How do I determine a Vivillon's pattern?

I'm not quite sure how to go about the pattern thing for Vivillon. I was just thinking maybe it is permanent and determined by where they were born as Scatterbug, since this is (sorta) how it works in XY. However, the dex entry may indicate that their pattern can change depending on location.

I mostly want to know before I start writing the early years for Isolde, and if I might need to have more than one image available.

Vivillon patterns are permanent, so whatever you use will never change.

And I would say that you can just use whatever pattern you want, since we cant match the pokemon world with real life places since in EJ the real world IS there as well as the regions

As for the location part, it could be somewhat generalized. Like a modern pattern was born in a city, and icy snow, tundra, and polar patterns were born in a snowy area. I don't know if that matters as much, though.

That's a good thought, you can go ahead and stick with that logic if youre specific about your character;s birth place. Though I would also say that it depends on where the Scatterbug was bred, not necessary hatched, as that is much more realistic.
