History | Javert, from the moment of his birth, only knew the law. Raised by a human of the military, he was very soon disciplined, his childhood quickly taken from him. He was a pokemon of war, of justice, and most importantly, the law. This rigorous dogma was instilled in him and he accepted it wholeheartedly, embracing and following it religiously. Because of his vigor to uphold his station and the laws he protected, he and his human rose quickly and significantly in the ranks and power of their government. He had beens stationed overlooking prisoners, -human and pokemon alike- a guard dog for the filthy and impure that tainted his precious city. A zebstrika, a soulless heathen convicted of theivery and cowardice, was granted parol underneath Javert's watchful eye. The prisoner, #24601, otherwise known as "Valjean", already began flashing the fires of rebellion and hate in his eyes, a flame Javert was want to snuff. A quick exchange of words told the then Manectric that this ingrate was one to watch-- however, the zebstrika disappeared, slithering into the dark and unknown. Javert was furious. Never before had a prisoner escaped without a trace like this, eluding the ever-dutiful manectric so. No one escaped him, and as the days, weeks, months, years rolled on, Javert became completely obsessed. His already strict regimen morphing into borderline psychotic, he rose further in rank and scoured the region itself, sniffing for even the smallest hint of Valjean's whereabouts. Finally, success. Hidden under the innocent ruse of local philanthropist, Valjean was revealed, and Javert only too happily gave chase. But it seemed that as Javert grew more and more determined, Valjean grew more and more stealthy, clandestine. Once more, the slippery fiend slithered through Javert's grasp, just evading the manectric's righteous jaws. But something was off this time around; the zebstrika carted with him a small vulpix. Where and how he had managed to kidnap the child was beyond Javert, but it was another crime marked against the zebstrika. He would pay. More time went by, more opportunity for his obsession in finding Valjean to intensify. But even as his search continued, a small uprising of pokemon and children begged his attention, his duties as civil servant coming first before his mad search of vengeance. He slid in undercover, playing a friend to them until he was revealed a sham. They bound him, beat him and nearly killed him, but one pokemon stepped out, calling for them to stop their assault. Valjean. He expected venomous words. He expected more brutality. Maybe a slow death, dying of his wounds and starvation so he would feel every moment his body perished a little bit more. But no; what he hadn't expected was what Valjean granted him: freedom. Out of instinct, Javert fled, back to his precious laws and bars as emotions he'd never felt over the years began rearing their ugly heads, gnawing at his very soul. Guilt, regret, doubt... they plagued him as his mind was torn asunder by indecision. What was he to do? Let an escaped con walk free in a trade for his own life? Abandon the very tennants of faith he'd been serving literally all his life for a man he only knew as an evil on the world? Was this some terrible trickery, or was this truly a gesture of goodwill? He knew the plauge he'd been on Valjean's life-- he'd made sure of it. Why would he allow him to escape...? It was too much for Javert to comprehend. Isolated, alone, hopeless and deprived of rationale, he found the highest building he could find, and resolved to end it all. End the torture of this unbearable burden and throw Valjean's pity back in his face as one last gesture of spite. However, as he rose atop the building, lightning struck him, triggering his evolution even as he fell. Because of his strengthened body, he endured the fall, if only just. His trainer, shocked and appalled at the sight, rushed to save his precious partner. Taking his strange evolution as a sign from above that it was not yet his time, Javert allowed himself to recover, resolving that he needed to confront Valjean one more time. However, as he set out to do so, a plague settled on the land, rendering once good, lawful pokemon into rotting demons from the mouth of Hell itself. After many months of struggle and toil, he stumbled across a scared ninetales, her beauty and the fear in her eyes telling him she was Valjean's pup all those years ago. He took her with him, and together, they search for Valjean, for better or worse. -Born in poverty -Mother was unable to care for her -sent to another family for care -Unknown to her, mother died, Valjean came to adopt her -lived a life of running and hiding -met Marius, fell in love -whisked away by Valjean -Epidemic struck -lost Valjean -found by Javert, now traveling with him. |
Appearance | Upon first looking at this rare specimen of a pokemon, it is obvious that he is unyeilding. Proud frame, Javert carries himself with the pride of a dutiful soldier and commander. He is a normal Delectroke otherwise. Cosette, though stunning, is a normal ninetails in perfect health. |
