The only sound reverberating through the halls of the cavern were his own heavy breathing and the last screech of an Infected jynx. The houndoom, slightly winded from the battle, plopped down and rested his paws on the kill he had just made; not the jynx, but a freshly dead swinub. Since he had not killed the swinub himself, he blasted the corpse with his fell flame, ridding the body of infection, making it safe for him to eat.

Dante took a quick glimpse around him; fire, though it was very useful for decontaminating kills, it tended to have a nasty habit of attracting Infected. When there was no other sound or scent, he continued to go about his meal, not really caring that it had once been an innocent uninfected.

It was dead now, and that was all that mattered.

Once he finished, he stretched and padded off. It was good to keep moving, though, regrettably, he had gotten lost in the damn maze of a cave. The normal route that trainers often took had been plagued with Infected, and some genius had blasted the normal exit shut. So, he was stuck trying to find a new way out...

Molasses yawned. After a full night within this cold path, he wouldn't be surprised if his feet had fallen off during his nap. In actuality, the Munchlax was starting to lose track of time. It had been a while since he entered this cave, and time seemed to unravel and disappear. Molasses stood up when he heard his stomach grumble. It's cooking time! The Big Eater Pokemon took a few Oran berries from inside his fur, and felt a pang of sadness. Claire would have loved to eat these...

The Munchlax sighed, before looking around until he found a tall slab of ice that would be perfect for his cooking. Using Fire Punch to create a hole in the middle of the slab, Molasses followed up with an Ice Punch to stop the ice from melting. With that all done, he carefully placed the three Oran berries into the hole. Molasses' mouth watered at the thought of a warmed, chewy Oran berry, and proceeded in doing a Thunder Punch to complete the cycle. He peeked into the hole, and was glad to see the toasted Oran berries let off steam and a sweet aroma.

Picking them up, Molasses sat against the slab of ice and started popping the tasty berries into his mouth, savoring the taste that filled his taste buds. The Munchlax dimly noted that he had to find an exit soon; the berries hidden in his fur had started to dwindle, and he would starve to death if he didn't replenish. As Molasses started to doze off, he saw a burst of flame coming a few ways away. He perked up. This was Ice Path, so there shouldn't be any wild Pokemon using fire type moves! The Munchlax stood up, scratching his head in confusion. Then what exactly would have created the flames?

Dante's head perked with the sound of punches thrown, and the scent of berries.... cooking? Keeping his head low, he padded as quietly as he could, approaching a blind corner where, on the other side, the other party was. He sniffed, and could only smell berries.

When he heard footfalls, he lunged at the intruder, snarling viciously, pinning the poor creature beneath his powerful legs. "WHO ARE...You...?" he queried, his ferocious interrogation becoming a simple, awkward question when he saw what the intruder was. It looked like a giant baby with a skirt on. "Er..."

It took Molasses a moment to take in the situation. A four-legged creature had pounced on him, and the bared teeth were dangerously close to his face. Trapped! The Munchlax didn't like the feeling in his gut as the berries under his fur were being crushed by the weight of his attacker. He took a peek at the Pokemon holding him hostage, and from descriptions from a book he had once read, it would seem to be a Houndoom.

    "WHO ARE... you...?"

He flinched at the booming sound of the offender, but when the authority simmered down to a question, Molasses looked up at the Houndoom once more. Could he trust him? The Houndoom had attacked him, but it was probably because he thought he was a zombie. Molasses sniffed. Anything that could cook as well as he can could not possibly be infected! Just a mistake... It was better to forgive and forget, as this Pokemon wasn't ballistic and ready to kill either. What luck was it that two uninfected Pokemon met each other?

"Uh..." Yep, this was awkward. "I'm an uninfected Munchlax, Molasses," he emphasized 'uninfected' to get the point across. "Would you mind getting off me? My berries are being crushed."

