History | Hatched in captivity, Lucius never knew his real parents and spent the majority of his pampered existence in the possession of a wealthy businessman. The young kit had been selected especially for his shiny coloration, reared as a family pet in the lap of luxury. Spoilt rotten throughout his childhood, Lucius was a happy child who quickly became accustomed to life at the very pinnacle of the social ladder – he was born into wealth and had absolutely no intentions of forfeiting such privileges. Unsurprisingly, the Vulpix soon aged into an aristocratic, pompous youth. Whilst he was completely content to be submerged in his social status, Lucius was coaxed to try out battling. Resisting the sport at first, the fire-type soon warmed up to life as a battler when he overcame the fear of marring his white coat. As time passed, Lucius’ training increased. He enjoyed the thrill of battling, the opportunity to exert not only his intelligence but his physical strength over the lowly. The canine became relatively successful in the field though never possessed the stamina to pursue it as a full-time career – it was merely a hobby for the spoilt fox. Gifted a fire stone by his proud humans, Lucius evolved into a striking Ninetales and soon thought battling was erased from his mind. So enamoured with his sleek new form, the fox retired from the battling world young and had found a new source of entertainment in the beggars that would often wander about his home. Both fascinated and disgusted with the lives of those he deemed below him, Lucius began a certain study of the street-rats that inhabited the neighbouring town. Whilst he found no sympathy for their state, he found friendships in unlikely places and soon used his influence to amass a small following of thieves. For Lucius, control of the gang was merely another hobby, a fun past-time. He would suggest they pull themselves out of their squalor and earn a living through theft, bursting into hysterics when one of them were captured with their failure. Cruel perhaps, but Lucius remained in the mindset that the simple-minded youths that idolized the fox were worthy of such treatment. After a little over two years as a part-time, unreliable gang leader, Lucius’ life was giving a newfound spark. The family had purchased a female Delphox with a coat as white as his own, the canine now taking on the new challenge of courting Narcissa. Whilst it had initially been a game to him, a way to make the aloof female squirm, the pair soon found something more in each other. They became romantic, established as mates as Lucius found himself helplessly in love. For the first time in his life, the canine had found someone he cared more about than all his money, his possessions and of course, himself. He urged his gang to find foreign luxuries for his sweetheart, steal from the wealthiest of the wealthy as he remained intent on keeping his beloved happy. Narcissa, although from as equally a pompous background, didn’t expect the gifts but remained flattered regardless. As years passed, Lucius became more and more distanced from his illicit dealings. Narcissa had produced a son, the kit sharing his parents’ unique coloration as the proud father took to family life. A surprisingly doting parent, Lucius had never been happier at his discovery of real love, but things were bound to sour. In the meantime, the fox’s gang had been rapidly expanding to an extent where proceedings had spiralled out of control. In response to such careless behaviour, another group of pokémon had sought power within the town. They were ferocious creatures, merciless in their pursuit of power as they bullied information from Lucius’ colleagues, soon resolving that their erratic leader would need questioning. It took persuasion, but Lucius eventually agreed to settle the sudden drama. Whilst the Ninetales had initially anticipated a brief stand-off, he was severely mistaken. The outsiders attacked, beating him within an inch of his life and insisting that they would be in control now. A coward, Lucius swiftly submitted to their demands, left battered and humiliated in a bid to simply return to his home in one piece, severing all contact with the criminal underbelly of the town. But the fox was clearly out of his depth. The new authority insisted that Lucius was to act a supplier. They had heard of his wealth, seeing an invaluable source of income and a provider completely motivated by fear. Lucius begrudgingly agreed, commencing to steal from his home in the hope that he would eventually escape the domineering gang. Thoroughly out of his depth, Lucius spent the next months living miserably. He became aloof from his concerned mate and child, wrapped up in his attempts to disguise the truth and eventually escape such a predicament. Until then, he did as ordered; sacrificing family heirlooms and countless supplies for the sake of some common thugs. The gang had learnt that Lucius was nothing, and in turn, he was ridiculed, bullied. Social class meant nothing as he found himself increasingly desperate to escape the cycle of torture. His desperation spiralled out of control when the threats turned to his family. Paranoia beginning to consume his mind, Lucius in his insanity, attempted to kill the group’s leader. Failing spectacularly, the Ninetales was spared punishment which was instead passed on to his son. Left beaten, sick with guilt, the fox sprinted to the mansion before confessing everything to Narcissa. She responded with a calm determination, reassuring her unstable partner that nobody would hurt Draco. Clueless to when the gang would retaliate, the family of canines isolated themselves within the grand mansion, retreating into their wealth as they remained intent on shielding the child from the cruel world beyond. Lucius found a small source of optimism, yet couldn’t shake the feeling of dread creeping up his spine. When the gang acted a little over a week later, they were merciless. Nobody knew who had started the fire, but the aged house went up in flames in an instant – each and every member of the family still inside. Lucius was valiant in his attempts to secure the safety of his mate and child, trying to salvage an escape route as the smoke intensified. Within the suffocating darkness, they were separated – the roof collapsing as Lucius was forced out of harm’s way. He emerged outside the wreck, spluttering, alive but alone. He stood there, unable to comprehend that with the building’s collapse, he had lost everything. And there was nobody to blame but himself. His humans and beloved family dead, Lucius fled the area in a state of utter devastation, hysterical as he accepted defeat. The gang had won most spectacularly, leaving the guilt-ridden fox in a state of sorrowful disbelief. The epidemic hit only a few days after the catastrophe, but Lucius paid the swarming undead no mind. He was a shell of a man, hollowed from his guilt, as he aimlessly wandered the region. Several times he attempted to commit suicide, yet found himself too much of a coward to claim even his own life. He persuaded himself he deserved the agony, weighed down by bitter remorse as demons haunted both his days and his nights. His appearance marred, unrecognisable, Lucius’ mental state is the next to begin its final descent. |

Appearance | Lucius is a striking example of a shiny Ninetales, undeniably handsome with a luxurious coat of purest white. The tails, well-groomed, are however tipped with a sooty gray coloration that the canine had long-considered a slight imperfection to his overall allure. As a result of his distaste for the markings, he will subconsciously try to disguise them. Lucius sports a slender frame despite being of average height and weight for the fox-like species. Since the epidemic hit, Lucius has begun to look particularly haggard. His once soft, luxurious fur has become dirtied and thick with grime, left untamed to leave him looking as dishevelled as he feels. Dark circles have flourished around his already coal-like eyes as a result of countless, sleepless nights. |
