| History | Cynthia was born in Celestic Town in the Sinnoh region, and lived there under the care of her grandparents. She spent her childhood days adventuring inside the ruins and listening to stories of myth and legend from her grandmother, the town elder. Fueled by an insatiable thirst for adventure, she set out on a journey to become a Trainer when she was old enough. Her grandmother gave her a Gible as a gift and starter Pokemon for her quest. At some point, she met Professor Rowan and received a Pokedex from him. Cynthia traveled the entire region, catching and raising a large number of Pokemon. Her dream was to become the strongest Trainer in the world, and pushed her Pokemon hard to win battles. As she got older, she started to realise that it was the bonds that Trainers had with their Pokemon that brought out their true strength rather than just training them until they could take no more. With this in mind, she decided to spend as much time with her teammates as possible when they weren't busy. She was particularly close to her starter, who had evolved into Garchomp by the end of their journey. Cynthia eventually reached the Elite Four and, after a series of intense battles, achieved the title of Sinnoh Champion, a position that she maintained for many years. She was a formidable opponent, ending many a Trainer's lifelong dreams in an instant. Despite that, though, she was always up to giving advice to her young challengers, and encouraging them to build the bonds with their Pokemon before coming back for a rematch. Her authority and power never corrupted her for an instant, and she knew it. Helping to determine who would take her place as Champion was upsetting but rewarding at the same time. A few years into her reign, disaster struck. There was news of an epidemic of a deadly disease that was infecting Pokemon around the world, making them extremely dangerous. Cynthia heard a radio transmission, calling as many of the world's top Trainers as possible to the Indigo Plateau in Kanto. Taking those she could with her, she eventually made it to find that the whole area had been barricaded up and that they were using it as a research facility. Cynthia approached Lance, who appeared to be the leader, and told him that she would do anything possible to help research-wise. While she was in no way suited for the science of the operation, she quickly became known as one of the Resistance's best scholars and a personal adviser to Lance. She also used her Pokemon to fight should the situation demanded it, and helped some of the other Trainers to practice their own battling skills. One day, Cynthia decided that she wasn't going to get very far in her research by sitting around in her study all day, and so decided to go out to do some field work. She packed her belongings and said goodbye to her friends at the HQ, hoping that she could return with some good news. |

| Personality | Cynthia, despite everything that has happened, is still a kind, respectful and professional woman. Calm, polite and patient, she is very easy to get along with. It is the initial meeting with Cynthia when others tend to misjudge her. The former Champion still carries a radiance of authority wherever she goes, affronted by her ability to keep her cool in most situations and her formidable team of Pokemon. More often than not, some newcomers have been afraid of her, believing that she will shun them for being weaker or will use her power to her advantage. She does no such thing. While very aware of her strength in battle, Cynthia is never boastful and never looks down her nose at less experienced Trainers. However, she still battles as ruthlessly as she did when she was Champion, and secretly prides herself in her power. She knows, though, that most of this power if because of her Pokemon's belief in her and her friendship with them, and tries to spread this message to other Trainers. Cynthia is an avid reader and is never seen far away from a form of printed material, often carrying a book around with her so she can hop into it whenever she has a spare moment. The woman has a strong fascination with mythology and ancient history, specializing particularly in the Creation Myth of Sinnoh. She will share her knowledge to anyone who asks (sometimes they don't!) and believes that her fate is somehow intertwined with this interest. She remains hopeful that, one day, she can take this knowledge with her and do something worthwhile with it. Cynthia wants to be convinced that the legendary Pokemon of the world are the key to purging the world of the epidemic, but has no way of knowing yet. She knows full well that there are scientists out there who work tirelessly to find a cure, and wouldn't be surprised if they have better luck than she does. |
| Affiliations | -Lucian and Bertha- Elite four members that had been left behind. She deeply regrets that she was unable to find them or Lucian's brother before having to leave. -Flint- ??? -Aaron- He is at HQ as a person who works in security, and she is grateful that he is there. -Lance- Once upon a time, she had feelings for him, but as the Epidemic has worn on, these feelings have faded. She doesn't approve of how he treats Steven and sometimes won't listen to her. -Diantha- They shared a casual friendship before the Epidemic. Cynthia deeply misses her fellow champion and hopes that she is still alive out there. -Steven- She senses that the younger champion is suffering from something, but she doesn't feel it is her place to pry. She has tried to protect him from some of Lance's nastier outbursts. -Platinum, Pearl, and Lucas- She aided these three to the best of her ability in order to stop Team Galactic. Lucas and Platinum both also fought and defeated her later on, but both of them declined the title and disappeared before anyone found out Cynthia had lost. She couldn't blame them for that, and she hoped that they enjoyed their lives wherever that lead them. After the Epidemic started, she had hoped that maybe they would be in the group of refugees, but felt a immense sadness when they weren't. Like the others, she only hopes that they're still alive. -Cyrus- Leader of the team that tried to destroy the world. He was so charismatic, but the dead look in his eyes deeply concerned and worried her.
