flash. The fog covered the entire place, an ebony body which was almost invisible through the smog stood up. He has been brought back. Suddenly, the fog dispelled, the dust barely stirring around the newly evolved Phanteon. Without warning, Catalyst lunged, a feral roar ringing through the entire colosseum. He begun slamming the Houndoom with his new, enormous paws. His large claws hooked flesh, ripping the Houndoom to shreds. An almost unrecognizable hunk of flesh fell, spraying blood all over. As Catalyst's indescribable rage wore off, he realized what he had done. It was the first one he killed, and he labeled himself "Murderer."
From then on, he participated in countless battles that he won, every time his paws bloodied, since only physical assaults and one move was allowed. He was blinded with TM's, told to use them differently every match. It was too much for the poor Eeveelution, but he had to do it to live. Every time he physically protested, Rosco locked him in the dusty, moldy closet in his cage. Rosco threatened to kill him if he didn't participate. And eventually, as it came time to battle, they would manage to get him so blindly enraged he couldn't say otherwise. So he continued to rip faces off, slice arteries and veins, maul limbs and chests. He pretended to become enraged when they tempted him, keeping up a false image of brutality and sadism, at first. But then it became involuntary, it became him. It was pointless, misdirected rage. When he tried remember his past self, he couldn't. He was changed, and the damage was irrepairable. One day, Rosco had been careless, leaving the door open. Catalyst had just then learned to meld through objects, and he managed to slip out of his cage and remained undetected. Any time in the past, his guilt wouldn't allow him to even think of doing such a thing but now, he considered himself evil - it didn't matter to him anymore. He bolted, Rosco running after him, shouting all sorts of hurtful insults. The guilt and fear made him ache, and he finally slipped away. He leaped into the river that was on the side of the town he ran away from, swimming quickly, finally feeling free, and he ran until his legs couldn't carry him anymore. but he collapsed, feeling more free than he had ever felt in his life. He felt like he was his own creature for one moment in his life. He wandered, too scared to interact with anyone and dreadfully alone.

Appearance | - .:
Cat is a strong, fit looking, young adult. His body is compact but has good form and shape, his body similar to a dogs more than a feline or fox. He has large paws with large, black retracted claws like a cats. His paws are more big-cat-like, and his shoulders and hindquarters are large and muscular. His face is like a big dog's, long but thick. His nose fits to his thick muzzle. His eyes are bright and vibrant blue, and they're his feature that stands out most as well as the most expressive. His fur seems more smoky and hair-like, but still slightly see-through. His pelt is mildly healthy looking and thick, but some spots seem uneven or bumpy because of scars hidden under his hair. His fur (the darker fur, it's not hair like his body is) for his ears, tail, pawfluff and mane is puffy and feels almost like wool, but it behaves like it's airier. His hair tuft on his head is wavy and unkempt from lack of trimming, and hangs almost like bangs in front of his face. His ears are usually perked slighty up, but flatten back when he's upset.
