History | Rocket- Born in a laboratory. The small Zigzagoon was destined to be nothing but a nameless experiment. Spending his days in a small pen with a dozen others that hatched with him, the Zigzagoon didn't know what was going on. They were taken away, one by one, by the white coated men. Most of the time they were returned later on, parts of their bodies shaved and anesthesia making them drowsy, but over time their numbers died down. But even though things were obviously wrong, the raccoon had dreams. He had big dreams, of going outside and being on his own and doing all the things he wanted. He was scared, alongside his brothers and sisters, and in those first six months of life he saw horrible things. One Zigzagoon he saw completely skinned, just muscle showing as they tried to wretch their bones and make them more humanlike, standing on hind legs. The Zigzagoon had nightmares, though none was worse than the waking life. But fortune smiled upon him, men in blue and black swarming the white walled laboratory one day, weapons held up. The operation had been illegal experimentation, he learned in listening to the humans afterwards, but he had been one of the lucky ones. He had an ugly circular scar on his back but he escaped with his life. Afterwards he and the other few survivors were sent to a sanctuary to recuperate and be given away to young trainers. It was the first time he ever saw and felt grass, water, nature. He coined his name Rocket in that time, living in the pseudo wild with countless other Pokemon also all rescued. He was happy for the first time. But after a short time, Pokemon were slowly starting to be given away. Rocket watched as Pokeballs were used and realised in horror that they were being taken by trainers. Cursing the humans, Rocket reacted rashly, sprinting through the door without any planning. He just knew he had to get away. Escape a life of living with humans. However it was too late, and the cunning raccoon was captured in an Ultra ball. He could not fight. He was trapped. The next many years of his life was spent with a man who trained him, alongside a number of other Hoenn Pokemon including a Breloom and Swablu. Rocket hated it. The man restricted his freedom, forced him to do what he wanted. Resentment grew for many years, long after evolving in the man's care. Rocket gave up trying to escape after a decade with his Ultra ball. It just wasn't possible without help. And help came in the form of a Salamence named Hajvan. The dragon stumbled upon Rocket during a training session, the Linoon's trainer ordering him to attack despite the obvious gap in strength. Instead, Rocket begged Hajvan to destroy his Pokeball, to free him. The Salamence obviously shared his opinion in humans and helped without asking questions, ripping the Ultra ball from the man and smashing it under his claws. Finally free, Rocket fled before he could be captured again, Hajvan following at a more leisure pace. Once alone, the dragon asked for the reason behind why he needed to get away, and so Rocket explained all of the things humans had done to him. He never asked for any of it. He just wanted to run and be his own Pokemon, grass beneath his paws. The Salamence shared his opinion, glad he could help, and wished Rocket luck before flying off on his way. In the weeks afterward, the Linoone found his way to a massive community living off the map. They were guarded by a tribe of Trevenant and no trainers were able to breach their defenses. Rocket was welcomed to the community and did not argue, happily settling into his own home for the first time in his life. Years passed uneventfully as he got used to spending time with other Pokemon and no more humans, but the worst happened when a fire spread through the forest. Evacuated along with the others, Rocket lost his home like everyone else in the community. The worst to be hit were their beloved Trevenant guardians, though, as they were almost entirely wiped out. In the end, they were left under the protection of a single Trevenant, the largest one named Groot. Rocket grew weary, trainers managing to breach their home for the first time. Pokemon were captured, others attacked by predators. But when the epidemic hit, the worst crashed down on the forest. Undead wiped everyone out. Rocket found himself alone in the fighting, only backed up by Groot, the last guardian Trevenant. Teaming up, they left the forest together. Despite the bitter loss of their home, they found a kindred spirit in each other and became a close pair. Rocket grew to genuinely like Groot in the years they spent surviving together, now becoming a nearly unstoppable pair in battle. Groot- Born and raised in the wild, Groot was always an odd child. His community was a massive one, a huge lush forest his home along with his family. Groot was a part of a colony of Trevenant that took great pride in their duties as guardians of their forest. The Phantump grew up learning the ways of the forest and how to protect it at all cost. Raised by all the adults of the large group alongside the other children, he grew up with ever Trevenant as his mother or father. Life had purpose and it was one Groot loved. The Pokemon of the forest adored and revered the Trevenant tribe. The living trees protected them and in turn kept humans away, making it impossible for anyone to be captured and taken from their home. Groot was different, though. He ended up being much stronger than his friends. He grew much faster and healed from seemingly impossible wounds. The elder trees took special interest in the child and gave him the necessity to evolve at a young age, shocking them when he grew to a seven foot tall Trevenant. His speech was different, he could only find himself saying one small phrase; "I am Groot." No one minded, he was a