History:
Born to a renowned Zorua breeder living in Orre, Seneca was the runt of the litter. He was noticeably smaller and weaker than his siblings, but surprisingly, fared just as well, if not better than his strongest brothers when it came to food. The pup demonstrated his intellectual ability within weeks, using his cunning to keep himself well fed and every bit as healthy as his siblings. The breeder soon noticed Seneca’s potential, already experimenting with his illusory abilities only weeks after birth, and soon adopted him as a personal favourite. Whilst his siblings were gradually sold on to trainers across the regions, Seneca remained loyally at the breeder’s side, knowing that he was the special one. Out of his eight siblings, the young Zorua knew that he held something the others didn’t possess and that it had secured him permanent residence with a wise and loving human. Smug about his superiority, Seneca felt no loss for his disintegrating family – he was moving on to better things.
The Zorua spent the first few years of his life as a simple pet. The human had accumulated a large sum of money over his years of work as a breeder and of course, lavished his family with the luxuries only such wealth could afford. Seneca made the prestigious mansion his home, dining of the finest cuisine and receiving all the affection he could possibly ask for from the human’s children. Whilst the Zorua enjoyed the pampering and peace that family life provided, Seneca soon grew restless, becoming irritated at his restriction to the extravagant building he called home. The human soon noticed the change in his companion’s behaviour and began to train the Zorua in a bid to replenish his amiable personality.
Seneca took to battling like a duck on water. Whilst he was never physically strong, the canine used speed and tactics to secure countless victories. His illusions became increasingly lifelike, the Zorua a natural in toying with his opponents mind as he produced hideously effective images out of thin air. Surprised at the sheer talent of his pokémon, the human felt inspired to change his career path and delve into the world of pokémon battling. Whilst Seneca began more vigorous training, pushing himself to his limits to boost his levels and following a strict diet of vitamins, his human had begun plans to hold a monumental tournament, bringing together the region’s most elite battlers. The tournament would involve 12 pairs of pokémon pitted against each other in no-holds battle to victory, where one contestant would emerge victorious. With plenty of money to fuel the ambitious project, the human soon realized that were he to really evoke interest in the games, rules would have to be kept to a minimum. Whilst contestants were only required to defeat their opponents, unnecessary brutality and death were actively encouraged.
Seneca’s training soon paid off as he finally evolved into a Zoroark, soon alerted that he would play an integral part in his human’s tournament. Using his illusions, Seneca was required to fuel the battle. Forcing the contenders together in the small arena, launching illusory attacks into the fray to cause utter havoc with the battler’s minds and occasionally producing images of fallen opponents to further provoke the remaining contestants were all part of the job description. The Zoroark was delighted at the opportunity, learning a number of TMs to ensure maximum chaos for the upcoming games.
The first tournament was received with mixed reviews. Many slammed the games as barbaric and cruel following the deaths of half of the contestants, but the controversy sparked interest and competition in more ambitious trainers. Seneca had done his job perfectly – keeping the battle raging, triggering violence in moments of peace and keeping the audience firmly glued to the tournament. It was inevitable that over ten games followed, the opponents growing stronger and more brutal each year.
However, the final game was the most memorable. Now that news of the tournament had spread across the regions, a large amount of contestants were eager to partake in the monstrous battles – the only way the human saw fit was to hold auditions. Along with his human, Seneca was permitted to watch the potential contenders demonstrate their abilities, silently judging their strengths and scheming on how to expose their weaknesses in the games. Whilst the applicants were extremely mixed, the twenty-four selected came from all walks of life. The Zoroark held a vivid memory of a pair of felines – clear underdogs possessing a surprising determination to succeed – as well as a monster of a Steelix, Cato.