|
Personality | - .:
Positives: He is usually cheery and happy, very normal when he's not being tormented by his own self. He likes to think of his past happiness more than the bad. He likes to see the beauty in things, and looking at nature reminds him of simpler times when he and his brothers used to play; before the real family downfall. He usually is polite and thoughtful, and he likes to speak his opinions when they're not unbiased or contradictory to anyone else's, he hates conflicting ideas because it causes trouble for him. He's very happy with others when he feels like he fits in, and he hates being absent for things. He's not very friendly towards being mocked because of his past mostly, but he may sometimes mock others. If he doesn't realize he's being biased, he won't feel guilty, but may later on if he considers it. He also may feel like an outcast, even among friends who love him. His self-image gets the better of him on it. He may crack an occasional joke, getting a laugh out of himself. He enjoys jokes, and likes to usually tell really corny jokes and pokes a bit of fun at others, which is usually the jokes he regrets. However, if he's made fun of, he may start to feel upset with himself, not so much at the person who told the joke. He likes to believe he's decent or well at cheering people up when they're sad. And he likes to cheer people up when they're sad. Cat is relatively quiet, and shy to meet new Pokemon. He doesn't usually talk to many, unless he trusts them at least a little bit. His quietness makes others lead to poking him for information, which he is used to. He's analytical, determining others personalities a bit before speaking to them easier. He's very sensitive towards others pain, especially his best friends. He's sympathetic to even those who mistreat him, but he doesn't open up so much to them. He feels he can't be happy if there's another person that's sad. He also tends to get easily insulted at times because he doesn't know how to take a joke, which he gets upset over too. He's physically tolerant to pain to an extent, he deals with long lasting emotional pains than quick physical pains. He doesn't like to be hit at any time because it sends him into a downward spiral of remembrance. Catty has an odd sense of hope, which sometimes he thrashes himself over. He manages to stay hopeful even through his hurt or no matter how bleak the situation is or if it's a bit unrealistic. He doesn't like to think if things got worse because deep down, he feels like it's bad enough. He gives all he has and helps whenever he can and gets work done as quick a possible. He will give anything he has to anyone in need, especially to those who are in danger. He self-sacrifices and usually ends up hurt if there's possible danger. He loves the smell of pines, wet/dry/cut grass, roses/jasmine, water, and wet/dry/tilled soil, and burning wood. He also likes shiny stuff. He likes to swim, because it reminds him of the day he escaped.
Negatives: Most of his conscious and self-image comes from his father, most of his self-hate are from how he's murdered others. He sees himself as a monster and he thinks mostly all he does is hurt and damage others as well as himself. He sometimes finds himself intolerable, socially awkward and is anti-social because he's afraid of meeting others because he thinks they'll see him the way he sees himself. He thinks he is is a unjustified victim, and he's too stubborn to pull himself up out of his hurt and man up like his father used to demand of him, and he feels that his pain isn't real enough to express. He feels as if his hurt is unjustified, and that everyone had it so much worse than him, and he does not understand why he hurts; he feels weak because of it. He also internally calls himself a killer because of all the other Pokemon he's had to kill to survive. At times, he hears his fathers voice, telling him not to do things or say things or feel ways he shouldn't, like a conscience. His father had an incredibly tight leash on him, and since he's broken free of it, he's felt lost. He doesn't want anyone to feel the pain he does, so he's super cautious about everything he does or says, when he is hyper aware of his actions. He also hates his body and the way he looks, he thinks he's a freak because of his ghost typing and why he died and came back. He is only sad when it's provoked, however. He seems to be casual about his conscience he's developed, but he breaks down if his thoughts race too much. He has major guilt problems, saying sorry for nearly everything even if it's minor. He feels as if most things that involve him at all happens is his fault, even if it sometimes doesn't make logical sense. Whenever someone brings up the fact that it's illogical or ridiculous, he goes into a panic and denial and refuses it to be true. He usually internally feels this guilt, rarely voicing it, but he'll complain of feeling physically weak. He was his father's favorite, and his siblings hated him for it. But being the pick of his abusive father, he was pushed harder and harder to be the best. He was beaten and chastised if he messed up, and got no praise for getting it right, as it was expected of him to do things correctly. So he submitted to everything his father said. Whenever