“Aw, damn it to all hell!” the Nidoking muttered, wandering through the dark Ice cave. If there was anything the poison pokemon hated the most, it was the cold and the dark…and it was both in the cave. His vision was terrible in low lit areas, so he kept bumping into rocks and walls.
“Where is that little fire-rat when I need him?” referring to his teammate and friend, Cyndaquil, as he made his way carefully along the icy walls, trying his best not to attract any attention. Small icicles fell from the ceiling as he stomped through. He hadn’t run into many infected since he had gotten into the cave, and that concerned him.
That meant something bigger might be eating the smaller ones. He had never been through this cave before, and he was hoping that he would find a way out soon…he hadn’t forgotten his mission for the professor. He knew that time was short…humans can’t survive on their own very well alone.
Though he didn’t want to admit it, he was more worried for Toluca being on her own than the other human.
No, the others will take care of her. It’ll be fine.
He banished the horrible scenes that were popping into his head of his team being overrun by the undead.
Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a flash of ice coming towards him. He jumped out of the way and crashed into a nearby frozen stalagmite, shattering it to pieces with his immense weight.
He searched desperately for where the attack had come from but his eyesight was too poor. He could see nothing but darkness.
He roared in surprise and pain as he felt himself being frozen from behind. The ice mounted around his feet, and then to the rest of his entire body, putting him right in the middle of a translucent ice block.
Shit! I can’t believe it got me! Augh! I’m gonna kill it when I get out of here! Damned bastard!
He continued to rage in his head as he struggled to get out of the ice, angry that he let his guard down.

    ______________________________

The Nidoking had been stuck in the ice for a few hours, unable to move. He was very quickly losing what little oxygen he had in the ice, and was growing frantic…when he heard faint sounds, like those of something hitting rock. Then voices.
Strix was overjoyed- the undead don’t talk! And even if…whatever was out there…were malicious, they would have to break the ice first to get to me...
He began to cry out to the voices, in the hopes that they might hear him.

No icy breath came from the beautiful white disaster pokemon. Her dead eyes starred across the ice path, waiting for prey. How long had it been since she'd had her first kills.....? For some reason when she thought of that human that she had woken up to and killed some part of her became sad. But it was so faint and un thought of.......

The scent of alive ones came then. Her lips curled into a smile. A meal.... a meal... a meal..... what a lovely thought..... Hunger..... smile....

The undead moved forward following the scent of the clean.... oh how sweet would a meal be... the other like her didn't taste that great, it would be nice to have fresh blood go across her lips.....

The scent trail led her to a trapped one, he seemed large and formidable, but trapped he was, and soon he'd be hers. Her grin large she prepared to attack.

Dante stared down at the... Munchkin... and cocked his head, then realized the bit about the berries and hopped off. "Oh! Uh... Sorry..." He stared at the thing for an awkward moment before turning to leave.

Before the Munchkin could protest, his posture and tail erected. He could faintly hear the muffled cries of... something... He groaned. Just his luck to be wandering around for days or weeks on end and all of the normal pokemon within a three-mile radius come crashing in...

He carefully made his way to the source of the noise, where he found a frozen Mega-Death-Bunny and something that looked very dead. He snarled, his fur standing on end. Good... another stupid zombie to take out his frustrations on.

He let out a flamethrower, but instead of hitting the Undead, it hit the Mega Bunny from Hell's ice coffin, melting the ice around the monster's arm and face. He blew out more smoke and threw his head around, flaunting his grand horns. "Come on, you boiled bastard! Come and get this!"

As he tried to lead the Infected away, he called out, "Hey, Munchkin! Get the Zoid or whatever out of the ice!" He blew small tongues of fire out at the Infected, drawing it away from the iced creature.

Molasses huffed, watching the Houndoom pounce off towards the infected Absol. "My name's Molasses, not Munchkin!" He shouted toward the Dark Pokemon, but followed his orders and turned toward the one trapped in ice. It was a bulky purple... dinosaur thing that puzzled the Munchlax. Molasses figured this Pokemon had to be in one of the last few chapters of the Universe of Pokemon, a book written by the world famous Professor Oak. He shrugged. The Munchlax could fret over these things later.

"Here we go!" Molasses threw a Fire Punch at the remaining ice covering the huge Pokemon, feeling the flames covering his fist sizzle with the melting ice. Proud of his achievement, he got a good look at the newly-freed Dino. The ice's reflection made the purple Pokemon seem much smaller; now that it was out, Molasses could easily see the lean muscles and powerful feet. Oh! The Munchlax had been frozen once, by a Froslass, and the experience chilled his bones, rendering him useless to fight. Molasses took out an Aspear berry, holding it out to the foreign Pokemon. "Hey Dino, eat this. It'll help with the frost."

