History | A life made for darkness the moment his egg hatched. The baby Murkrow was in a nursery with dozens of other Murkrow, all with different special moves and abilities. His was his father's moves passed down to him, giving him a great advantage in small squables the chicks had with eachother in the cooped up room. None were given names, but numbers. His was #371. And so 371 he became. It wasn't too terrible for the Murkrow, for he had never known anything better. However, the nursery that he had hatched in was in a facility for Team Rocket, the group of pokemon trainers that were always into criminal activity. 371 never knew anything different so he couldn't realize that they were bad people. After a few mounths of the chicks growing and becoming stronger, they were given their places in the world. Some where sent to far away bases to live in lands on the other side of Kanto, others were given to grunts to be used as tools such as Flying from city to city, but 371 was given a lucky break. Due to his natural fighting ability he was born in, he was given to a young man by the name of Taylor. Taylor had been with the organization for a short time but had already been climbing up in status of the Rockets. He was given 371 along with his promotion of being in charge of the entire base they built just south of Mt. Silver. Taylor treated the young Murkrow as just a pokemon tool at first, only releasing him from his pokeball if training. But after a few weeks, the normally cold man softened up. He awoke in the morning to find his pokemon perched at the head of his bed, sound asleep, when he had been in his pokeball the night before. Taylor almost immediately began treating him as an equal partner instead of just a mindless tool. He named the Murkrow Sem. Sem and Taylor became best of friends and were inseperable. The geunts of the base sneered at Taylor for being a Pokemon lover, but Sem had steadily grown in level and could easily defeat any Rocket trainer there. Soon no one was pointing and sneering at Taylor, whom always had his loyal Sem perched upon his shoulder. After many years of power and steady growth, Taylor had his first real test. A trainer broke into the base, trying to sabotoge the Rocket's operations. Her name was Jai and she had a Ninjask, Nace, by her side. But she was found and taken prisoner in the building, seperating her from her pokemon. Taylor was in charge of Jai, checking on her daily, but after weeks things changed. He started to have feelings for the bold trainer, and Sem coukd tell. A few mounths later, and Jai had her escape attempt. She broke Nace out and was almost to the exit when a grunt ambushed her. Taylor rushed to her side and, despite being the one in charge, tackled the grunt. He commanded Sem to get them safely out. The Murkrow quickly guided Jai and her Ninjask out and through the wilderness of the mountains. The trio waited for word from Taylor, but none ever came. Sem couldn't just go back or look for him- that would involve abandoning the two that Taylor told him to protect. After a few weeks, they were forced to abandon their wait as the mountain was becoming hostile with the seasons changing. It broke Sem's heart- almost as much as it had broken Jai's. They had both loved Taylor, if for different reasons, giving up on him hurt both of then. Jai, however, asked Sem if he would like to perminantly join her team. Sem agreed, allowing himself to be captured in her Moon Ball. Jai had many other pokemon that she had trained and traveled with, but Nace and Sem were the only ones always with her and as the years went by, the trio trusted eachother and were inseperable. Jai did offer to have Sem evolve as they explored the Shinnoh region, but he openly refused. Sem didn't beleive that he needed to evolve to become stronger but he also secretly disn't want to change incase Taylor returned. What if his best friend wouldn't recognize him? Jai took her partners across the world various times and soon Sem lost track of even what region they were on. He was happy, even if he did miss Taylor bitterly. He became the wise one of the three and soon both Jai and Nace would come to him for advise. Sem was the father of the group. But everything went terribly wrong. As the Epidemic swept across the land, Jai's beloved pokemon all either succumed to infection or were killed until only Sem and Nace survived. They protected their trainer with their entire beings and didn't allow any threat to come near her. For mounths they managed to avoid trouble and it almost seemed that they would survive. But one night, while the three rested, a huge bird came out of nowhere. It was rotting with greasy feathers and red eyes and it dug its talons into Jai, ripping her stomach. Sem and Nace woke to her screams of pain and fear... but the bird carried her away before either could do a thing. Sem and Nace were devestated- after all of that time they just lost her. The Ninjask was hit the hardest, relying on Sem to lead and protect them. After a few weeks, Nace simply wandered off in the middle of the night and never returned. Sem was alone. He had never been so alone. The Murkrow traveled alone, trying not to dwell on the hell that his life had become. He was met with a few fights, undead just wanting him dead, but overall nothing too huge. Until he changed. His eyes changed their shade of red, looking more like glowing pools of blood instead of just crimson, and his feathers became greasy and foul smelling. Sem didn't want to admit it, but he was infected. At least he wasn't a walking corpse yet. It broke his heart that he had been taken so easily, but he had no bloodlust yet and for that Sem was ever grateful. Then he saw a black cloud come over the sky- a thousand wingbeats and twice as many glowing eyes. It was a flock of dead Murkrow, a massive Honchkrow in the front. Sem realized with horror that he was suppose to join them, given his new place in the world. So when they came close enough, he took to the sky and blended in with the blanket of decay. He stayed with them for a day or two, but he quickly abandoned them. He just didn't have the mindless need for consuming flesh and he couldn't stand being with them. He fled into an abandoned human city, intending to rest, but he was met with a lone Zigzagoon, the poor creature barely moving, but it was alive. Without a single thought, Sem shot down and dug his talons into it's skull, ceacking it open and killing the thing swiftly. The haze left him and Sem realized what he had done. With horror, he fled the scene. He didn't even eat it. He really was a monster now. |