he was wrong, his father would shove his nose into it further than necessary. He thinks he's overly sensitive, unable to do things right even if he tries his hardest to do them. He sees himself as a major slacker, and will do anything to help anyone even at his own major inconvenience. He still feels guilty over his convoluted idea that he failed Rosco. He also carries guilt and PTSD from the fights he's been in and killing other Pokemon just because it was expected of him and his own life was at risk - which makes him feel selfish. He never blames anyone for any sadness or guilt he feels. Even if it's obvious that it's the other person's fault, he feels to only blame himself. Being extremely and wrongly abused from a young age, most of what goes on, he's blamed for. When his father kicked out his brother, he was badly disheartened and felt it was his fault and no one was there to tell him otherwise, so his guilt only grew. Rosco never said sorry, and he had a couple of good times which Cat always points out to himself or others when he's brought up, as defense. His father is never mentioned, but he never usually blames him on the inside. He denies that his father and Rosco are the reason he feels this pain. He sees his father in himself, which is his ultimate fear. The last thing he wants is to hurt others, which fuels his guilt whenever he makes someone upset. He prefers to be alone, even though he yearns to socialize on some level. Certain smells and images will send him into panic attacks just as much as a voice or reprimand, the most intense being caused by the scent of blood. He tries to act tough, like a winner, and intelligent out of fear that he will fail, but most of the time he can rarely keep the facade. He's afraid of going blind, so he's careful of his eyes. He refuses to cry if he can help it. Since he's been in the fights, looking at his large paws while his claws are out makes him panic because memories of killing others with his paws is still large him his mind. He's afraid to fail and end up as all the things he's messed up on. He's afraid of failing like his father, but he denies that too, saying his father wasn't a failure, but a smart leader, and just a bit misguided. He also feels like a failure because Rosco was never truly proud of him when he won. He adapted to lying about things. He was disgusted when he realized he had a habit for it, and tries not to lie. He hates making excuses, but makes them all the time.
Basically he has no idea what real love or kindness is and he needs to work through and realize that this is 99% Rosco's and his father's fault.

User Notes | •Tags for Character: #Catalyst #CatalystRP #CatalystArt •He's Plague's older brother, along with Ghost, who is the youngest. •Much larger and stronger than a regular Phanteon, due to genetics. •He was named "Catalyst" because he was the start of Rosco's illegal battling career, hence a symbolic name. He sticks with it because it matches his entire life, to him. •His other conscience isn't MPD or schizophrenia, it's caused by immense guilt. It's the voice of his father, because his reprimand stuck with him. •He's an OC specifically based off of a more intensified version my own abuse and depression. So I tried to write his psychology as such, but it may seem a little much to take in. I've since become better with my emotions, but I feel like Catalyst should too. It's a healing process. •His breed move was gotten from Tsume, his father. •Voice example is Jude Mathis from Tales of Xillia 1 and 2, voiced by Sam Riegel. (The guy with the black hair and the white overcoat.) AND here's this quote too which kinda fits and I found amusing in context. Another clip Another clip |

History | - .:
He was born into the wilderness of Kanto, to a pack of mixed but strong canid Pokemon. His Arcanine father, Zephyr, was the pack leader, and his Manectric mother named Juleste was his beloved mate. From the time he was young, the rest of the pack respected him as a superior, even for as small as he was - they respected his father in such a manner and treated his son like such. He was loved by all of the pack as their leader-to-be, and they often would take care of him and give him small bits of their wisdom. Zephyr was one of the packs favorite leaders. Among the Pokemon who were considered his family regardless of blood, Zephyr's second in command - Medius - was the Electrike's battle mentor.
As the Electrike grew up, life was pretty kind to him. Things were pretty peachy, with most of the pack proud of him and his ability to learn and accept wisdom. Things only started going wry once the young prince was almost to pubescence. For a bit, his father seemed to be getting rapidly ill. To the point of losing his mind. Often, he would wake to find Zypher unleashing his brutality on Juleste. Being small by comparison, she was no match for him as he held her down and physically abused her, verbally abused her and threatened to kill her. For the sake of her child and the rest of the pack, she stayed quiet about the recent development of his violence. After he was convinced to leave her alone, she would cry to herself. More often than not, Shock was around and would come to comfort her. As this went on, she herself quickly descended into sickness.
