Strix’s large ears picked up the sound of a flamethrower as the light of the fire lit up the walls of the cavern. The clicking and scraping of claws on ice approached them. The Nidoking slowed his pace, in case the approaching pokemon was the infected. A large black canine appeared from around the corner and started to cautiously sniff the air. The horned creature was obviously a Houndoom; he had seen one in battle before; very vicious and very powerful…he was also completely distracted from the fact that he had just come from a fight with an infected.
Strix narrowed his gaze at the cavern entrance from where the Houndoom had just fled from. Infected don’t give up the hunt that easily, and he doubted the flamethrower he had heard earlier finished the job.
The Houndoom was raging about something, as he tossed a few tiny pokemon into the center of the path, from out of the recesses of the cave.
Puff balls, indeed. There sat a little pink cat with a rag on his ear and a Shinx, both looking rather frightened and confused as they stared at the faces surrounding them.
They didn’t look infected, but Strix wondered if this serendipitous (and somewhat mismatched) group should stay together. It was rare, afterall, to find uninfected pokemon…he had encountered nothing but corpses and braindead monsters on his way here…but the majority being rather young and unevolved, they might just slow him down. He needed to find the professor as quickly as possible and get back to Tullie.
He felt a pang of guilt as he thought of what might happen to the young ones if he just left them…
Returning from his thoughts, he heard the mini-Snorlax trying to reason with the Houndoom about the newcomers- his attention was now focused on the cold entrance and the echoing walls, as he tried to separate the sounds from his party and the sounds of…anything else.
Snorting in annoyance, he let out a low bellow.
“Quiet, everyone! We can’t bicker like whiny bitches right now; we have an infected in the vicinity.” He sneered as he glared at the Houndoom.
Glancing down at the small ones, he quickly noted their chances at surviving.
“You, little Snorlax; don’t turn your back on the enemy…ever.” Strix grumbled as he gently turned the Munchlax around with his long tail.
It's time to get some payback. His rage was building as he thought how helpless he was, stuck in that ice.
"Come on, you bastard, I know you're out there..." he growled under his breath, bristling with anger.
