History | Jerome was born in Unova like most of his kind, but unlike the other Pawniard that were birthed into the pack, this one was the subject of great discussion and debate. It was the first time any of them had ever seen a blue Pawniard, and many of the elders were confused and disturbed by his birth, some of the more superstitious ones believing him to be an omen of bad luck. Needless to say, Jerome suffered from a lot of prejudice as he was growing up, mostly from his peers, who relentlessly bullied him. As such, Jerome spent a lot of his youth in solitude, where he was safe from their taunts and jeers. The young Pawniard despised his life, and how badly he was being treated just because of his different colour. Slowly but strongly, a hatred began to grow for the pack he'd been born into. By the time he was a teenager, Jerome decided that he had had enough of being a freak, and left the pack without a word of goodbye, not even to his parents. He began to travel Unova, not really sure whether he was looking for a place where he could be accepted, or just somewhere he could be alone. It seemed, however, that it wasn't just his own kind that marvelled at his colouration - any humans he stumbled across we're bewildered as well, and he had to narrowly avoid capture on several occasions. Eventually deciding that solitude was best, Jerome found a home in a cave near to Driftveil City, where he battled against the wild Pokemon within to get stronger. As the years passed, Jerome's anger and hatred for his pack grew, some of the memories being too humiliating to bear. Feeling that a score was to be settled, Jerome set out for home as a fully evolved Bisharp, ready to fight for leadership and get the respect he felt he deserved. Upon returning home, everybody was shocked to see him. Jerome wasted no time in pleasantries, and immediately demanded to meet with the pack leader. His request was granted, and he was stunned to find out that the leader was now Akuma, one of the worst of his childhood bullies. More determined than ever to deliver some payback, Jerome challenged Akuma to a battle for leadership, which his old enemy gladly accepted. The two Bisharp battled fiercely, each determined to settle a score with each other. After what seemed like hours, both warriors appeared to be tiring. Jerome charged forward to deliver the final blow to the apparently weakened Akuma, but the bully had only feigned his fatigue and struck Jerome down with a powerful Iron Head, defeating him. Disgraced, Jerome was forced to leave yet again, listening to Akuma's harsh laugh as he limped away, knowing that leadership and, indeed, respect, was something he was never going to achieve here. Pride ripped to shreds by his defeat in front of everybody, Jerome fell into a despair. It took a long time for his wounds to recover, but as soon as they did he left Unova. He travelled to Sinnoh, where once again he lived in seclusion, too ashamed to show his face to anybody. He could spend days on end inside Mt Coronet, constantly thinking about his loss, what he'd done wrong and how unfair everything was. The Bisharp grew bitter and cold, resenting others without judgement. One day, the summer following his defeat, Jerome wandered outside to gather more food after nearly two weeks indoors. As he picked berries, he was ambushed by a madly aggressive Floatzel. Caught off guard by the vicious attack, Jerome was knocked to the ground as he struggled to keep the Floatzel's snapping jaws away from his face. Taking a look at his attacker, he was bewildered to see that it's fur and skin were rotting away, and it had mad glowing eyes. It sounded crazy, but Jerome realised at that point that he was fighting a zombie. He managed to overpower the beast and decapitate it, but this revelation had left him shaken and confused. He decided to see if he could seek out any other survivors to find out more about what he was up against. Jerome eventually made it to Canalave City, where he finally met a group of living Pokemon. After a shaky start - several of them were killed by the undead, and one such attack left most of the city in ruin - he almost started to feel that this was a time to try and forget his bitterness, and to work together to survive in this dangerous new world. One of the survivors he had met was a young Pawniard called Courtney, who looked up to him as a father figure and did not prejudice him over his colour. Slowly but surely, his new allies began to soften his heart and remind him of what was important now: teamwork and survival. They decided that there was nothing left for them in Canalave now that it was mostly in ruin, so Jerome started leading them to Jubilife City for supplies. On the way, however, they were ambushed by a swarm of undead Combee. They were easily taken care of, but their queen Vespiquen was another