Outside Outskirt Stand | Early Morning

Her pads sting as the sand scraps against them from her Sand Attack but Artemis presses on. The splay of sharp flecks hits the Charmander dead on, its whimpers ringing through her ears like a sweet song. Kicking until her paws were aching with pain the whimpers had turned to full sobbing. "W-Why are you doing this to me!?" By now any cinders in the sand had died out and a shifting hole had appeared where she had kicked the grains away. "You did it first!" She spits seasing the attack to turn around, a Shadow Ball forming at her lips. Its pleas are loud and shrill, "I'm only a kid, why are you doing this to me!"
..What? She stared the sniffling sniveling creature in the eye with her own wide cyan ones. The hazy cover was clearing now and it was easy to see the youth of his scales and brightness of his blood. You're the same age as me. It yelled and sobbed. This Pokemon seemed so young now, more like Elijah than.. No. You're not like us at all. Life had been cruel to her, it had made her tough. The Charmander was weak while she was strong! Artemis' eyes grew glossy, threatening to drip tears that she desperately fought back. Her voice was distressed, "There is no place for kids anymore!" No one had shown her son mercy, why should she? Clenching her eyes shut the Vaporeon shot the Shadow Ball at the ground to send a shower of scratching flecks around them.
Phantom could hear her. The moments rest had allowed him to recover himself and the Growlithe could see those blue scales through the clearing smog just before the explosion of sand swallowed her. His mind said to go but his paws hesitated for a moment before pressing forward. Was she attacking the undead or the other possible ally? Defense or offense? Helping or hurting? There was too many variables that only made him rush his large paws forward. Please be alright. Now underneath them the falling grains of sand trickle into his thick pelt and uncomfortably jab his skin. He can hear the roar of the undead again but can not pinpoint its location. Defensively flames bubble up in his mouth as Artemis becomes clearer.
