History | "Go to sleep, with this gift of mine, this gift that will help you sleep well... Yes, I am the Princess Sandman who brings you sleep, all so that you can stay happy..." - The Gift From the Princess Who Brought Sleep Nothing makes a parent more proud than their newborn child. Kvove was born in the wild, to a proud mother. The father hadn't stayed, and so the Lapras never knew her sire. From the moment Kvove hatched from her egg, her mother was always fussing, extremely overprotective of her daughter. She wasn't allowed to stray very far, let alone swim around on her own. Kvove, although she loved her mother, wanted to explore more of the world. Her mother told her tales about how their kind were nearly extinct, how violence was looked down upon by their species, and often sang her to sleep. Kvove, wanting a beautiful voice like her mother's, practiced singing all the time, eventually occasionally coming to annoy the other pokemon of the sea when she would sing in discordant tones repeatedly for practice. Eventually, when Kvove was about a young child, she managed to escape her mother's watchful eyes. Unfortunately for the still-young Lapras, as she was singing and wandering around the sea on her own, some humans spotted her. They promptly captured her with a pokeball, to her dismay; she never saw her mother again. From these humans, she had earned the name she goes by today: "Kvove". The humans that captured her turned out to be scientists, who had caught her for pokemon reservation purposes, in an attempt to boost up the population of endangered or rare pokemon such as Lapras or Kabutops. Although extremely unhappy at first, Kvove grew used to her new life, and even enjoy it when she was given a nice, caring man to raise her. However, as Kvove grew up, she became more emotionless. She knew her caretaker was only there because she was an endangered pokemon that had to be protected and kept strong. She also grew more apathetic as she learned more about the woes and grievances of the world. However, one thing she had never lost her touch in was her singing. She would often lie down with her caretaker and sing him to sleep, before falling asleep with him. Kvove also grew to love sleep. Sleep was warm, peaceful, and safe. Nothing could hurt you while you were asleep, and there was nothing to worry about. It was also a way to escape reality, and the harshness of the world. After all, you couldn't be unhappy in a dream where you were the master of everything, right? A couple months later, the Epidemic came. Being a pokemon that thrives in the water, Kvove caught a strain of the virus before long and became infected. However, she did not show any violent tendencies; instead, her sanity and health began to drain. Her belief that sleep was the best medicine grew stronger, until eventually, one day, she sang Perish Song in the quiet facility. Kvove thought that, like this, everyone could stop suffering in the world that the Virus was wreaking havoc upon. Three days later, all who heard the song died, including Kvove herself. A couple hours after her "mercy killing", Kvove reawakened, the infection in her body reanimating her cells. The Lapras had woken up from her temporary slumber as a member of the living dead. Her negative view of the world only increased after death, and so she decided; she would help the world fall into a peaceful sleep, so that there may be no more pain. Then... she could finally sleep again until she reawakened into a better world, like a twisted tale of Sleeping Beauty. |
Appearance | "Lapras is a large sea creature that resembles a plesiosaur. It has a spotted, blue hide with a cream underside. Its neck is long, and it has large black eyes. There is a short horn in the middle of its forehead and curled ears placed farther back on its head. Instead of legs, it has four flippers with the foremost pair being larger than the hind. On its back is a heavy, gray shell covered in blunt knobs." Kvove is a Lapras of average height. However, due to the Infection and her unenthusiastic response to personal health and hygiene, she is a couple kilograms underweight. Some chunks from her shell are also missing, most notably the protruding horns, along with some cracks and missing fragments. Her colors have also become somewhat duller and darker. Because of Kvove's constant singing and wailing, her throat has become damaged, and she can occasionally be seen coughing blood from this and the effects of Infection. When speaking normally, her voice is slightly rough and very quiet, causing her to not be very noticeable when she speaks. Oddly, her voice is normal only when she sings. Being a Lapras and raised by humans for part of her life, she knows some human speech, but isn't very fluent. When she was alive, her eyes were not the usual black/dark brown of a Lapras, but rather a lighter blue-green; however, now the irises have turned into a dark rusty red that shine with increasing paranoia. |
Personality | Apathetic, trouble relating, detached-- from both herself, others, and events, has issues bonding or making friendships Tends to not think clearly or perceive events properly, despite seeing it with her own eyes can be purely uncomprehending-- has unhindered hearing or sight however is prone to asking for someone to repeat themselves for her to catch it the second or third time(or alternatively watching an event occur and asking "What just happened?") Melancholy (not sad but always having a tired air), exhausted, quiet and speaking very rarely High tolerance, not prone to reacting much at all to almost anything, much rather would be support support than ever physically fight in battle While difficult to anger her she is prone to grudges-- a low, burning hatred that will last a long time, is liable to lash out at those she dislikes or startle her (much like how a wild animal would under the influence of fear or rage), paranoid, cynical, will not immediately trust however tends to do nothing even if she does suspect, not shocked by cruelty or hatred any more, tends to just keep silent and watch even when someone is acting out harshly Prone to random lapses in sanity she will lash out for seemingly no reason, difficult to trigger (the infection being the main cause), will bite and screech before coming back to |