    Strix heard something coming.
    Okay, gotta be ready!
He clenched his jaws hard, preparing for the worst.
Muffled growling came from his left, and a sudden burst of hot flames; melting the top portion of the ice block.
He nearly toppled over, gasping for air. His vision was blurry from being trapped in there for so long, but he managed to make out a large canine with large horns, breathing fire in the other direction.
"Come on, you boiled bastard! Come and get this!” The large black canine howled as he ran by. He then realized that he was using himself as bait for an infected that must have been nearby, because Strix certainly wasn't able to chase him, nor was he covered in boils.
He shook himself and hurriedly punched the rest of the ice that kept his other half bound to the floor, but a little mini-Snorlax came waddling up and used a fire punch on the ice, melting it completely. He then proceeded to offer a berry.
"Hey Dino, eat this. It'll help with the frost."

Tilting his head in confusion over the sudden appearance and generosity of this mini, he warily took the berry and popped it his mouth with his claw. The little thing was right; it did help with the shivers and numbness. He shook himself again, then patted the mini-Snorlax’ head in thanks, as shards of ice fell off of his heavy scales.
“Thanks little one. Now let’s go help your friend,” he said with a deep, gritty voice.
The large canine had run off into the caverns brawling with something. Strix quickly stomped towards the direction of the growling and hissing, anxious and giddy for a fight. The grin on his face grew larger and his eyes narrowed as he readied his monstrous claws for a battle.
The fire that the larger pokemon was using was lighting up the caverns, making it easy for the Nidoking to see where he was going. As he ran, he looked back to see if the mini-Snorlax was following.

Her meal was disrupted, another alive one, one colored black and red with horns came and tried to burn. She lept out of the way, but the burn hit the trapped meal and he was nearly freed.

Anger, anger at lost food. She turned toward the creature that had caused her anger and let out a roar. More smoke came from the alive one's mouth.

"Come on, you boiled bastard! Come and get this!"

She didn't understand, she didn't care. He had taken away her meal and she was hungry.

"Disaster.... I bring.... Disaster..." Her horn glowed white and she shot out a razor wind.

The theif began to run, She followed him continuing to shoot out attacks as she did. She continued to groan and growl in anger. Her dead eyes never leaving the hound.

When she was finally close enough she tried to use Bite.

Alice stumbled through the dark caverns of the Ice Path. She didn't mind the dark at all, but this cold really bothered her electric-blue coat. The little Shinx was searching for a place to lie down for a while when she heard voices and several loud noises not that far away. Her curiousity was peaked, and even though danger was staring Alice right in the face, she followed after the foreign sounds. Alice knew it had to be Infected, and she did not want to meet any of them, but if they were fighting, that could mean other surviving Pokemon were around. Alice refused to let this chance slip past her, and the Flash Pokemon picked up the pace.

Alice arrived in time to see the giant black-dog leading a white-dog somewhere. Alice could tell the white one was Infected, the signs were noticeable, and the little Shinx turned her head to see a giant purple beast and a little round blue thing. Alice didn't recognize what they all were, but she shrank into the shadows, her heart pounding and eyes glowing from both terror and excitement. She wanted to come out and help, but wanted to make sure they weren't going to be hostile towards Alice.

Akina stalked carefully through the dark, cold cave appropriately dubbed the Ice Path. She knew the outer area well, because she used to live there. She had come here in hopes of finding sanctuary, but as soon as she got there, an infected Rhydon had chased her in and sealed the entrance shut accidentally. After wandering around for a while, she turned up here, lost in this maze-like cavern.

The fur on Akina's back bristled at every little sound. Exploring here was so unnerving. She didn't mind the cold, but she very much disliked this dark. She hates not being able to see where she's going or what is around her. It's so easy to get ambushed by an infected if you don't pay attention...

An unusual sound caught Akina's attention. Infected? No, it can't be... Infected can't speak... She looked around the corner to see a large group of other pokemon... Uninfected pokemon. There were about 5 of them, too! The only two she recognized were a Munchlax and a Shinx, common contest pokemon. The others looked quite strong, good battlers. The odd one out was a white one with a blade on its head... It looked infected... The Shinx seemed to be hiding, but at the angle Akina was at, she could see it fine... Who are these pokemon?