Throughout the tournament, Seneca would appear as usual to create his illusions, ensuring maximum destruction and interest for the growing audience. He was seldom seen in the arena, the contenders usually too busy protecting themselves from rampaging enemies, but his presence never went unnoticed. They knew he was in the mix, silently shaping the utter chaos and destruction that accompanied the annual games. Following a handful of gruesome deaths, only two pairs remained – the felines, Katniss and Peeta, and the Steelix paired with a quick-footed Weavile. Surprisingly, the Weavile was killed by the underdogs and the Steelix suffered a merciful defeat – leaving the two partners to battle between themselves. But something was wrong. Lurking on the outskirts of the battle, Seneca realized that neither would kill nor even consider hurting the other. Using illusions in a bid to fuel aggression, the Zoroark grew increasingly fearful of the extreme measures the pair would take; it was almost as if they wanted to prove a point. Suddenly, their intentions became apparent – they were going to commit suicide, together. Acting on instinct, Seneca ran into the midst of the arena, halting the proceedings to which an announcement that there would be two winners followed.
The audience were furious, the betters were furious, Seneca’s human was furious. The turn of events at such a fierce game were an embarrassment to the man, as previous supporters of the tournament condemned the intervention as a disappointing finale. The blame quickly fell onto Seneca. Intending to dispose of the unruly canine that effectively ‘destroyed’ the reputation of his tournament; the human set his prized pokémon on the Zoroark with orders to kill. Having only ever wanted to please his trainer, Seneca was devastated at the brutal punishment that followed. He was thrown around like a doll, falling unconscious for several minutes whilst his attackers tore lumps of his body. When he awoke, he soon realized that if he didn’t act soon, death would be inevitable. Struggling away from the trio of assassins, Seneca narrowly escaped with his life, managing to crawl out and fall from a nearby window.
The first week on the streets was the worst time of Seneca’s life. The attack had left him in a hideous state, only just clinging onto life as he spent days resting beneath a mound of rubbish, trying to recuperate his energy in safety. Constantly fearing retaliation from his human’s pokémon as well as past, surviving contenders, Seneca lived in fear, too weak to protect himself from the potential threats. What was more alarming for the canine was the loss of his illusory abilities. Having always relied on the gift to keep himself safe, a fierce blow to the head in battle had robbed the Zoroark of his powers to only worsen his chances of survival. Reduced to eating scraps of food found in the garbage that surrounded him, Seneca soon realized that he had to move on with his life. Swallowing his fear, he limped out of the streets to flee into the surrounding forest, managing to snatch a bag of supplies from an unsuspecting trainer. Raiding his theft for potions and berries, Seneca gradually built up his health before disappearing into the forest, determined to start afresh. Instead, he was greeted with the epidemic.
Disgusted at the hideous monsters that the virus produced, the Zoroark simply attempted to avoid contact with the creatures, concealing himself in foliage until the dangers had passed. Too physically weak to protect himself and robbed of his strongest talent, Seneca relied entirely on his wits and speed to ensure his survival – but it could only help him so far. After narrowly escaping a pair of infected Manectric, Seneca decided that were he to survive, he needed to join a group. Knowing that safety lies in numbers, the Zoroark has since travelled the region in search of fellow survivors.
Appearance:
Even as a pup, Seneca was smaller than average and remains almost a foot under the height that his species regularly reaches. Underweight from his time scavenging on the streets, Seneca’s ribs are often visible beneath his fur and the fact he usually walks on all fours highlights the visible bone structure, where his shoulder and hip bones protrude slightly. The canine walks with a significant limp that comes from a previous injury on his left, hind leg that he received in the attack after the final tournament. Whilst the wound has healed and causes him no pain, the leg still appears heavily scarred. Seneca’s body is littered in scars as well as a few cavernous wounds from where his flesh was ripped out; however, his thick, scraggly fur usually covers the worst of the damage.