particularly adored member of their family and everyone helped him when he had trouble. But contrary to the common belief, Groot was not mentally incapable, in fact he was just as smart as the other of his kind. He just saw things differently, reacted to violence but took words to heart. A true gentle giant most of the time, it was rare when he actually showed rage and his true power, only really happening when trouble showed itself or the forest was under threat. He grew stringer naturally, faster than most of his kind, and when going into adulthood, he was the strongest of the guardian Trevenant, but by far the most gentle? However a horrible event happened after many years of peace. A forest fire swept through their natural home, started by a massive gang of fire Pokemon that thrived off of chaos. Leaving the forest to burn, they brought nothing short of calamity with them. The Trevenant got the Pokemon evacuated before trying to fight back, but it was very much in vein. Naturally burning and catching fire as rapidly as the normal tree, many, many Trevenant and Phantump died in the days fighting the fire. In the end, virtually none were left besides Groot and less than half a dozen others from their group of a hundred plus family. Groot was devastated, but the others told him they were going to travel. Find aid and bring help to revive the damage done to the forest. Groot stayed behind as the last sole guardian Trevenant. As the days turned to months, then years, though, it became clear that he would remain the last survivor of the tragedy. Many years passed and the forest recovered seldom, but the civilian community was as large as ever. But without their beloved guardians, trainers and predators alike cut the population. Groot was powerful, but he was only one Pokemon. Even with new blood finding refuge, the population remained nothing compared to when they had their protectors. Things only became worse when the Epidemic came. Groot fought long and hard to protect his people, but it was not enough. Everyone was wiped out in the end, everyone save for a newer face around the forest, a formally human owned Linoone named Rocket. Having never spent much personal time with Rocket, Groot did not know him well, but with the forest dead, they left it together. Over the years they have become extremely close, helping each other and becoming an unstoppable duo. |
Appearance | "Linoone is a slender-bodied quadruped Pokémon. It has sharp, elongated claws and small pointed teeth. It has white fur with brown stripes with one long stripe stretching the length of the body and ending at an arrowhead right above its eyes. It has small, tuft-like ears and blue eyes." Average for his species for the most part, Rocket has average colouration with deep, black beady eyes. His fur is normally ruffled and he has many scars on his back beneath his fur that is generally unable to bee seen unless his pelt is parted. He prefers to walk on his hind legs though drops to all fours when needing to move fast. He is most often seen hanging in Groot's branches and on his shoulder. "Trevenant is a slender brown tree that stands on six roots bent like spider legs. It has two zigzag indentations wrapped around its body from missing bark. There are two large, crooked horn-like gnarls on either side of its head, and another smaller gnarl on its forehead, with a tuft of green leaves in the middle and a large, menacing dark-red eye below them. Its two arms are held horizontally level, thin upper arms and thick forearms, with missing rings of bark at the elbow and below the shoulder; a black shadow connects them. Each upper arm has a single small spike or leaf. The forearms have a small branch immediately before a large cuff of green foliage at the wrist, connected to hands with three wooden pincer spikes for fingers." Average in colouration for his species, Groot is fairly normally. He sports a smaller amount of leaves than normal Trevenant, more like a thin line of leaves on his hands and an even scarcer amount in his branches, moss grows all over his body when in hospitable environments as well. Much thicker and obviously more brawny than most Trevenant, he is very intimidating without meaning to, especially due to being massive in comparison to other of his kind. But despite his hard rugged exterior, Groot is very gentle, and often has a childlike wonder in his eye and a bright smile. |
Personality | Rocket- A little shit, mischievous, trouble maker No care for right or wrong-- will rob someone without second though Thrill seeker, loves a good time like a brawl or a drink, but not suicidal-- in fact very cautious in unfair odds Rough exterior, tough guy act, hides insecurities and fears Considers himself and Groot professionals in what they do (though they dont really know themselves what they do) Sarcastic, snarky, immature Groot- Gentle usually, loves nature and small precious things-- small children, small bird Pokemon, flowers or sunny days Sensitive, feelings are easily hurt by harsh words and will back off when upset Adores Rocket, cares for him due to him being the last forest Pokemon from his old home Brutal in battle, ruthless and very powerful Does not hold grudges, very open, friendly, though perceptive |
User Notes | -Based off of Rocket Raccoon and Groot from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy -Groot only speaks saying "I am Groot," but despite this Rocket can understand what he is saying or means, almost like a trainer with his partner Pokemon who only speaks their name. -Rocket hates humans, especially trainers. He blames them for screwing up his early life and bitterly hates them. While he will not outright attack one, he does not trust them and will refuse to take advice from a human. -Hajvan the Salamence is my own character. Profile. |
