History | Zapdos never took life too seriously and he didn't take the plague as seriously, either. He was not worried in the least as the undead rose and became more and more powerful by the day, and he did not worry even when his siblings made no contact with him. If Zapdos knew Moltres and Articuno- and he did- they would be fine. In his eyes they were probably somewhere sulking and hiding, leaving him to save the day again, as usual. But he wasn't going to stand for that this time, no sire. Instead, he simply stayed in his favorite spot- the Power Plant in Kanto. Zapdos was just going to wait this out until the two came crying to him for help. Again. However, as time passed, no one came. Some of the infected tried to attack him, but Zapdos easily took care of them, but whole months went by. He started to worry. Where were Articuno and Moltres? Or Lugia, for that matter. Did he care enough about his son? After enough of that, Zapdos became desperate -although he would never admit it- and set off to find his fellow Legends. What he found showed just how much he had misjudged the outbreak. His home was in ruins, the living being chased in every corner and every crevice. Zapdos was horrified. He didn't even go check to see if Moltres and Articuno were okay- he simply fled. Running into his father in Johto, Zapdos left him almost immediately. He needed to do things on his own, Zapdos needed to regain his pride. His father did not see him as anything but a child, he knew this in his gut. He needed to prove himself; he would prove himself! |
Appearance | Zapdos is an avian Pokémon with predominantly yellow plumage. Black rings encircle its eyes, and it has a long, thin, light orange beak. Its wings and tail are a mass of spiky feathers, with black feathers covering the back of its wings and inner tail feathers. A large crest of spiked feathers surrounds its head. Its thighs are a khaki color, and it has anisodactyl feet ending in talons. When Zapdos flaps its glittering wings, it releases electricity that can potentially cause thunderstorms. It produces massive crackling and snapping sounds when it flies; these are attributed to the lightning bolts sheds when airborne. When stricken by lightning, it gains power. Zapdos reportedly appears only during thunderstorms, and is said to live among thunderclouds. However, it is rarely seen. |
Personality | Zapdos has gone his entire life living as a revered god of sorts, and thus is used to having a certain reaction to his presence. Over the years humans of all kinds tried to tame and capture him in one of their Pokeball devices, but he was never one to be quelled, let alone caught. His personality stems from this. True to his actions, he comes off as bold, confident in his actions, and cocky. Holding himself proud and tall, he stands at only a mere 5'03" but has the boast to seem even larger. He believes in getting the respect he deserves, and can show off an impeccable amount of stubbornness when challenged. He has a big mouth under that beak and can talk himself into a troublesome situation in no time flat. Too proud to admit he has no clue what he is doing, Zapdos tends to just go off on a whim, or his 'Legendary Instinct' as he will put it; when asked to explain what this is by non-legendary Pokemon, he merely tells them it is something their tiny minds cannot fathom. Quite literally nothing but a child in a god's body, Zapdos knows less about the real world than those who grew up in it, but would never ask for information or help due to his pride. Straightforward, he is blunt to an almost cruel extent, and as a result tends to hurt feelings without meaning to. Despite being a certified moron at times, Zapdos truly is sincere. He does not mean any harm, though following his lead and going along with his exploits seldom does more good than bad. When bringing about a truly bad or dire situation among those following him, Zapdos falls into a fog of guilt and depression, the opposite of his boisterous, loud self, he will need to be cheered up or leave the group without any word. His inner emotions are hidden easily by the happy, confident front he puts on, but in reality he is insecure, lonely, and worried. Feeling inferior to his father and other Legends in general, he is incredibly sensitive to the the subject of his brothers and sisters. If he were honest with himself, Zapdos would admit that he is truly frightened by the Epidemic. If it were possible to leave and fly somewhere untouched by it, he would. Even though it is the lowest and most coward thing to do, he fears for his life and is desperate not to die. But along with his desperation to stay alive and uninfected, Zapdos is also desperate to make his father Lugia ad his fellow legends proud of him. He thinks that, due to being so helpless in the face of infection, they, too, look down on him for not being able to do more. This is irrational and not true, as the other legends do not care what he does but at the same time they, too, are helpless against the epidemic. He is just like the rest of them but blinded by low self esteem. And being of legendary status, Zapdos is incredibly powerful. Like any of his brothers and sisters, he could cause chaos and destruction if he loses control. Being nothing more than a desperate child trying to do things right without thinking them through, he is very easily hurt by cruel words, and as a result can become angry easily. Though thankfully he has a good control over letting his natural power get out of control, when angry, upset, depressed, or distraught, electricity is prone to falling from his form in sparks that strength depend on the emotion. But if pushed too far by someone foolish enough to push the Legend too far, he can cause thunderbolts to fall from the sky, wind storms and thunderclouds to gather, and by that point his emotions are too far to know what he is doing and stop. Zapdos rarely gets that bad, though, and even when he is pushed so far he is more likely to leave the location than actually harm someone. Regardless, he feels horrible guilt and nothing but shame afterwards. |
