History | - HISTORY:
She had been lost by her parents as an egg. She was found by a scientist who belonged to a pokemon lab, one that liked to torture and experiment on pokemon. The woman brought the egg in that she had found while out walking in the woods. She hatched there in the lab, being raised in the nursery with other newly-hatched pokemon. One day, when she was real small, she was awoken by a loud noise even through pretty sound-proof glass. She sat up, looking out the glass window to see Kangaskhan, roaring and screaming. Vortex, almost innocently, didn't know that the red liquid on her was blood. "Where's my baby?!" she shrieked loudly, making Vortex's skin prickle. The thing keened again, breaking loose of her restraints. She smashed against the window, not breaking it but leaving blood. Vortex stood, frozen, almost not knowing exactly what she was seeing... but she was terrified. She watched silently, the others waking up around her and trembling in fear. Vortex flinched as a thick, metal harpoon jabbed through the mothers flesh, making her fall to the ground. They sedated her and drug her way. Vortex's heart sunk a bit, and she didn't cry as the others started to wail. She pondered quietly, trying to understand, but couldn't.
When she was older, she would never hang out around the other pokemon. There were other tiny pokemon, who would come close, but whenever she saw them, all she saw was maliciousness and difference to her. There were no other Charmanders. She pondered for most of her toddler months, wondering if there was more to life than just being around no one who understood her, and no one who was like her, and if there was anyone that wasn't... mean. She decided, she'd break out.
As the others were asleep and the scientist were out of the room, she woke up, sneaking out of the nest she was in, all by herself. Silently, she slipped out of the door, noiselessly managing to navigate the hallways. Suddenly, an open door. She dashed, slipping in and feeling sunlight. This was the other nursery, one near the outside and with windows and doors to the outside. No one was in there, as they were all asleep. This was too easy, she thought, she knew as if someone was watching her.... She looked behind her, the door creaking as a young man stepped in. He yelled at her, demanding her to not move. She defiantly ignored him, instead standing on all fours with her back hunched, growling defensively. Like hell she'd let him touch her and take her back, not when she was so close to being free. When his hand came close, she bit it violently, the taste of blood in her mouth scary and foreign to her. Her body felt tingly, almost hot, and she was enveloped in blinding light. As a newly evolved Charmeleon, she almost lost her wits. She saw her different looks, her huge claws. Afraid, she ran out as quick as she could, actually slamming through the wooden door before the guy could grab her with his good hand. She ran as fast as she could, violently breathing as she hit the end of her run. She tripped and collapsed.
She woke up to a blinding light, finding a royal blue scarf around her neck. The room was medium-sized and disgustingly colorful, and a lady walked in. She said her family was here. Family?? Vortex rushed out, happy to meet her family, but was only met with a little girl in a blue dress. "That one. His name's Vortex." Vortex didn't like the sound of that. Before she could protest, the 7 year old snotty girl dragged her home, the girls parents treating her like the baby she was.
Vortex wasn't a stranger to confined spaces, but she didn't think a real family would keep their relatives in a cage in the youngest one's room. Vortex wasn't much interacted with, more of kept there to look at. Often, she'd stare at the little girl, unblinking. The girl cried to her parents, but Vortex would remain neutral in behavior. It sort of gave her a sadistic glee to see she was scaring this ungrateful little child. Soon, the girls idiocy grew, and Vortex resented it.
One of the rare times that the girl tried to "train" her, she saw other pokemon. Being on a leash, she couldn't interact with others much. They looked down on her, being displayed so pitifully being leashed down to the snob of the town. One day, she saw a large, orange dragon. She had the feeling this was of her blood.... She risked talking to it. The large male Charizard addressed her. His words stuck to her more than anyone elses. "Dear, you shouldn't allow them to treat you this way. By our species, we are noble dragons. The honor of our blood should be shown in our acts, our life. Don't let them suppress you, dear, it's unbecoming. You're worth much more than their hoards of money, by your blood." Vortex never forgot what he said to her. From then on, she finally knew she had kin, a family, out there somewhere. And she'd break out and live, for them.
One day, the epidemic had become a world-wide disaster and was becoming well known now. Vortex listened to them shuffle, the giant bedroom going from empty to preoccupied. They let her loose, but put her on a collar, still suppressed. This was her time. As they were leaving, they let their attention off of her. She ripped the collar off, running away quickly. She ignored their shouts to come back. Vortex faltered, however, when she heard their screams of agony as they got eaten alive. The Kangaskhan came back to her mind, making her feel guilty. Alone, she kept on, many joining her, and many she tried to open up to, trying to be socially self-secure. They all seemed to leave her, or she ran. She wouldn't run away anymore.

She likes to delve into her heritage, and she wants to meet others of her kind some day. •Selfless: When possible, she's selfless. She likes to help others, but she doesn't like it when they thank her. She likes thankless jobs, and she'll defend others who seem helpless. She knows helpless from aggressive.
~Negatives: •Anti-Social: She is very afraid of other people, frightened over what they may do or say to her because she feels so different. It's hard for her to interact, and it's really one of her goals to get over this phobia and illness and be something people will look up to. In that though, she throws herself into things she can handle, but some things she can't handle. She will not tolerate very vague things others do or say, as she is scared of their intentions. She also has never met another Charmeleon, so she feels very out of place with anyone else that isn't her species. But she'll change this about her eventually, if she finds out some people are very good friends. •Defensive: When she is overly-stressed or afraid, she turtles into herself for self defense, as not to leave herself open. In this state, she may be a bit insensitive, and she is prone to internally freaking out even if she tries to rid herself of emotion. She likes to consider herself pretty capable of taking things down, and she will fight vigorously if she has to, even if she doesn't want to. She truly don't want to hurt anyone even if she thinks everyone will hurt her. She doesn't really know all of her fears are inside of her head, and most don't want to kill anyone they don't have to. •Fear: She is usually very scared of things, and she's afraid she'll become infected, to the point where she'll be devoid of emotion. She's afraid and despises humans because all she's ever known of humans is to be scientists and snobbish and selfish. But she'll see not all humans are bad, and some ca be good. •Abandonment: She feels abandoned by her family, and she's felt abandoned by many of her previous team-mates. She's been extremely reluctant to join another group, but she'll force herself. If she see another one of her teammates being violent, it make take a while to regain her resolve because of being scared of others violence, actions and such.
