Beware of Godmoding!
Godmoding |
---|
Not unlike any other RP forum, god moding is strongly frowned upon and will NOT be tolerated. Brutal punishment will be implemented if any of our members are caught doing so in any of the RP. Members are given two warning limits, and two harbinger attacks as a starting limit for misbehavior. If two harbinger attacks or two warnings on that member occur, that member will be banned from the forum unconditionally. To prevent gruesome death from befalling you, familiarize yourself with the following: "God Moding" is, in essence, when someone's character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. And example is when they simply cannot be harmed by any and all means, no matter how other rpers try.
The absolute worst is when they make out another character to be what they're not, just to make their own character seem superior. They make others seem weak (ex: screaming for help), when they’ve made it quite clear about their advantages and strengths. This is called power-play. It’s a strain of God-Moding, but instead of just being irritating, it’s offensive to boot. This is a prime example of God Moding: Player A: Punches Player B. Player B: Dodges attack, grabs Player A and throws him. Player A flies at Player B, who warps behind him and slashes Player A in the back. (Courtesy of the Urban dictionary.) However, posts like this can be acceptable and not considered god moding: or
While it's technically not a violation of our rules to do this, it IS polite to ask permission before using physical contact with another character, and we would prefer if you did ask for permission from the other rper before doing something like the above (as long as the action isn't ridiculously overpowered or taking control of the other character) to avoid conflict . But again, this isn't required, as I understand that you all have a limit for posting on time, so PMing someone for permission for a minor thing isn't always the best option. I'd also like to stress that if you feel uncomfortable or do not appreciate these kind of actions happening to your character, please politely state so in your next post. The 'offending' member should then just change their post to accommodate. Remember that our RP is member moderated, so it is your right here to state so. Just try not to snap at them; ask kindly. Most attacks of this nature happen against a character's will anyway, so this type of action/attack would be an acceptable way of writing it out. If the action is significant or powerful, it is always a good idea to ask the other member if you can do that to their character before you write it. |