matter. Jerome took it upon himself to kill the monster after she had injured Courtney, and the two hacked and slashed at one another until Jerome eventually decapitated the beast. He was unaware, however, that some of the Vespiquen's contaminated blood had seeped into the wound on his belly, infecting him with the virus. The group eventually made it to Jubilife, where they got to work in treating his and Courtney's wounds. Jerome was unprepared for just how badly Courtney was injured, and watched in horror as she passed away. Cradling her body and sobbing, Jerome felt himself beginning to break. Courtney had been so innocent and sweet, and had treated him with the kindness he'd always yearned for. Namdnas the Gengar prepared a funeral pyre for her, and Jerome could not watch as her body was burned, hating himself for failing to protect her. Unable to pull himself together after Courtney's death, and beginning to suffer from the pain of his own wound, Jerome dazedly followed the others to the Poke Mart to gather medicine for his own wound. An attack from a Cryogonal resulted in the death of Namdnas, leaving Jerome with a deaf Vaporeon and an Umbreon he didn't even know. He was in despair, in pain and ready to give up ... until the Purge warped him to an unfamiliar part of the region: the Great Marsh. |
Appearance | The only thing that distinguishes Jerome from other Bisharp is his sky blue skin; otherwise, there is nothing unusual about his appearance. Jerome has recently acquired a wound on his belly, which is struggling to heal up due to it being where he became infected. It is almost constantly bleeding, and will eventually start to discolour as the infection spreads. |
Personality | Jerome has no idea what he wants. While on the outside he appears to be cold and serious, somewhere on the inside is a part of him that just wants to be accepted and liked by others. He constantly tells himself otherwise, but his tendency to become emotionally attached to anybody who shows him genuine kindness betrays this facade. This does not happen very often though, and whenever Jerome is faced with Pokemon who are unkind or otherwise indifferent to him, he can be very difficult to get along with. The Bisharp is a very lonely soul, preferring solitude over all else. He is very secretive and private, becoming defensive if anybody even tries to ask him a question about him or his life. When in the company of others, he will use any opportunity to try and gain their approval. But he does not do this by being generous or wise - he does it in battle. When fighting, Jerome is relentlessly aggressive, and will defeat his enemies with savage ferocity. He believes that all respect comes from one's strength and nobility, and dismisses anything else as a waste of time. To him, losing a battle, especially when there are witnesses, is the ultimate humiliation. Jerome is extremely irritable and easy to anger, often snapping at others when there is really no reason to. He dislikes laziness and anyone who is easy-going, never finding time to relax himself. Jerome is restless and does not like to stay in one place for too long, or go for a length of time not doing anything which he deems productive, such as searching for survival essentials or battling. Jerome is often quite jumpy and tense, leading him to panic about the smallest of things. His low self-esteem regularly intervenes with his daily routines, and he has spent many an hour in solitude beating himself up about things. Besides battling and proving his worth, there is one more thing that makes Jerome feel good about himself: being in charge. If there is an opportunity for him to become a leader, he will take it. Jerome is currently unsure whether he would make a good leader or not, but he is always willing to try. He is a little worried that his need to be superior at least once in his life will cause him to become corrupt and cruel, but he tells himself that there is only one way to find out. If a group already has a leader, Jerome will not challenge them for superiority but will always be looking for an opening for him to take the spot instead. Gaining Jerome's trust and respect is a difficult task, but if one should succeed they see a completely different side to him. Only one Pokemon has ever gained that trust, and it was Courtney the Pawniard. Towards those he trusts, Jerome is protective until the end, and loyal without question, even going so far as to risk his life for them. Now, after Courtney's death, obtaining Jerome as a friend is harder still, the Bisharp afraid to make any new friends in case he lets them down again. |
User Notes | --Currently, Jerome has no idea that he is infected, and due to his typing it will take a while for him to start turning. The discolouration of his wound, however, will appear quicker, and the pain will start to numb. |