It was gaining on him, this stupid white thing... The ice was slippery for his dull claws and pads. That Infected, however, had sharp claws that dug into the ice and snow, allowing it to advance. He turned to see the white death's maw agape, aimed for him. In his panic, he let loose a flamethrower point blank at the thing's face, then jumped over its stunned body and ran the other way to the other pokemon.

He found the purple dino-rabbit and the Munchkin, but could smell others within the vicinity. Damn! He shouldn't have been so noisy... Fearing it was more Infected, he snatched them by the scruff of their neck and tossed them into the middle of the small semi-circle of uninfected pokemon for interrogation.

The frightening intruders were... two kitty cats...

"Goddammit!" Dante cursed, letting out a snarl as he thrashed his horns in frustration. "Can I not go anywhere without some sort of freaking puff ball coming out at me?! Who the hell are you? You know what-- nevermind. I couldn't care less. I'm getting out of here before that other Infected comes back and tries to take a chunk out of my ass. Now, give me one good reason why I should believe you wouldn't do the same or I'll chomp your freaking faces off. Got it?!"

"Now, give me one good reason why I should believe you wouldn't do the same or I'll chomp your freaking faces off. Got it?!"

Molasses flinched at the roaring voice of the Houndoom, but nonetheless passed Dino and hurried toward him. He was snarling at two, obviously harmless, cat-like Pokemon, threatening to eat their faces. It took a second for the Munchlax to come upon the decision that the two, a Shinx and a Skitty, might possibly be infected, as was the Absol a few yards away. When did the Ice Path suddenly grow hot and steamy with intensity? The Big Eater Pokemon slowly veered closer to the big Houndoom. He may not know his name, but Molasses figured that the Doom Hound was at least not threatening him. The Munchlax gulped quietly, enjoying the taste of his honey-like saliva, before turning back to the situation at hand. He wasn't really sure exactly if the question pertained to him also.

"Was that directed at me too?" Molasses asked slowly, looking up to the Houndoom. He kneaded his hands together, an Ice Punch gathering on his left and a Fire Punch on his other, to create a sizzling sound that, for some reason, calmed Molasses. The Munchlax glanced towards the Skitty, as well as the Shinx, keeping close mind of the positively infected Absol behind him.

The pink cat had an unnerving scar along the bridge of her nose- would that be the cause of her infection and her doom? The Skitty, Molasses noted, had some sort of ribbon tied around her ear; surely that would mean that she was not diseased? The undead probably wouldn't mind of fashion sense, and if they did, they would try and fix their broken limbs and all that gross stuff. He scratched his chin in thought. The Shinx looked like any other of her kind, with the exception of the Everstone hanging around her neck. "You know, Doom Hound, they don't seem... very dead to me." Molasses looked back towards Dino and the most definitely dead Absol. Such a big crowd... not even my regular feasts could feed all these mout- now's not the time, Molasses.

Strix’s large ears picked up the sound of a flamethrower as the light of the fire lit up the walls of the cavern. The clicking and scraping of claws on ice approached them. The Nidoking slowed his pace, in case the approaching pokemon was the infected. A large black canine appeared from around the corner and started to cautiously sniff the air. The horned creature was obviously a Houndoom; he had seen one in battle before; very vicious and very powerful…he was also completely distracted from the fact that he had just come from a fight with an infected.
Strix narrowed his gaze at the cavern entrance from where the Houndoom had just fled from. Infected don’t give up the hunt that easily, and he doubted the flamethrower he had heard earlier finished the job.
The Houndoom was raging about something, as he tossed a few tiny pokemon into the center of the path, from out of the recesses of the cave.
    Puff balls, indeed.
There sat a little pink cat with a rag on his ear and a Shinx, both looking rather frightened and confused as they stared at the faces surrounding them.
They didn’t look infected, but Strix wondered if this serendipitous (and somewhat mismatched) group should stay together. It was rare, afterall, to find uninfected pokemon…he had encountered nothing but corpses and braindead monsters on his way here…but the majority being rather young and unevolved, they might just slow him down. He needed to find the professor as quickly as possible and get back to Tullie.
He felt a pang of guilt as he thought of what might happen to the young ones if he just left them…
Returning from his thoughts, he heard the mini-Snorlax trying to reason with the Houndoom about the newcomers- his attention was now focused on the cold entrance and the echoing walls, as he tried to separate the sounds from his party and the sounds of…anything else.
Snorting in annoyance, he let out a low bellow.
“Quiet, everyone! We can’t bicker like whiny bitches right now; we have an infected in the vicinity.” He sneered as he glared at the Houndoom.
Glancing down at the small ones, he quickly noted their chances at surviving.
“You, little Snorlax; don’t turn your back on the enemy…ever.” Strix grumbled as he gently turned the Munchlax around with his long tail.
It's time to get some payback.
His rage was building as he thought how helpless he was, stuck in that ice.
"Come on, you bastard, I know you're out there..." he growled under his breath, bristling with anger.