Once a perfectly groomed, handsome zoroark, Seneca’s fur used to be in pristine condition with a glossy, elegant glimmer to it. His mane was always slicked back into a kind of sophisticated coif, but now, he is almost unrecognisable. A constant smell of garbage and blood follows the canine; his fur has become scruffy and matted in places where he has neglected his once flawless appearance. The combination of scraggly fur and bony body gives him a sickly, frail look that is only heightened by his limp and the fleeting glimpses of old wounds. Seneca looks like a stranger to what he once was, but holds a distinguishing, swirled facial marking that ensures past acquaintances will never forget him, or his scheming, icy gaze.
Personality:
Intelligent | Cunning | Malicious | Egotistical | Determined | Short-Tempered | Emotional | Scared | Misunderstood
A notable intelligence combined with sheer, natural cunning guaranteed Seneca’s success as the ‘Gamemaker’ of his human’s tournament. Considered to be nothing but a vile, arrogant beast by the less enthusiastic contenders, the Zoroark grew accustomed to the insults regularly thrown at him when his participation in the tournament was revealed. Words have no effect on him; the canine is far too used to verbal abuse from the unwilling participants and almost pleased at the effect his snide, callous words would have on them. Seneca actively enjoys tormenting and teasing others, relishing in the power he can have on their minds through both cruel words as well as his illusions. Now that his illusory abilities have been removed, Seneca only heightens his snappy, insulting remarks out of a need to protect himself. Pleased that he’s still a master of manipulating the emotions of other pokémon; Seneca uses this ability to its full potential for the simple reason of making him feel better about himself.
Undeniably arrogant, whilst Seneca’s appearance has vastly deteriorated since the attack, he still holds onto the flickers of superiority his past life presented. With a strong appreciation for the finer things in life, the Zoroark can be somewhat picky, but this trait has considerably deteriorated since living on the streets. He considers himself intellectually superior to almost everyone, priding himself on his wits and tactics to outsmart any opponents – but he recognises his weaknesses too, making sure to disguise them when necessary. His physical weakness and lack of illusory abilities has become the bane of the canine’s existence. Seneca grows infuriated at his loss of illusions, his temper flaring whenever he produces a flickering image despite his determination to re-learn the talent stolen from him. His willpower is admirable, but the remainder of his sadistic attitude usually overwhelms any potential to evoke pity. His temper, for instance, is particularly nasty. Seneca is usually a fairly calm, level-headed Zoroark, but when pushed to his limits, the emotional outburst that follows can be particularly violent. Whilst he would never actively seek out combat, his temper can get the better of him, launching him into situation where he would be lucky to scramble out alive.
Although Seneca is very physically lacking, one of the Zoroark’s pleasures comes from watching others battle. Extremely observant, the canine picks up on the most minute details and mistakes of fights, storing any notable tactics in his mind for future use. He’s not squeamish at all, preferring the battles to be bloody, brutal and chaotic. He feels little remorse for the fallen, condemning them as weak of both body and mind – somewhat hypocritical, but he insists that his intelligence and speed will ensure he will never join the deceased. Ultimately, he only cares for himself – he has never been close enough to another pokémon to value them as a friend or loved one.
Seneca is determined to hold up his usual charade of a calm, sophisticated, sadistic and manipulative git, but since the attack, the Zoroark has become almost cowardly. In times of extreme stress, the canine can be reduced to a babbling wreck, desperately trying to talk his way out of any physical damage. When threatened with violence, the Zoroark’s body subconsciously shakes; memories of the brutal attempt on his life flooding back to him. Whilst he keeps a straight face, reluctant to be reduced to tears, Seneca is utterly terrified of death and pain. Having already lost his ability to create illusions, the Zoroark is incredibly fearful of losing both his intelligence and whatever physical strength he has left. Uncomfortable in the presence of powerful pokémon, Seneca feels the need to prove his worth and so, the nasty side of his attitude flourishes as he no longer has an authoritative status to hide behind.
User Note;
- Knows Finnick the Milotic and Haymitch the Marowak (Silverishness) and Cato the Steelix (Cyan Cat) from their participation in the tournament.
