History | Brock was the Gym Leader of Pewter City. He had been known as that since he turned 16. Sure, it was a lot of responsibility for someone so young, but because his father was the previous leader and his brother Forrest had no interest in turning Pokemon battling into a serious profession, Brock had taken the job. And he was good at his job, training with his Pokemon most of his nights off and focusing most of his life force into being the best leader of Pewter Gym there could possibly be. In fact it took up so much of his time, he had burnt out on the idea of continuing his reign of glory for much longer after his early mid-twenties, discovering that his path was not being a gym leader. But from being shoehorned in young and having such a reputation, he decided to keep his gym job but long hoped to become a Pokemon breeder or a Pokemon doctor. He even liked to study it in his spare time. In his previous life journeys at around age 17, before he took up a completely full role of gym-leading, he had come to know a much younger trainer with a serious passion for Pokemon -- Ash Ketchum. Finding this boy's love for Pokemon inspiring to his own young - and at the time pretty unrefined and unrealistic dream - of becoming a Pokemon Breeder, he decided to tag along with him in his journey and temporarily abandon his life-long fate of being Pewter's gym leader for a little while. Along the way, Cerulean's gym leader Misty joined up with them on their journey through Kanto. They had all bonded close on their journey, and towards the end after Ash got a chance to move on to travel Johto and become a Pokemon Master. Brock said good-bye to him and Misty for a while, but eventually continued to join up with Ash a few times in different regions to get away from his life of gym-leading. While traveling with Ash and Misty through the years, he had multiple chances to stretch out into his genuine interests of Pokemon Breeding and Doctoring. Between his travels with Ash along with Misty, he would visit her in Cerulean since they were only a city away. All three were close friends. At the time the infection came into existence, Brock had been away on a gym-related trip to Saffron city in the center of Kanto. On his way home, news caught up to him of fainted rumors of impending end. As really a 'sensible' person would, he did not believe in this conspiracy theory being shifted around as it was faint and whispered without fact. But it became more apparent as he hit Cerulean and started to trek into the mountains around Mt. Moon. His first major disturbance was seeing dead Pokemon littering the ground at the entrance of the cave path towards Pewter. Immediately after entering the cave, it seemed like every undead in the vicinity sensed him. Brock was in utter panic after realizing these Pokemon were literally walking corpses. He drew his Pokemon to fight off the encroaching undead for as far as they could before discovering a roadblock. It was like a free-for-all of undead, since the infection was so fresh, it spread through wildfire through the population of Mt. Moon. Everything was becoming insatiably bloodthirsty. Brock fought off Pokemon with his own for what seemed like hours, running through alternate paths and making Onix dig new paths to keep evading Pokemon. In the mix of it all, his Omastar was badly wounded and effectively taken over by the virus minutes after it died. Much to Brock's horror, it started following them to kill them. It was Onix that had to strike it down, and received a deep gash on it's rocky face. but not enough to pierce it's rock hide. By the morning, they had come back into daylight away from the cave, and Brock sneaked out to avoid detection by undead. He had his Kabutops out with him for defense. As they peaked the other side, they saw Pewter in ruins. Brock's devastation only began, and had a bit too long to think it over as he crept by undead to get back home. When he came upon the Gym, it was in complete shambles. Much to his dismay, most of his Pokeballs couldn't be found or were visibly cracked or crushed - effectively rendering them gone. As he came to his house, he was disturbed but relieved to find a lack of dead bodies. There was little salvageable items for weapons except an axe for fire safety and wood chopping, and a pan he could pull from the rubble. The things that were of use and that were in tact, he grabbed. A tear or two was shed at the sudden and indescribable loss, which only made him cling closer to his Pokemon. He built a makeshift living area out of his house and remained there until being driven out of Pewter by sudden hoards of undead Pokemon. |
Appearance | Brock's clothes are slightly snagged and ripped in a few places and the clothes are generally worn down and dirtied. There are a few stains of blood on his shoes and clothing. His orange sweater sleeves are cut up to just below his elbows and he generally wears just his black tank top he wears under his sweater. His face and arms have a few dirt splotches on them and his hair is messy from lack of proper grooming. Generally disheveled and unkempt. |
Personality | Brock jokes around most of the time when things aren't tense but can become dead serious when things require it. Most of the time he's pretty laid back but will not hesitate to be very cautious and firm with others. The epidemic has hardened his sense of friendliness and made him extremely cautious with his Pokemon even though they're hard to infect. He's still scarred from losing his Omastar in Mt. Moon to infected Pokemon and having to kill it himself, and never wants his Pokemon to suffer killing a team mate like that again. He's jaded over the disappearance of his family and it constantly weights on him. As a man who wants to breed and doctor Pokemon, it distresses him greatly to see so many Pokemon in pain or dead, and will go out of his way to help any living Pokemon he happens to see struggling or getting attacked. He still has hope the infection will somehow get better but the though gets more bleak each passing day - so he's beginning to lose hope. |
User Notes | -He can use his frying pan as a drying pan. huehuehuehue -Part of his inspiration to become a Pokemon doctor was seeing Nurse Joy's healing abilities. He used to go to the Pokemon Center some times on his time off to try to get... closer to Nurse Joy. -He was concerned about Ash and Misty (and his other friends that traveled with Ash,) but never heard back from any of them. He assumed them dead. -He often would visit Misty beyond just traveling with Ash, as they were only a city away from each other. |
