History | Arthur's earliest memories are of being in a Pokemon Lab in New Bark Town and happily playing with his two friends, Chikorita and Cyndaquil. He never knew his parents but didn't mind that since the professor took very good care of him and his friends and they were free to play and explore in any way they pleased. One morning, a teenage boy called Elijah turned up at the lab, looking for a Pokemon. He came from a wealthy family and was rather spoiled; Arthur didn't like him very much from the moment he saw him. To the Totodile's disappointment, Elijah chose him to become his starter Pokemon and he was shut inside a Poke Ball before he could even say goodbye to his friends. Arthur was ordered to battle the wild Pokemon they met on the road and he regretted every move he made. He did not see the point of attacking random Pokemon and hurting them. Elijah grew tired of the young Totodile's reluctance to battle and, as he caught more Pokemon, started to use Arthur in battle less and less. Arthur wouldn't have minded if he wasn't confined in his Poke Ball the whole time, sometimes only coming out twice a day to eat. As time went on, Arthur evolved into Croconaw but was still Elijah's least favourite Pokemon. He spent so much time training his other Pokemon that he barely had time for him. Arthur grew lonely and did not like his teammates and their insatiable appetite for hurting innocent wild Pokemon. He just couldn't understand why they'd want to do that to other Pokemon just to please the Trainer. As the group traveled further and further through Johto, Arthur was finally allowed to battle with the Mahogany Town Gym Leader. Although he disliked fighting, he put up with it hoping that Elijah would pay more attention to him in the future. Victory was theirs and this battle sparked his evolution into Feraligatr. But even though he was fully evolved, Elijah was still not interested in him. Arthur was kept in his Poke Ball for a painfully long time after that. When he was finally let out they were in a completely different land: Unova. Things continued as usual for a while, until one rainy day Elijah released all of his Pokemon from their Poke Balls at once and addressed them sternly. He told them that there was an outbreak of a terrible disease in the region and that they were going to evacuate via the ferry in Castelia City. Unfortunately, each Trainer had a limit to the number of Pokemon they could take onto the ferry with them. As Arthur predicted, Elijah did not think twice about leaving his timid starter behind. He watched sadly as the ferry left the dock with Elijah and his 'good' Pokemon on board. Arthur remained in Castelia for about a week, hoping that Elijah would come back for him. When he didn't turn up, Arthur concluded that the chances of his 'master' coming back for someone like him were rather low, and so he left. He eventually arrived at the Dreamyard, where he made his first ever group of friends. Later on, however, the group got into a battle with three elemental primates. Arthur sunk his teeth into the Simisear, determined to prove himself, only for it to release a powerful Overheat attack. Badly burned, the terrified and self-loathing Arthur fled the battle, abandoning his friends under the belief that he would only cause more trouble for them. He remained in Unova for some time after, until a mysterious purge warped him back to his homeland of Johto. He traveled to Ecruteak, where he met a friendly Charmeleon called Vortex and various other survivors. However they were attacked by an undead Zoroark, and Vortex was violently killed. Arthur's anxiety peaked as the group fled, and they took shelter from the monster in Bell Tower. Arthur slipped away from the group before his panic caused them more problems, but found himself wondering if he'd done the right thing. Being on his own wasn't doing him much good; perhaps being with other Pokemon was what he needed to come out of his shell. So he's heading back there now, hoping that they're still around and won't be too mad at him for leaving... |
Appearance | In terms of size and weight, Arthur is a fairly normal Feraligatr. However, around his snout and on his chest and arms are the horrific remains of nasty burns, inflicted from a direct hit by a powerful Overheat attack by an undead Simisear. They are pink and blotchy, and sometimes ooze when irritated. Arthur almost always looks nervous, and is often seen twiddling his fingers or scratching the skin on his hands. |
Personality | Arthur can very accurately be described as a big softie. He is very friendly and sweet-natured, and loves to make friends. He is rather shy and it can take a lot of courage for him to approach somebody, but once he feels like he has made a friend he will feel a great sense of fulfillment, prompting him to stay with said friend for as long as possible. He has a tenancy to become particularly attached to the first person to be friendly to him in return, but he is by no means clingy - he is more than happy to act independently if necessary. Arthur is rather naive and does not know much about the 'real world', having spent very little of his life actually outside of his Poke Ball. He is a little socially awkward and does not always know what to say or how to react to others. This means that he is often very quiet in fear of making a fool out of himself, speaking only if prompted. Arthur has very little knowledge about battling, and will often just rely on impulse rather than strategy. His self-confidence is almost non-existent due to Elijah's mistreatment, and as such he will only battle if it is necessary. However, Arthur will go all out against any undead that threaten the safety of himself or his friends, despite his inexperience. |
User Notes | --He carries a slight stutter when he speaks, particularly if he is nervous. --He is unaware of his own strength. |