- Due to a previous head injury, Seneca struggles to produce convincing illusions. Having previously been a master with his ability, the Zoroark grows infuriated at the quality of the flickering, often blurry images that his masterpieces have been reduced to.
- When threatened with physical violence, Seneca’s body subconsciously shakes out of fear. He was traumatized by his human’s death attempt on him and instinctively flinches away from others who reach out to touch him, aggressively or otherwise.
- Based off Seneca Crane from ‘The Hunger Games’. <3

History;
Hatched by an amateur breeder who was utterly shocked at the striking blue colouration of the Vulpix, Caesar spent the first years of his life in the possession of the human who hatched him. Never knowing his father, the shiny was raised through the joint effort of his biological mother and the human’s family. Always lavished with attention, the child grew happy and healthy, domesticated over the years as he caught the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. Simply too adorable to dislike, Caesar grew into an optimistic young canine with an incredible love for the world around him. However, the peace had to come to an end. The family’s financial situation forced them to put the shiny up for sale and whilst the goodbyes were sad, Caesar was comforted in the fact that his departure would ensure his family would live in luxury.
Purchased by a television host in Johto, Caesar was soon introduced to a whole new world of stardom, extravagance and endless social events. The man, Stanley, although not hugely well-known, presented the region’s breakfast show – a local celebrity as he was hailed a rising star in the industry. Smitten by the blue Vulpix, he and Caesar developed a powerful, virtually unbreakable bond over the years that followed. Never shying away from the countless visitors the human opened his doors to, the canine was always eager to meet new people, curling up on the laps of the rich and famous the moment they took a seat. However, it was the equivalent of his early teens that Caesar’s life took the first step from pampered pet to international celebrity.
A change of situation meant Stanley was forced to bring Caesar with him to work, the Vulpix left in the arms of the camera crew whilst the man took up his duty on stage. The humans were immediately smitten by the pup and soon, bosses were urging the presenter to continue the show with the fire-fox sat on his lap. Although Caesar slept through his television debut, the blue canine captured the hearts of the entire region in that hour and was soon made a regular on the show – a partner to his cheerful owner. Whilst he was rarely required to do anything much, Caesar’s pleasant disposition and cutesy appearance was enough to boost the ratings over the two years that followed. But even with such success, both Stanley and Caesar were ready to move onto greater things.
In the years that followed, Caesar’s reputation continued to grow as he travelled the regions, working in the television industry alongside his beloved owner. The human hopped from job to job, bringing the shiny along with him as the pup developed an identity for himself, companies soon commissioning him for advertisements and even his own one-off series aimed at a child audience. The canine was always happy to oblige, obedient to his human as he simply relished in the chance to meet thousands of people just as happy to meet him. He brought in hoards of money for Stanley, life as a pokémon actor ensuring that the duo were never without a couple million to spare. But Caesar’s true passion remained solely with interviews. It was a chat show that had set him on his feet and he constantly strived to make permanent residence on a programme of a similar type. But for now, Caesar was happy to experiment in all walks of life. Rubbing shoulders with the world’s biggest names and best friends with the pokémon of royalty, the canine’s connections spanned across the globe as he aged into an instantly recognisable face, even releasing his own brand of shampoo. Surprisingly, fame never corrupted him. In his teenage years, he would always make the most of the beautiful women surrounding him, the materialistic goods his fortune could buy – but never did he lose his spritely personality. Always a pleasure to work with, the canine was adored by legions of diehard fans.