"AIIIIIEEEEEE!" She screeched as the flames burnt her flesh. The infected rolled and withered in the snow as she tried to make the flames go away, screeching in confusion as she did so.

The undead stood up, looking at her burnt flesh through one open eye. She licked her leg and then in a second of rage she bit into her flesh tearing it out. There was no blood as she made a small meal out of herself. Ripping and chewing in hunger. But she wanted more.... Wasn't there more food around here?

She heard the live ones and her memory returned, and the thought of making a meal out of the uninfected.... she rose....

    "Disaster...an come...am come...come... come..." she hissed.

Picking herself up, she followed where the black hound scent led her. Back to the live ones. A purple one yelled, making her angrier, sight became harder.

The black hound... she hated him... hate hate... hate for what..... she didn't know... all she knew was hate... that's all there ever was. At least she thought so, but there was doubt that wasn't thought about.

More yelling from the live ones, most coming from the hound. The hated hound, hate... why? The questions made her angrier and hungrier and she growled.

She leapt, a Dark Pulse emitting from her as she attacked.

    "I ....bring.... Disaster!"

Now, give me one good reason why I should believe you wouldn't do the same or I'll chomp your freaking faces off. Got it?!"

Alice was furious when the Houndoom threatened them; obvously they weren't infected or they probably wouldn't attacked the stupid hellhound right then and there!
"Are you blind? If we were Infected, we would've attacked you!" the Shinx snapped in irritation, not stopping to think this beast had the upper-hand in size, strength and experience.
"Let's just focus on the Infected trying to kill us right now!" Alice growled, knowing the white beast would return for them...Infected didn't give up too easily, Alice knew for a fact. That infected Lopunny had given Alice her head injury...it hadn't quit too easily, and the jagged scar on Alice's head would remind her of this forever. The Shinx quickly shook those thoughts out of her mind; now was not the time nor the place to be caught up in the past. The young Pokemon began to concentrate electricity for a Discharge attack, her body beginning to softly glow.

"Can I not go anywhere without some sort of freaking puff ball coming out at me?!" Akina heard the black dog yell. She was infuriated at the statement. 'Puff ball my ASS!' she thought. She looked around and noticed that the large purple one and the Munchlax were staring at her. 'It looks like it's going to take a while to earn the respect of these guys. Figures.'

Akina glared at the raging puppy, irritated at the insults. "Now, give me one good reason why I should believe you wouldn't do the same or I'll chomp your freaking faces off, got it?!" He screeched. Every word from the hound made Akina even angrier. She looked towards the Shinx to see how it was taking the hound's anger, and noticed that it was poised to attack and glowing faintly. Akina could tell from the rage in its eyes that it didn't like this either. She focused her attention and readied a powerful Wake-up Slap.

"What makes you think a little puff ball would harm you?" Akina said sarcastically. 'Good, I have something to take out all of my frustrations on.'

Dante was about to snap back to the pokemon shouting at him when the white Infected burst out, a dark pulse exploding out from its body. It didn't hurt him, but the others he wasn't so sure about. He saw the purple mecha-rabbit bristle with fury and then temporarily blinded the white Infected with a sludge bomb.

"All right, angry guy," he said, turning to the giant purple people eater, "I have a little cove to take the others to. Kill this thing, or break its legs or whatever, and meet us back at the ice flow river. The rest of you," he said, turning to the others, "we need to get the hell out of here."

