History | Vincent was born on the streets of a city in the Hoenn region as the son of a rogue arcanine father and outcast luxray mother. The egg’s arrival hadn’t been anticipated by the parents and neither was prepared to take on the responsibility of raising a cub, both creatures being far too outgoing and immature to accept the guardianship of Vincent. So, shortly after Vincent’s hatching, the mother cruelly abandoned the terrified shinx on the bustling streets of Lilycove. Devastated and confused at his parent’s actions, Vincent desperately tried to find the couple and in doing so ran blindly into a young trainer. The gentleman had recently defeated the city’s gym leader and took pity on the newborn shinx, welcoming Vincent into the powerful team that would soon become the feline’s family. Vincent was always a quiet, shy shinx, constantly awestruck by the strength of his peers but too suppressed by his own self-esteem to aspire to their power. But things gradually improved. As he grew older, the trainer admitted him to the Mauville Daycare to train and used various vitamins to enhance his strength. Each day, Vincent felt better and better about himself and quickly evolved into a luxio. By the time he’d evolved, his trainer’s team had taken down the elite four of Hoenn and in his lust to build up another, equally as powerful team, the trainer invested in recruiting and training up a selection of other pokémon. Vincent, although not particularly strong, had become the trainer’s favourite and remained active for the simple use of companionship. The human never considered Vincent as a fighter and soon invested in a number of other pokemon to train up, including a powerful arcanine named Rowan. Vincent had never really got on with the fire-type, considering him arrogant and pompous but of course, kept his opinions to himself in fear of being burnt alive. The rest of the team consisted of a recently evolved gyarados, a relatively low-levelled gligar, a shiny mawile and a master-rank-winning ninetales traded from the Kanto region. Vincent couldn’t keep his eyes off her. The ninetales’ name was Lily and despite her fame in beauty contests was quite the force to be reckoned with in battle too. The team was constantly and strictly trained up and before long relationships between the arrays of characters had begun to form. The gyarados was temperamental and clashed with Rowan; the shiny mawile and Lily bickered about the definition of beauty; the gligar was bullied due to its rank as the weakest team member and despite Vicent’s attempts to keep the peace, he was fighting a losing battle. Over time, the unpredictable relationship between the group developed into a volatile, but reluctant state of tolerance where rivals would simply avoid one another. Vincent was glad of the peace and in the following months built up a solid relationship with Lily. He had fallen for her the day they’d met, but the newfound truce meant that their conversations would only make him fall deeper into the unrequited romance. He soon evolved, ready to take on the elite four. The day the team defeated the elite four was truly miraculous and as the group celebrated the victory, Vincent’s life was crushed. Rowan and Lily announced themselves as mates and that they had been trying for an egg for the past few weeks. The luxray couldn’t bear the news and sunk into a deep depression, constantly putting on a false smile to avoid admitting the fact he’d been desperately in love with Lily for years. Shortly after the gyarados was sold onto a trainer in Unova, the remaining spot on the trainer’s team was filled by Lily’s egg. Of course, the couple were ecstatic but things were about to change. News of the epidemic had hit Hoenn and the media was urging for the release of pokémon to avoid spread of the virus in the region. Although reluctant at first, the trainer soon realized the seriousness of the epidemic and had all his pokémon shipped to the Kanto region for release. Vincent promised to protect Lily and her egg throughout their time in Kanto, now that Rowan was welcoming of any chance to maximize the safety of both his mate and his child. He knew he was being used, but Vincent’s love for the ninetales burnt strong as ever and would do so until the day he died. Upon arrival, a large group of infected emerged to slaughter a good portion of the pokémon aboard the ship where only a few lucky survivors managed to evade the monsters. Rowan, Lily, Vincent and the egg were part of the fortunate group – but only for a short while. By the end of the week, each and every pokémon transported to the region on the ship had been ruthlessly murdered – all except Vincent, and Lily’s unborn child. Vincent despised himself for not saving Lily. He took a savage beating in that battle; a pack of infected growlithe emerged from the hedges to trigger a complete bloodbath. Within the first ten minutes, the pokémon they’d met in Kanto had been killed, leaving the two males and protective mother to deal with ten, dangerous canines. Of course, Rowan was ruthless. Fire attacks only made him stronger and he disposed of three growlithe in a few short minutes. Vincent put everything into the fight, constantly launching himself in front of Lily when an infected ventured too close, until his coat was caked in blood – mainly his own. As he tired, Rowan was mobbed by the remaining six growlithe, tearing savagely at the arcanine until a pool of blood grew beneath the body. Lily had screeched in fear and abandoning the egg ran to her mate’s aid. Vincent tried to stop her. He screamed for her; lunged to pin her down and drag her away – but he was too late. Her form disappeared beneath the infected – and he’d just stood there and watched. With no other choice but to flee the massacre, Vincent grabbed Lily’s egg before disappearing into the depths of the forest, cleaning himself in a river before breaking down completely. He cried for days. Nothing could numb the pain. Lily’s death alone had been traumatic enough to evoke such emotion, but he despised himself for not acting sooner, for not luring the mob away, for not helping Rowan when he’d had the chance, for not dying with her... He contemplated suicide many times, but just as he prepared to go through with the attempt, one thing stopped him, the egg. Lily and Rowan’s child was still alive and well, and he’d made them a promise. He would protect it. With a deep breath, Vincent picked up the egg, blocked out the memories of the massacre and simply moved on. |

User Notes | - Vincent has mixed feelings about the egg. On one hand, he dreads the pup’s arrival fearing that it will remind him too much of Lily and that he will have to explain the absence of its parents. He’s also had very little experience with children, with no idea how to care or socialize them; so is particularly worried he’ll raise the pup incorrectly or make stupid mistakes that can be life-threatening in this environment. He also hates the fact he’ll one day be caring for Lily’s preference for another man. But then again, he is determined to keep his promise to Lily and see that a part of her will live on and survive to see a better world. - Vincent will become a dual character with the egg after it hatches. I’ll add to the character sheet then :3 - Adopted, original profile. Taken because I had to have the other Vinny LOL |