When offered an extremely lucrative deal in Orre, Stanley was quick to leap at the offer and Caesar gladly accompanied him. ‘The Games’ as they were known was a recent phenomenon, a grand tournament in which twenty-one pokémon were left in an arena to fight for victory. Whilst it wasn’t necessary, death was actively encouraged – a key part of what made the battles so irresistible to competitive trainers across the globe. It was Stanley and Caesar’s job to interview the contestants before the games, get to know them and give the hundreds of betters a chance to distinguish the frontrunners. Once the barbaric battles had ceased, a grand celebration was held in the victors’ name – the presenters again required to host what should be a truly unforgettable event. Whilst the Vulpix remained optimistic, always ecstatic to meet all the talented youths involved in the show, it wasn’t until he witnessed the games firsthand did he realize what he had become a part of. Disgusted at the brutality of the tournament, Caesar grew sick with guilt at knowing he was sending countless pokémon to an early grave for the sake of the human’s entertainment. Eager to escape the contract, the canine’s hopes were dashed at Stanley’s desire to remain. His owner loved the games, thought them exciting as he watched eagerly with the rest of the region, soon signing on to remain a permanent addition to the extravagant event. Caesar had no choice. Whilst he presented the world with a faultless smile and an eccentric optimism, he was slowly dying inside.
Over the long years that followed, the blue canine became aloof off stage, a stranger to the peppy canine he’d been as he spent hours in his own company. The shame of knowing the fates of these talented youngsters made him feel sick, crushing his spirit whilst he persevered to give the battlers at least some shred of hope. He met hundreds of contenders over time, always overjoyed to converse with the bright-eyed youths as he heaped on the compliments, the support and the reassurance. He never had the heart to tell them what awaited them, instead focusing his efforts on giving them the best possible send-off. Whilst never religious, Caesar would always pray that more than one life would be spared.
In time, the fire-type became rebellious. A firm distrust building for Stanley and all the other humans involved in the games, Caesar soon took to offering the contestants advice, trips for survival whilst he betrayed strategies of the organizers. He kept his cheery persona intact, the audience seeing no change in the fox, but the canine had grown wise beyond his years, his innocence forever stained by the sights that accompanied the tournament. Intent on preserving the lives of those unfortunate enough to be mixed up in the macabre situation, Caesar would always try to stay in contact with victors – using his fame to ensure they never went hungry or abused, that they could live in luxury to help blot out the pain. But of course, his kindly deeds didn’t go entirely unnoticed. Whilst most of his colleagues remained oblivious, human and pokémon alike, one Zoroark was always keen to give him trouble. Seneca was the Gamemaker – his job to create as much havoc and death in the arena as possible – and didn’t take kindly to having his secrets ‘slipping out’. It was only verbal threats and whilst Caesar never enjoyed talking to the arrogant canine, he would always try to persuade him that there was so much more to life. Considering him a misguided boy simply in need of a friend, the Vulpix would always try and fail to bring Seneca to his way of thinking. In the end, the pair made the effort to simply avoid one another.
The epidemic hit a few years later, monstrous creatures soon multiplying across the land. However, the Games did not stop. The creator of the tournament, unwilling to sacrifice his greatest achievement, soon introduced undead to the battlefield. Caesar lost it. Appalled that the tournament continued and worst, that audiences still gathered, the Vulpix resigned, unwilling to participate any further. Knowing he should have made a stand years earlier, the canine couldn’t fathom why humans would chose to throw their companions, pets, into a clearly unwinnable battle. Stanley too saw the truth, quitting the job as he and Caesar boarded the next ship out of the region. Fearful of the monsters, the shiny began an amount of training on board in a bid to provide at least some protection against the undead swarming the land. Unfortunately, it was too little too late. The ship was attacked by undead, Tentacruel’s snapping the vessel clean in half whilst the humans fell helpless to the ravenous jaws of the aquatic beasts .Those who survived were left to drown. Despite all the odds, Caesar found himself drifting away from the chaos, draped over a plank of wood. Although injured and hideously scarred by the sight, the Vulpix survived the catastrophe to eventually wash up on the shores of Citadark Isle.
Appearance;
Smaller than the average Vulpix with a healthy weight leaning towards the plump side, Caesar has an appearance almost unaltered by the epidemic world around him. Lacking muscle and overall physical strength, the canine possesses an undeniably cutesy appearance, his signature smile always keen to brighten his handsome face. Of course, this smile has been seldom seen since the virus’ arrival. His luminous yellow eyes instead hold a newfound determination.