It was one afternoon at a pack gathering where the incident happened. Zephyr was in quite a normal and temperate mood when he led Juleste to the side and away from the group. Shock, curious and questioning, followed them without a second thought to the idea something may be wrong. As he walked up, his parents angry yelling turned into violent yelping as Zephyr attacked. He appeared just as his jaws easily crushed her neck, blood pouring onto the ground. She almost immediately died, in her last moment she looked at her son and grunted at him to run. In horror, the puppy screamed out for his mother and Zephyr almost immediately went after him. He caught him under his paws, stepping on him in increments and relishing his gasps of asphyxiation. Just as the big dog was ready to crush his ribs in, the pack's warriors had come the pup's aid and managed to tackle the royal dog to the ground. He bellowed screams of protest as the others sunk their claws and teeth in to neutralize him. Medius swept him up from the ground as he barely regained his consciousness, running with him scruff-in-mouth. Medius's mate met up with them, and the pair ran away with their surrogate son. Unbeknownst to all three of them, Zephyr managed to kill the warriors, and afterwards mercilessly went after the rest of the pack and slaughtered them effortlessly. The inflicted wounds were not in vain, for as the Arcanine finally crawled off after his murdering spree, he bled out his life with his last few heartbeats.
When the only three survivors were far enough away, they relaxed - the sounds of the pup's crying bringing them to slow down. After an hours time of recovery, Shock cried his last musterable tears in his present trauma. Soon they would have a new life away from anything remnant of their previous lives. For the next few months, the family lived as strays in Celadon city and lived off of the kindness of strangers. As any strays hoped, they were taken in by humans - the two dog evolutions had lived with humans before they lived with Zephyr's pack. Medius was a Houndoom, Aelis was a Ninetales. They easily settled into their new lifestyle, and Shock had a somewhat rough time adjusting to the life of being parented by humans. After time, he did eventually begin to like it. His human, a young man named Axel, worked at a Pokemon Daycare and would often bring him to socialize. To identify his Electrike - who he had bestowed the name Shock - he got him a nice orange collar decorated by an Everstone. Unfortunately for the pup, most of his peers didn't take kindly to him. He was often bullied and ridiculed for his lack of social correctness and his quirks and eventually it led him to gain a hardened exterior. Soon, the bullying didn't phase him emotionally and he remained primarily friendless but prefered that way. He did have one friend, Blue the Phanphy. More often than not, Blue would stand up for him. Shock insisted it was okay, but Blue adamantly protected him.
As life went on and he grew up, the infection spread like wildfire. Eventually, there was a time that Axel left the house and then failed to ever return. For as passionately as the family loved their parent, they couldn't wait longer than three days. They left, wandering the streets of Celadon only long enough to avoid the onslaught of undead that was brought into the city. They were suddenly forced to fight off rabid Pokemon, and most every time managing to slip away without injury. One time did come where Medius and Aelis commanded Shock to run as they fought off attackers. As consequence, Shock got separated from them and never happened to see them again. He wanders past the border of Kanto and Johto, slaying any matchable undead he comes by, swearing revenge for Axel, Blue, and both sets of his parents.

Appearance | - .:
His coloring is slightly more vibrant than a common Electrike. He has yellow on the tips of his head-fur, his tail, and his paws are bootied with yellow and followed by a lighter, cucumber-green highlight. His scruff fur is also this green color. The insides of his ears are orange and fluffy, and his eyes are a topaz-colored hue. Their sclera are a soft yellow-orange. His chest has a yellow shape on his chest, from his pectoral chest muscles to slightly under his belly-button. It's shaped like an axe blade.
|
Personality | - .:
Shock is a bit of a goof-ball. (Ok not a bit, he's stupidly silly.) He finds himself humorous, and his humor leads him to look flippant but he is quite adamant. He is incredibly passionate about his parent's deaths and he wishes to avenge them and take down the infection. He is realistic enough to know he can't do that alone or even possibly at all, but it's a secret desire he wished to fulfill some day. So in consequence, he has a rebel mindset and destroys whatever undead crosses his path that is strong enough for him to beat. He's usually laid back, but tends to have PTSD over near-death situations. Due to years of peer abuse, he lacks a lot of self-confidence. Often, he's emotional under certain circumstances such as other in emotional distress but often times when he's feeling strong-willed he will be able to retain his calmness.