He picked up the Munchkin by the scruff of the neck, then began to run, sort of keeping a mild pace for the younger ones to keep up. Though he didn't really want the company -especially with how the others snapped at him- but at this point, there really wasn't a choice. They would probably follow anyway...

After a grueling road to the river, he turned to the others and growled as he spat out the Munchkin, "You all know how to swim, right?"

Molasses was baffled as the Houmdoom carried him away by his neck, the Skitty and Shinx close behind. The Munchlax felt warm inside, despite the freezing temperatures; a big group of living Pokemon? It's almost as if Arceus heard my pleas! The Doom Hound dropped him next to the other two, and faced them.

"You all know how to swim, right?"

The Munchlax nodded confidently. He didn't like getting his fur wet, but it seemed urgent enough that wet fur was nothing compared to lives at stake. Molasses glanced back towards the place where Dino was fighting off the infected Absol. I sure hope he'll make it out alive. But Molasses shook the thought out; Dino's tough looks weren't just for show and tell. Surely he would make it out alright? The Big Eater Pokemon braced himself for the freezing currents of water. Focus on the present and ponder later.

“Kill this thing, or break its legs or whatever, and meet us back at the ice flow river.” The Houndoom barked, as he motioned to the infected.
The Nidoking nodded and watched the others flee.
Maybe he’s wiser than I thought, he mused as the hound picked up the mini-Snorlax by the scruff and motioned for the others to follow.
Strix cracked his neck and readied a shadow claw as he faced his opponent.
The drill pokemon stomped to the center of the cave, blocking the way the others went with his massive body, the darkness crackling around his claws like electricity.
“Alright, you nasty motherfucker, it’s time to dance!” Strix growled. The infected Absol was running towards him at full speed, ready to sink its’ fangs into living flesh.

The beast screeched as her vision was obscured by something. She scratched at her eyes getting rid of it but at the same time causing herself unfelt wounds. When she could see again her prey was gone. She growled and snarled in anger and hunger. She spotted movement of the food and tried to chase it but the purple not any more meal got in her way.

The white beast yelled in anger shaking her head the sludge flying off, but along with it dead bits came off. She glared at the purple live one and roared at him.

“Alright, you nasty motherfucker, it’s time to dance!”

"Dis..." "Kill" "..aster..." "me" ".. come...." A second voice seemed to break into her broken speach. It sounded pained and small, a spirit still clung onto the undead.

The absol didn't seem to notice her own words and charged right at the creature that blocked her from more blood. When she was close enough she leaped ready to tear into flesh and feed herself.

"You all know how to swim, right?"

Alice could've scoffed at the question, but she didn't say anything, just took a moment to prepare herself for the freezing waters of the river. This is not going to be pleasant. The Flash Pokemon braced herself then slid into the river. She gasped as the extremely low temperatures of the river nearly made her body go numb, but Alice had to keep swimming if she wanted to stay alive. Hopefully that purple beast will come back alive! Alice thought, now remembering him and how they left him behind to face that Infected white-dog. Now that she had companions, if you could call them that, Alice didn't want any of them to die.

"You all know how to swim, right?" Akina subconsciously nodded at the question, before realizing what it meant. What?! He can't think we're gonna go swimming in icy water?! That's stupid! We could die from hypothermia! The Skitty's thoughts were interrupted when she saw the shinx begin to wade into the water. She hesitated at the sight, looking back towards where the large, purple one was likely to be fighting the infected. Her mind raced.

Suddenly, an idea popped into her mind. She began to call the shinx back, before remembering that she didn't know it's name. She still called, "Hey, sh-shinx! Get back! Everyone, I have an idea. we don't need to swim. Watch!" A cyan blast of energy formed at her mouth and shot out across the water, forming an icy bridge. She continued the move and let the others cross, knowing that she would need to keep it supported.

Dante watched as the pink kitty made an ice bridge for the others to walk across. He continually looked behind him, waiting for either the purple thing or the undead to show up behind them.

He nosed the others to go before him, not wanting to really find out if they would be able to fend off the threat that nipped at their heels. Not that he cared if they lived or not, but if they went, that meant his back was exposed...

He went to Munchkin and stood in front of him. "Lead the others up the path ahead. You'll find a den there with a few supplies. Stay there until I get back. Make sure no one touches anything." He began to run off and then hollered over his shoulder, "And don't eat all my food!"