With a shiny colouration, Caesar boasts a pale blue pelt, white underbelly and striking, instantly recognisable electric blue head tuff and tails. Groomed to a picture of perfection, the canine sports a chic coif which has survived startling well given the circumstances. His fur velvety smooth, it is easy to see that the Vulpix has been pampered his entire life, but is surprisingly humble in concerns to his appearance. He’s taking little regard for his appearance now that he’s permanently abandoned screens across the region and places an emphasis on surviving.
Personality;
Guilty | Optimistic | Non-Confrontational | Physically Weak | Sympathetic | Caring | Social | Gentlemanly | Polite
Caesar, whilst usually thought of as nothing but a charismatic and eccentric celebrity, is in fact a thoroughly misunderstood individual. Hidden beneath the faultless surface, the Vulpix harbours a great guilt that is slowly tearing him apart. Such vulnerability remains unsaid and unseen, but with the epidemic effectively cutting him away from the cheery persona he’d embraced all his life, his true emotions have begun to surface. Deeply shamed for his participation in The Games, Caesar despises himself. Whilst he wasn’t directly involved in the deaths of numerous contestants, in fact one of few striving to help them, the shiny is disgusted to know he was endorsing such bloodshed. Almost dead inside, knowing full well of the mistakes he’d made in the past and haunted by the ghosts of those he feels he let down, there is a lot more to Caesar than people think.
Incredibly optimistic, Caesar’s positivity has always functioned as a defence mechanism. Keen to avert all hostility and confrontation, the canine is essentially a peaceful creature striving to make peace with the demons of his past. Physically weak having had only minimal training, the canine’s greatest strength is his amiable personality. Extremely difficult to upset or anger, it is as equally hard to dislike the fox. Reared into the perfect celebrity, humble and always charming despite an international fame, Caesar is genuinely a nice guy. Thoughtful, considerate and sympathetic, the Vulpix is a charitable individual who does nothing but give. Money means nothing to him; fame merely a side-effect of meeting and befriending countless people across the world.
Undeniably quite the chatterbox, Caesar’s on-screen persona is significantly heightened in comparison to his natural behaviour. Whilst presented on televisions as the lovable eccentric, excited about everything, the Vulpix isn’t quite as joyous in reality. Although still a peppy and social individual, Caesar has been fatigued by the burden of his guilty past, his winning smile a rare sight in these days. Past his melancholy air, the shiny remains characteristically polite, a true gentleman whose charm has only grown more refined with age.
User Note;
- Caesar was never evolved due to his identity as a regional celebrity. His striking blue colouration instantly recognisable, the Vulpix’s human feared triggering the evolution in case the canine’s new appearance drastically altered to the fox everyone was already familiar with. Caesar never particularly minded, taking pride in his looks despite a rather small stature.
- Caesar is very much a canine with two distinct personalities. His identity as a regional celebrity has led him to uphold a charming, bubbly persona when sharing his company, but in solitude, his true state is revealed. Hideously ashamed of his past, the Vulpix hates himself for not being able to escape his participation in The Games and uses his positivity as a defence mechanism to shield the world from his own self-loathing. He’s under the impression that he has to hide his true identity to be accepted by the world.
- Knows Finnick the Milotic and Haymitch the Marowak (Silverishness) and Cato the Steelix (Ciana) from their participation in The Games. He never forgets a face and has fond memories of the individuals before they entered the ring, heartbroken at the creatures they emerged as. He also knows Seneca the Zoroark, the Gamemaker over the years that Caesar worked on the show. He never particularly liked his colleague, but instead pitied him, saddened that the illusion-fox didn't realize he was nothing more than a puppet. Caesar had no idea what happened to him after the year with two victors, simply told that he’d ‘disappeared’.
- Based off the character of Caesar Flickerman from ‘The Hunger Games’ books and film adaptations.
